Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel participates in 'Yog Shivir' in Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad (Gujarat) [India], June 11 (ANI): Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Wednesday participated in the 'Yog Shivir' at the Sabarmati River Front in Ahmedabad under the 'Healthy Gujarat - Obesity Free Gujarat' campaign.
Meanwhile on Tuesday, A yoga camp was held at Navlakhi Ground in Vadodara ahead of International Yoga Day, drawing participation from over one lakh people, according to officials.
The event was jointly organised by the Gujarat State Yoga Board and Vadodara Municipal Corporation to raise awareness about the benefits of yoga.
The event, which took place as a precursor to the celebrations on June 21, saw enthusiastic participation from people of all age groups who practised various yoga asanas together in the open.
Chairman of the Gujarat State Yoga Board, Shishpal Rajput, addressed the gathering and emphasised the growing importance of yoga in modern life.
'The trend of people towards yoga is increasing across the country. Everyone is becoming healthy. Even after having a reputation for money, a person has stress, depression, sleep issues, diabetes and obesity. They feel that apart from financial health, physical health is very important. Mental health is very important and it will be achieved through yoga. There is no other way but yoga,' he said.
He further added, 'So today you have seen that there was a Mahakumbh of Yoga in the city of Vadodara, and similar programs are taking place in all our districts of Gujarat.'
The event served as a major build-up to the International Yoga Day celebrations, which will be marked across Gujarat and India on June 21.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to mark celebrations for the International Yoga Day, scheduled to be celebrated on June 21 in Andhra Pradesh.
In a post on X, the Prime Minister expressed happiness at witnessing people's enthusiasm ahead of the Yoga Day celebrations and said that 'Yogandhra 2025' was a commendable effort to popularise the ancient practice. (ANI)

VIJAYAWADA: The State government's flagship Yogandhra programme has achieved a major milestone, surpassing its target of 2 crore participants 10 days ahead of International Yoga Day on June 21. As of June 10 night, a record 2,04,64,831 individuals have registered. Launched on May 31, Yogandhra campaign aims to transform yoga into a mass movement, in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision. The campaign will culminate in a grand State-level programme in Visakhapatnam on June 21, alongside yoga sessions at 1,36,175 registered venues across Andhra Pradesh. The Yogandhra initiative has also made remarkable progress in training yoga instructors, organising competitions, and finalising event venues—surpassing all initial targets. Health Minister Y Satya Kumar Yadav lauded the overwhelming public response, stating it reflected Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu's commitment to promoting holistic health. Implementation updates were presented to a ministerial committee led by HRD and IT Minister Nara Lokesh by Special Chief Secretary and Yogandhra Nodal Officer MT Krishna Babu. To further boost local engagement, district-specific themes have been introduced. Yoga sessions have been successfully conducted in 16 districts and at 62 of the 100 government-identified tourist sites, integrating wellness with tourism and giving the campaign a unique cultural dimension.

New Delhi [India], June 12 (ANI): Marking the 11th edition of International Yoga Day, Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Prataprao Jadhav on Thursday said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visionary initiative has taken yoga from India's villages to the global stage, adding that 'yoga has reached the hearts of all the people participating' over the past decade. Speaking to ANI, Minister Jadhav said, 'Because of the initiative started by our PM Modi, 21st June is celebrated worldwide as International Yoga Day. His initiative has completed one decade now, and in this decade, Yoga has reached the hearts of all the people participating.' 'People all over the world have started recognising Yoga. Therefore, due to its 11th year, our Prime Minister has directed that this 11th Yoga Day be celebrated significantly worldwide, especially in our country. From villages to the national capital, Delhi, and everywhere, we aim to organise yoga with the state government's efforts,' Jadhav added. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to mark celebrations for the International Yoga Day, scheduled to be celebrated on June 21 in Andhra Pradesh. Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], June 11 (ANI): Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak on Wednesday urged citizens to remain vigilant and take all necessary precautions amid the ongoing severe heatwave conditions sweeping the state. Addressing the escalating temperatures, Pathak highlighted the measures taken by the Health Department to manage the crisis. He noted that hospitals in the state are on high alert, with beds reserved for heat-related emergencies. He also urged citizens to only step out of the house unnecessarily during such severe heatwaves. 'In view of the extreme heat conditions, the Health Department has made necessary arrangements. All hospitals have been put on alert, with beds reserved for heat-related emergencies, and continuous monitoring is underway. Citizens are advised not to step out unless necessary. If stepping out, they should protect their heads with an umbrella or towel, as the sunlight is currently very intense. Please stay alert and take all precautions,' he said. The heatwave has particularly affected many regions of the state, with heatwaves reported in a few places over South Uttar Pradesh, with gradual respite from the heatwave over Northwest India likely from 14th June as per the India Meteorological Department. Ayodhya District Magistrate Nikhil Tikaram Funde also outlined proactive steps to mitigate its impact. 'We had prepared an action plan considering the heatwave in Ayodhya and according to this, a strategy was made for the steps to be taken by various departments. We are ensuring that the residents and tourists face no inconvenience and get enough cold water to drink. We have arranged shades and water for domestic as well as street animals. We appeal to all the tourists to stay in the shade while visiting the temple (Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple). If you need any medical help, we have reserved special beds for those affected by the heatwave. Consistently drink cold water,' Funde stated, emphasising the administration's efforts to support both locals and pilgrims. Speaking on the completion of 11 years of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government in the centre, Pathak said that the vision of Viksit Bharat was being realised through unprecedented progress across sectors, from space science to medical and agricultural advancements. 'Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India has been on a development journey for the past 11 years. In this context, a public seminar was held today in Lucknow.
