Kilmarnock announce second new arrival of the day as ex-Queen's Park midfielder completes move
The 25-year-old had signed a pre-contract agreement in January
Jack Thomson has signed for Kilmarnock after departing Championship outfit Queen's Park.
The 25-year-old arrives on a two-year deal having signed a pre-contract agreement with the Rugby Park club in January.
He's the second new arrival of the day for Killie, following on from the return of winger Greg Kiltie from St Mirren this morning.
Speaking to the club website, Thomson said: "Im really happy to be here. It's been a long time coming, I have known about it for quite a while now.
"I signed the pre-contract in January so it's a long time thinking about things and itching to get going, it's a while to wait, but now I just can't wait to start pre-season this week."
Thomson made 133 appearances for the Spiders since arriving in July 2021 and gets his first taste of Premiership football with his move to East Ayrshire.
He added: "The club's got a lot of history. The team is always competitive, competing at a really good level. It just felt like a natural step from where I've been. I'm just excited to play with really good players at a really good level and see how well I can do.
"My conversations with the manager have been really positive. When I seen he was announced, I was excited. You speak to the people you know in football and try to find out as much as you can and everything that was said about the manager was really positive.
"And then obviously speaking to him, I have the exact same impression. So I can't wait to get on the pitch and be working with him."
Manager Stuart Kettlewell added: "Jack is a player that I've inherited and I'm delighted that's the case. He is an ambitious player with great ability and I'm confident that he will fit right into our squad.
"I've had positive conversations with Jack and I'm looking forward to getting to work with him and the rest of the players.'

The Light Blues are said to be among the club chasing the 38-year-old after his Leicester City exit with the new owners eyeing a landmark deal. Posh director of football Barry Fry has revealed he previously commanded a £5million and £5million in add-ons for the forward who is set to leave for a minimal fee. Should Poku move outside of England, a compensation fee under the lower rate FIFA guidelines would be due to the club due to cross-border rules. Peterborough owner Darragh MacAnthony told Poku to 'listen to common sense' and sign for an unnamed Championship club as he vented his frustration over the prospect of a cut-price payment. Speaking on his podcast, The Hard Truth, MacAnthony said: 'We know Kwame has been offered an absolute blockbuster move to a top, top club in England. I don't know what he's thinking or what he's waiting for. 'His agent is a big agent who represents Man United players. I think he'll rip it up in the Championship. Unless a Premier League club has come in, I don't know. 'Obviously if he ***** us and goes to Europe, I'd be furious, because I know he'll earn more and be in the Premier League in a year. 'I think a player like him disappears in Europe. If he goes to Europe, he disappears. That's his career. 'We took a chance and developed him. Nottingham Forest left-back Harry Toffolo has named as a target after leaving the club as a free agent.
