It's time to vote for the Montgomery area boys and girls athlete of the week, sponsored by Vance Law Firm.
Trinity's Lawson Roth scored two goals and had an assist to win 58% of the boys vote. Montgomery Academy's Knox Wingate placed second with 40% after a first place finish at sectional in pole vault.

Nominees for athlete of the week come from the top performers of the week before. To nominate a top performer, have your coach email sports@montgomeryadvertiser.com.
Voting will last until Thursday at noon. Votes will not be accepted via email, only in the polls below.

Montgomery area boys athlete of the week nominations
Carver's Maurice Conner won the state championship in the AHSAA 7A 100-meter dash (10.63) and finished 2nd in the 200-meter dash (21.35).
Loachapoka's Noah Norman won the AHSAA 2A state shot put championship with a toss of 48-06.00.
Montgomery Academy's Skyler Stovall won the AHSAA 4A high jump championship (6-06.00). He finished 4th in long jump (21-03.25).
Alabama Christian Academy's AC Walters is the state's newest AHSAA 3A state javelin champion after a winning throw of 174-04.
Montgomery Academy's Hampton Welch scored a goal in the second overtime to lift the team to a 3-2 win against Fairhope in the AHSAA 7A boys AHSAA semifinal.
Montgomery area girls athlete of the week nominations
Montgomery Academy's Isabella Arnett finished second in the 800-meter run (2:21.91) at the AHSAA 4A state championships.
Alabama Christian Academy's Autumn Jackson is the AHSAA 3A state champion in triple jump with a leap of 34-06.50.
Montgomery Catholic's Haylei Mason claimed a pair of AHSAA 4A state championships, winning the 100-meter hurdles (14.66) as well as the 300-meter hurdles (44.78).
Park Crossing's Somer Rone claimed two titles at the AHSAA 6A state championships, winning both the 200-meter dash (24.59) and the 100-meter dash (12.03).
Lee-Scott Academy's 3-2 win against Madison Academy in the AHSAA 1A/3A championship was captured by a kick from MVP A.J. Spillman in a shootout after two overtimes. Spillman's play in a semifinal match win included a hat trick.

Athlete of the Week: Brylee Brewster
WARSAW–This week's Athlete of the Week is Brylee Brewster. Brewster is a senior on the Warsaw High School softball team. Last week, Brewster wrapped up her high school career in the circle by leading the Lady Wildcats to the Class2 state title. Brewster struck out 16 hitters in Warsaw's 5-0 win against Ava in the State Semifinals. Then, racked up 11 more against Diamond in the team's 1-0 victory for the program's first state championship. It's time to vote for the Detroit Free Press Girls Prep Athlete of the Week for May 25-31. This week's poll features four players, one state champion from track and field and three tennis champions. Advertisement Voting will be open until 11:59 a.m. Thursday, June 5. We'll announce the winner here shortly after the poll closes. Here are the nominees (listed in alphabetical order by last name): Nicole Fu, Rochester Adams, tennis: After finishing as the No. 1 singles runner-up for the past three seasons, Fu claimed the No. 1 Division 1 singles state championship. She defeated last season's champion Gabby Sadowski of Eisenhower in two sets, in a rematch of the 2024 championship match. Jada Josifovski, Birmingham Seaholm, tennis: Josifovski clinched the Division 2 No. 2 singles state title defeating Keira Kirkland of Farmington Hills Mercy. The junior never dropped a set on her way to the championship, contributed to the Maples winning in their first title in two seasons. Advertisement Samantha Karoub, North Farmington, tennis: Karoub completed an undefeated season, earning a Division 3 state championship. Karoub, like Josifovski, never dropped a set in her tournament appearance. Carrie VanNoy, Oak Park, track and field: The senior runner earned two state championships for her performances in the 110m and 300m hurdles. She also contributed in the 4x100 and 4x200m relays to help Oak Park clinch the Division 1 title. Come back to every Tuesday morning to vote for Athlete of the Week. Eddie Bruner Jr., Lincoln track and field — Abes junior set a personal record in his 3A Boys 400M title run (46.94) and won his second title with Lincoln's 4x100M Relay (41.69). Xavier Bunn, Tumwater track and field — T-Birds senior took home two gold medals in the 2A Boys Triple Jump (45-5.5) and 4x100M Relay (41.78) at Mount Tahoma's WIAA state meet. Ethan Carter, Eatonville track and field — Cruisers senior captured the 2A Boys Pole Vault state title (15-6) at the WIAA Track & Field championships at Mount Tahoma. Marvis Christian, Franklin Pierce track and field — Cardinals senior successfully defended his 2A Boys Long Jump title (22-8.75) at the WIAA state meet at Mount Tahoma. Mateo Cordero, Mount Tahoma track and field — Won the Mixed 100M Dash Unified title at the WIAA Track & Field championships on his home track (11.79). Jake Cuda, Gig Harbor baseball — Had a strong start in 3A state tournament loss to Kennewick, going five innings, allowing three hits, one run, walking three and striking out two. Andy Glaze, Steilacoom track and field — Sentinels senior won the 2A Boys 800M title (1:53.56) at the WIAA state meet at Mount Tahoma. Carson Godfrey, Olympia track and field — Bears junior won 4A Boys Shot Put title (60-10.5) at the WIAA Track & Field championships at Mount Tahoma. Kanai Kennedy, Mount Tahoma track and field — Freshman sprinter captured the 3A Boys 100M Dash state title on his home track (10.80) at the WIAA Track & Field championships at Mount Tahoma. Ethan Mar, Gig Harbor baseball — Went 2-for-3 with three RBI and a walk in 3A state tournament semifinal loss to Kennewick. Jett Reed, Puyallup baseball — Pitched 4 1/3 innings in relief in Puyallup's 4A state tournament semifinal loss to Lake Washington, allowing no hits, no runs and walking one. Jordan Smith, Timberline track and field — Blazers senior won the 3A Boys 300M Hurdles title at the WIAA state meet at Mount Tahoma. Gage Thompson, Puyallup baseball — Hit a solo home run to left field, scoring Puyallup's lone run in its 4A state tournament semifinal loss to Lake Washington. Geron White, Federal Way track and field — Eagles senior soared to repeat state high jump titles (6-11.25) and claimed the 3A Boys Triple Jump championship (46-6.25) at Mount Tahoma's WIAA state meet.
