Jess Learmonth delighted with T100 Triathlon podium
Learmonth took third place in Canada behind defending champion Taylor Knibb and Julie Derron.
It marked a breakthrough result for Learmonth, who upgraded from finishes of 13th and seventh in Singapore and San Francisco respectively to stake her claim as a contender heading into the rest of the season.
'I am totally shocked to get on the podium,' she said. 'It was enjoyable, I was having the best time. I've not ran much so I thought if I could have a good swim and bike, we will see what happens.
'Taylor keeps it very honest and keeps the pressure on, which helps a lot. I got a nice gap and felt pretty comfortable on the run.
'It is so difficult to push the pace at the front and [Taylor] does that so well. It was really good to have someone to ride with, it helps to have someone to keep the pressure on. I was just focussed on staying together.']
Third place moves Learmonth into fourth in the overall standings behind Derron, Knibb and fellow Brit Kate Waugh, who was absent in Vancouver.
Compatriot Lucy Charles-Barclay is just a point behind in fifth after she finished fourth in Canada, with the Brits likely to all be eyeing up a home race in London on 9 August.
It is the next stop on the global T100 Triathlon Tour, which will also make stops on the French Riviera, Valencia, Las Vegas and Dubai before culminating in its final in Qatar in December.
A place on the podium is particularly poignant for Learmonth, as she continues her return to the top of the sport after giving birth to her son Frederick in September 2023.
The Olympic gold medallist now balances her training with motherhood, but is thrilled to be back amongst the very best.
She added: 'It means a lot, certainly with all the help and support I get for Fred. To get a result like that makes it all the more worthwhile. I love the circuit, I love being with the girls and having a laugh. This just tops it off.
'I hope I can take confidence from it. I just need to recover well from this and put some training together on the run.'

Amir Khan meets Anthony Joshua after accusing him of sleeping with his wife
The pair were seemingly good friends until Khan accused Joshua of sleeping with his wife - but the fighters may have rekindled their friendship after linking up together in Ghana Amir Khan and Anthony Joshua appear to be on good terms again after the former accused the British heavyweight of sleeping with his wife. Joshua has been enjoying some time outside of the ring post-elbow surgery and the 35-year-old has recently enjoyed luxury trips to Oman, Dubai and Saudi Arabia. The Brit was recently given a hero's welcome and was mobbed by fans after touching down in Ghana. The former two-time heavyweight world champion flew out to watch Khan's first ever boxing show as a promoter in the aforementioned African nation. I was just digging a deeper and deeper hole. I remember I went to see Faryal. I apologised. I said, 'Look, I don't know what went through my head.' And I totally changed my ways, changed the way I am." Three years later, Khan apologised to Joshua. 'I had the problem with Anthony Joshua, which I feel awful for, because at the end of the day. But I put him in the firing line for no reason,' he told Gary Neville on The Overlap. 'I mean, he was a friend of mine. Since then, we've never spoken. So I lost a good friend through that as well.' Now, it seems as if the pair are on relatively speaking terms again. Joshua has not fought since losing to Daniel Dubois last year. With the Brit hoping to return to action later this year, boxing promoter Eddie Hearn has listed Dillian Whyte and Jared Anderson as potential opponents for a comeback fight. "For me, if I'm advising AJ, we're back this year, we have two Tyson Fury fights, what else is there to do?," he said. James D'Arcy reveals pleasure at supporting tennis awards
D'Arcy, 49, was one of several high-profile guests, including two-time Olympic medallist Fatima Whitbread and former Lioness Lianne Sanderson, who attended this year's edition of the Tennis Black List, presented in association with Dante Talent and held during the HSBC Championships at The Queen's Club, London on the 11th of June, supported by the LTA. D'Arcy, who holds credits in a blockbuster such as Oppenheimer, Avengers: Endgame and Dunkirk and is a keen tennis enthusiast in his own right, was grateful for the opportunity to attend and lend his voice to support and champion black and mixed black excellence in a sport so close to his own heart. 'It's wonderful isn't it?,' said D'Arcy. 'I know some of the people who work at Dante, so that's how I first became aware of it and very happy to be here and helping them celebrate the evening. It has been such a huge success. 'I started watching tennis when I was pretty young and it was the Borg-McEnroe final of 1980 that got me into it. 'I was always a massive John McEnroe fan because he threw tantrums and I was about the sort of right age for tantrums so although I couldn't match him on the tennis court, I could definitely throw a good tantrum!. 'The Icon award went to Arthur Ashe, who was in a field of one as a black man playing elite tennis at the level he did. 'Now here we are where someone like him is highlighted at these awards. It's great to feel real change coming. 'As with any sport, you would want for something like this to be available to everybody and that just hasn't been the case up until now. It has been kind of elitist and hopefully that's starting to change now. 'It just feels that that's the way the world should be.' Tennis Black List is the global celebration of Black and mixed black excellence across the game — spotlighting the unsung, the visionary and the next generation of changemakers. D'Arcy added: 'Events like this evening are so wonderful and joyful and they're doing such great work that it seems very clear that that's the sort of thing I would like to be involved with. 'I can get behind pretty much any player if they play well but in order to play well, particularly at tennis, you need to have access to money. It's as simple as that. A career in tennis is not something that's just going to happen. Some people are naturally gifted, but it has to be crafted so it's great that we have award ceremonies like this now. 'The people here being honoured must point in the direction of the fact that some of the money is getting to a more diverse group of people and that is wonderful to see.' Founders Anne-Marie Batson and Richard Sackey Addo said: 'This movement is about legacy. Tennis Black List is creating space for Black and mixed-black heritage excellence to be seen, honoured and remembered across all areas of tennis.
