FBI probes effort to impersonate White House chief of staff Susie Wiles, sources say
One or more unknown people who accessed White House chief of staff Susie Wiles' personal cellphone used her contacts file to reach out to other top officials and impersonate her, sources told CBS News Thursday.
Some of the recipients realized the messages were suspicious because the texts and calls came from an unknown number, sources said, and the impersonator or impersonators asked if the conversations could be continued in another platform, such as Telegram.
The suspicious messages hit in-boxes over an unknown period of time, sources said.
Wiles explained to people that her phone had been hacked, sources told CBS News.

The Wall Street Journal earlier Thursday reported on story and the federal probe launched in response.
"The White House takes the cybersecurity of all staff very seriously, and this matter continues to be investigated," a White House spokesperson told CBS News when asked about the details of the situation.
FBI Director Kash Patel said in a statement shared with CBS News: "The FBI takes all threats against the President, his staff, and our cybersecurity with the utmost seriousness; safeguarding our administration officials' ability to securely communicate to accomplish the President's mission is a top priority."

While the raw metal may be worth between $200 and $300, replacing it without help from insurance can cost as much as $4,000. Family seeks answers in disappearance of 19-year-old
LAKE ODESSA, Mich. (WOOD) — A Lake Odessa family is still searching for answers after their loved one vanished over a month ago. Devlin Tait, 19, was last seen on April 21, according to the Ionia County Sheriff's Office. He has not been seen since. 'It's gut wrenching not knowing,' Tait's sister Tamara Host told News 8. According to the , Tait is 19 years old, stands 6 feet tall and weighs 170 pounds. Tait's family said that the last 40 days have been terrible, as they continue to wonder where he is. 'It's not like Devlin to go this long without communication, it's not like Devlin to not even be on social media at all,' Devlin's aunt Sabrina Cook told News 8. 'Not only that but not to whether it be with us or to my grandma to at least reach out.' The family is offering a $6,000 reward to anyone who helps bring Tait home. They said that money has been fundraised through a bake sale, and sign/shirt sales. 'I keep hoping he will come knocking on the door or that he will come walking through the door when it's open,' Host said. 'We want the prayers to keep pouring in for him and the support.' Tait's family told News 8 that he is well known to the community, often walking around downtown. They said the last place he was seen on surveillance video was at Carl's Market in downtown Lake Odessa. Cook said it has been hard to go about her daily life, not knowing if Tait is safe. 'I start two jobs this week and I feel like I am doing wrong because I feel like I am moving on with my life without him….and I feel like I am not supposed to,' she said. His family said Tait is diagnosed with cerebral palsy, autism, Tourette's and fetal alcohol syndrome and is without his necessary medication.
