Mystery intruder pummels John Cena at WWE Money in the Bank event
Never say never in WWE. Things change rapidly ... within the same week.
The sports entertainment juggernaut had its Money in the Bank show in Los Angeles on Saturday. The main event was a tag-team match that had John Cena and Logan Paul against Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso.
Somehow, Cena and Rhodes wound up in the ring late in the match and the heel Cena hit Rhodes with his title belt -- again.
Cena was ready to finish Rhodes with a pin and earn a victory when a mystery man in a black hoodie and facemask entered the ring.
The allegedly unwelcome guest proceed to pummel Cena. Once he had the champ down, he decided to reveal his identity. First the hood came off. Then the mask.
Who was it? None other than Ron Killings, R-Truth.
The audience went wild. Why? Because earlier in the week it was announced that the uber-popular Killings was not having his contract renewed. This despite him being in a major storyline with Cena.
Social media revolted and the WWE played along wishing Killings well. But if anyone knows professional wrestling, the window or door has to always be left open a crack because "working" the audience is an art WWE knows better than anyone.

I believe that year was either the fumble or the drive. I'm not sure which one, but those are the two things that really screwed us." The former WWE champion was recently named host of the upcoming reboot of American Gladiators on Prime Video. "I can't wait. I think, with this show, we're gonna, you know, give a nod to what, what American Gladiators was in the past, and elevate it and put it, you know, with 100% and go literally, ball to the wall, if you will." said Miz, "I mean, American Gladiators is a staple, and now to be the host of American Gladiators. It's an absolute honor, and I take it very, very seriously. I want to make sure that this show is everything people imagine it to be and more, and it will be. I can't wait for people to meet the Gladiators. I can't wait for people to see the events, and I can't wait for people to see me as the host." During a recent appearance on NFL Network's Good Morning Football, Miz suggested that Chiefs star Travis Kelce would make a great addition to the show as a Gladiator. "I'm gonna go with two tight ends. I'm gonna go, George Kittle, I'm gonna go with Travis Kelce, because of personality," said Miz during the broadcast, "A Gladiator has to have a great personality, and got to be out there, not only do that be physically dominating but they got to be someone, either you're root for, or you're gonna boo kind of like a WWE superstar." The annual tournament awards $750,000 in prize money, much of which the celebrity players donate to local and national charities. Over the years, nearly $8 million has been donated to non-profit causes. After announcing that his WWE contract wasn't being renewed last Sunday, R-Truth is seemingly already back with the company. In the closing moments of tonight's Money in the Bank premium live event, a hooded figure jumped the barricade and attacked John Cena. The figure revealed himself to be R-Truth as a majority of the WWE Universe rejoiced. But what just happened? Was last week's announcement a work? Or did WWE listen to their fanbase and roster and choose to make things right? Advertisement According to Mike Johnson of PWInsider, Truth is back with the company and will be going by Ron Killings going forward. At least that's the initial word. Ron Killings is R-Truth's real name. He also used the name Ron 'The Truth' Killings during his time with TNA Wrestling, where he had a reign as NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion. As for whether this situation was a work or not, Truth spent last week negotiating appearances and independent appearances following the expiration of his WWE contract.
