"Mohanlal Does It Better': Vikram shares his wife's endearing admiration for Lalettan
Early this year (2025), as Tamil superstar
Vikram
was busy promoting his film '
Veera Dheera Sooran
', a charming and humorous anecdote he shared won the hearts of fans—especially in Kerala. During a promotional event in God's Own Country Kerala, Vikram gave audiences a glimpse into his personal life, revealing that while he is an ardent admirer of Malayalam legend
Mohanlal
, there's someone in his home who reveres the actor even more—his wife.'
"Lalettan does it better"
Vikram recalled with a laugh that no matter how impressive his own performance might be, his wife never fails to gently remind him, 'Mohanlal would've done it better.' What started as a compliment to the Malayalam icon has turned into a running joke within their household. 'I'm a huge fan of Lalettan, but my wife is a bigger fan than me,' Vikram admitted with a smile. 'Even if I do something very nice, she'll say, 'Mohanlal does it better.'' He added that when he asked her which film she would watch first—Veera Dheera Sooran or L2: Empuraan—she simply replied, 'Both.' It was a candid moment that not only showcased Vikram's humility and sense of humor but also highlighted Mohanlal's lasting appeal across generations and film industries.

Two Titans, Two Films: A box office clash
Interestingly, Vikram's Veera Dheera Sooran and Mohanlal's
L2: Empuraan
were both slated for release on March 27, 2025. However, fate had different plans for Vikram's action-packed thriller. Directed by S. U. Arun, 'Veera Dheera Sooran' faced last-minute legal hurdles that delayed its release across India. An interim court order restricted screenings until after 10:30 am on release day. Theaters like PVR and Cinepolis pulled early shows in Bengaluru, and US premieres were canceled entirely.
Meanwhile, L2: Empuraan, directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran and serving as a sequel to the 2019 blockbuster Lucifer, roared into cinemas with overwhelming fanfare. The film, featuring Mohanlal reprising his iconic role, received glowing reviews and quickly became the highest-grossing Malayalam film of all time.
A moment of fanhood and fondness
This throwback moment from Vikram's promotional tour offered more than just a laugh—it served as a reminder of how admiration for cinema transcends language and borders. Even for a versatile actor like Vikram, there's room for fanhood. And in his household, that crown clearly belongs to Mohanlal. It was a story that blended humor, humility, and the universal charm of great actors—one that fans across South India fondly remember.
