China vows support to Pakistan for securing peace, stability
China vowed on Thursday to support Pakistan to achieve the common desire of both countries to secure peace and stability in South Asia.
This was stated by Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong during his meeting with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif at the Prime Minister House today, said a statement by the Prime Minister's Office (PMO).
During the meeting, the PM conveyed his warm wishes to President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang, and expressed sincere thanks to China for its strong and steadfast support in the prevailing situation in South Asia.
PM Shehbaz said that Pakistan had always condemned terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, and thanked China for its endorsement of his sincere offer to conduct a credible, neutral and transparent international investigation into the Pahalgam incident.
'The Prime Minister said that India's decision to weaponize water was extremely regrettable especially as there was no provision for either party to walk away unilaterally from its commitments under the Indus Waters Treaty,' said the PMO.
He also underscored that peaceful resolution of the Jammu & Kashmir dispute was the only way to ensure lasting peace in South Asia.
On Sunday, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi reiterated their firm resolve to uphold regional peace and stability, promote mutual respect and understanding, and jointly oppose unilateralism.
Both leaders agreed to maintain close communication and coordination at all levels to advance their shared objectives of peace, security, and sustainable development in the region and beyond.
Following the Pahalgam attack, India faced a setback at the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) as Pakistan, backed by China, blocked New Delhi's attempts to frame the attack in its favor.

ATC issues arrest warrants of PTI workers
ISLAMABAD: The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Friday issued arrest warrants for the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers who did not appear before it in cases registered against them in connection with the November 26 cases. ATC judge Tahir Abbas Sipra, while hearing the cases, marked the attendance of workers who attended the hearing and adjourned the case registered at Aabpara police station until July 15 and Sangjani till July 14. The court expressed annoyance over the accused that failed to appear before the court and issued their arrest warrant. The court directed the police to arrest the accused and produce them before the court. PTI lawyer Sardar Masroof and Ayesha Khalid appeared before the court. Meanwhile, another court sent Chinese nationals allegedly involved to jail in a case registered against them in connection with online fraud. Police have produced eight nationals before judicial magistrate Abbas Shah, after completion of their physical remand. During the court proceedings, the prosecutor told the court that the accused had defrauded hundreds of citizens through online scams. The suspects had established offices in Pakistan to carry out their activities, yet nothing was registered in their own names—indicating an attempt to avoid legal accountability, he further said. PM condemns unprovoked Israeli attack on Iran
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday strongly condemned what he described as an 'unprovoked' Israeli attack on Iran, warning that the incident could further destabilise an already volatile region. In a statement posted on X, Sharif said: 'I condemn, in the strongest possible terms, today's unprovoked attack on Iran by Israel. This grave and highly irresponsible act is deeply alarming and risks further de-stabilising an already volatile region.' He expressed sympathy for the Iranian people over reported casualties and called on the international community, including the United Nations, to act swiftly to prevent any further escalation that could threaten regional or global peace. In a separate move, the prime minister instructed authorities to ensure the safety and secure return of Pakistani pilgrims currently in Iran. A Crisis Management Cell has been established at Pakistan's Foreign Office, and the country's embassy in Iran has been placed on high alert. Pakistan, UAE agree to convene JMC moot in Abu Dhabi
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have agreed to convene a meeting of Joint Ministerial Commission (JMC) in Abu Dhabi. Both the countries have showed willingness in this regard during Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif's day-long visit to UAE on June 12. However, dates for holding the Pak-UAE JMC are being finalised. The meeting was attended by SAPM to DPM Office, federal secretaries of Economic Affairs, Commerce, Maritime Affairs, Interior, Inter-Provincial Coordination, National Heritage, and Health, along with senior officials from relevant ministries and concerned departments, including MoFA, overseas Pakistanis, Finance, Railways, Defence, and Tourism. Discussions focused on advancing key bilateral initiatives, formalising collaboration in existing sectors, exploring new avenues for cooperation, and attracting mutually-beneficial UAE investments in priority areas, the Foreign Office spokesperson said. The DPM/FM reiterated Pakistan's firm commitment to strengthening Pakistan-UAE economic and trade relations. The UAE is Pakistan's third largest trading partner after China and the United States. The UAE is also home to over one million Pakistani expatriates and the second source of major remittances to Pakistan.
