Former Man United star 'could NEVER play for his club again after complaining about his contract during BBQ with team-mates - as reasons for captain's shock axing are revealed'
Marcos Rojo could have played his last game for Boca Juniors after infuriating club chiefs with comments about his contract situation, according to reports.
The central defender's deal with the Argentine giants expires in December and he has so far not been offered an extension to his stay with the Buenos-Aires based outfit.
Boca captain Rojo, 35, was dropped for the crunch Torneo Apertura play-off quarter-final defeat by Independiente earlier this week. He had scored a penalty in the shootout in the last-16 victory over Club Atletico Lanus.
It had been claimed the ex-Manchester United star's absence was because he had not trained the day after attending team-mate Dario Benedetto's birthday party.
But new details have emerged in Argentina which shed light on Rojo's surprise axing for the club's biggest game of the season.
According to Ole, Rojo complained about the club not offering him a new deal during a team bonding BBQ with his team-mates, including ex-United striker Edinson Cavani.
The publication reports Rojo became increasingly more 'heated' during the event.
Word of his frustration was leaked to club president Juan Riquelme, who is reportedly furious with the defender's actions.
Ole reports Rojo is not likely to feature for Boca again as a result in a huge blow to the Argentina international, who at 35 is approaching the final years of his career.
Rojo joined Boca after leaving Man United following seven years at Old Trafford after a £16million move from Sporting Lisbon. He had spent his final season at the club on loan at Estudiantes.
He won the FA Cup, League Cup and Europa League at United although he was injured in the run to the final of the latter in Stockholm in May 2017.
