Oriental Kopi is opening a second outlet in Singapore at Nex this month
If you're not impressed by the long queues at the Oriental Kopi store in Bugis Junction, you can now try your luck at its new outlet, which is set to open in Nex on June 11. This will be Singapore's second Oriental Kopi after the brand debuted its first store in Bugis last November.
The famed Malaysian kopitiam chain is known to command snaking lines, with many Singaporeans crossing the causeway to try its polo buns, Portuguese egg tarts, toasts, and coffee. With the new store, folks who stay in Serangoon and the heartlands need not make the trip down to Bugis anymore for a taste of the café's Nanyang cuisine.
Prices at Nex should be similar, if not identical, to what's listed on the Bugis menu. The chain's signature Oriental kopi goes for $2 – and is a special blend of Arabica, Robusta, and Liberica. The polo buns, which come with butter and condensed milk, are $4.60 each at Bugis. And the egg tarts are $5.20 for two pieces and $15.60 for six.
You can also expect the café to serve a range of breakfast toasts, including the traditional kaya butter toast ($2.60) and curry double lava egg toast ($4.60), among others. And if you've worked up an appetite, then Oriental Kopi's wallet-friendly Nanyang dishes – from nasi lemak ($9.50) to Penang char kway teow ($7.50) and prawn mee ($9.50) – should fill you up.
Apart from food, Oriental Kopi is also known for its packet traditional pan mee, which comes with sachets of its signature sauce, anchovies, and fried onions, making for a quick and easy meal to whip up at home.
Oriental Kopi's second outlet will open on June 11 at 23 Serangoon Central, Nex, #B1-15, Singapore 556083.

Man Utd get green light to sign Gyokeres after Amorim transfer agreement expires
A reunion between Viktor Gyokeres and Ruben Amorim is inching closer after Manchester United were given the green light to launch an official approach for the Sporting forward Manchester United's hopes of signing Viktor Gyokeres have been given a major boost after a key obstacle quietly disappeared. The club were thought to be outsiders in the race for Gyokeres' signature, with Arsenal leading the pack for some time. But it appears the Swedish goal machine is now open to joining the Red Devils, despite the fact that they won't be playing Champions League football next season. No formal talks have been held between United and Sporting CP, but a reunion with Ruben Amorim now looks a genuine possibility, particularly with Arsenal focusing on a deal to sign RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko. Gyokeres was heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford in January, despite Amorim promising not to raid his old club for talent during the winter window. The Portuguese coach was as good as his word, but made no such promise about the summer transfer window. Gyokeres, who turned 27 on Wednesday, is reportedly available for around £60million - a fee significantly lower than the £85m release clause in his contract. Given that United spent £72m on Rasmus Hojlund in 2023, that asking price may feel like a bargain. However, agent fees and Gyokeres' wage demands will need to be taken into account as well. The striker has scored an astonishing 97 goals in 102 games for Sporting, and despite currently earning just £39,000 per week at the Estadio Jose Alvalade, he is expected to seek a salary exceeding £250,000 per week. Only five current United players earn weekly wages of £250,000 or more. Of those, three - Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, and Casemiro - are likely to leave this summer, while the remaining two - Bruno Fernandes and Mason Mount - have also been linked with exits. With Sir Jim Ratcliffe aiming to rein in spending amid ongoing PSR concerns, United may hesitate to meet Gyokeres' hefty demands. However, the chance to sign a striker of his calibre - especially with limited competition - could prove too tempting to ignore and a gamble worth taking. Top European sides such as Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and Manchester City already have world-class centre forwards in place, while United's other Premier League rivals appear to be pursuing other options. Chelsea recently beat United to the signing of Ipswich striker Liam Delap, and although they remain in the market for another forward, Hugo Ekitike appears to be their primary target. Liverpool are reportedly eyeing the Eintracht Frankfurt star as well, potentially viewing him as a replacement for Darwin Nunez, who is expected to leave Anfield this summer. The Red Devils have already spent £62.5m on Matheus Cunha, and are looking to seal a similarly priced deal for Brentford's Bryan Mbeumo. However, with several departures anticipated across United's forward line this summer, there is room - both in the squad and on the wage bill - for further additions. Gyokeres could prove to be the ultimate statement signing - one capable of firing United back up the table following a truly dismal season. But as with so many things at Old Trafford these days, any move will require walking a financial tightrope. Whether it pays off or backfires, the consequences will be significant and unavoidable.

Al-Hilal make offer for £63m Man Utd target after missing out on Bruno Fernandes
Al-Hilal have submitted a bid to sign one of Manchester United's transfer targets after failing to convince Bruno Fernandes to join the Saudi Pro League. The Saudi club are keen to make a marquee signing this summer, having already hired former Inter Milan boss Simone Inzaghi to be their new head coach. Mohamed Salah had been a long-term target before the Egyptian committed his future to Liverpool. Bruno Fernandes was also approached last week with a mind-boggling £700,000-a-week offer, but the United skipper eventually opted against the move. 'There was an opportunity. The president [of Al-Hilal] called me and asked if I wanted to go there. They were waiting for me,' Fernandes revealed this week. 'It would have been easy to move there as I know the Portuguese players there very well, but I want to play at the highest level and compete for major titles.' Having missed out on Fernandes, Al-Hilal have now moved on to their latest target, with Fabrizio Romano reporting that the club has sumbitted an official bid to sign Napoli striker Victor Osimhen. The 26-year-old has a €75million (£63m) release clause in his deal and has attracted interest from United as they look for alternatives having failed to sign Liam Delap. But Al-Ahli appeared to now be in pole position to sign the striker and have submitted an initial proposal worth €65m (£54.7m) with a further €5m (£4.2m) in add-ons. Napoli are expected to request that the release clause fee is matched, but reports add that the Saudi club are happy to do that if their initial bid is rebuffed. Osimhen was in talks with both Al-Ahli and Chelsea last summer, but ultimately failed to agree terms on a deal with either side. The Nigerian international instead moved on loan to Galatasaray where he enjoyed a superb campaign, scoring 37 goals in 41 appearances in all competitions to guide the Turkish side to a league and cup double. While a move to Saudi Arabia would be lucrative, fellow Nigerian John Obi Mikel has urged the striker to instead seek a move to the Premier League. 'I hope there is still a Premier League move for him this summer', Mikel told Metro. 'I think the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United, they still need a striker. I don't think [Rasmus] Hojlund is the guy for Manchester United. More Trending 'He runs around and works hard but he is not the guy who will score goals, put them in the top four and win them trophies. So for me Manchester United might be the destination. 'I don't want to see him in Saudi right now because he still has so much to offer in Europe. It would be a shame to see him go there. So maybe Arsenal, United, Juventus and PSG too [are his options]. Let's see what happens.' Should a move for Osimhen not materialise, United may be forced to consider alternatives as they seek attacking reinforcements for Ruben Amorim's side. The Red Devils still hold an interest in Viktor Gyokeres and Benjamin Sesko, but both strikers are also wanted by Arsenal. For more stories like this, check our sport page. Viktor Gyokeres makes Man Utd U-turn after learning Arsenal transfer decision
Viktor Gyokeres had looked to have ruled out a move to Manchester United after their Champions League failure - putting Arsenal in pole position - but the Sporting Lisbon star may have had a change of heart Victor Gyokeres looks to have changed his tune and is now open to a move to Manchester United - despite them not having Champions League football - which was believed to have been a determining factor. The Swede has long been expected to leave Sporting Lisbon and Arsenal had been seen as his most likely destination if he did head to the Premier League. But now a reunion with Ruben Amorim could be on the cards, reports talkSPORT. No formal talks have been held between those in Manchester and Sporting bosses, but the Red Devils' pursuit of a new striker is well documented. The Portuguese side want around £60million for Gyökeres - which is a £25m reduction on his £85m release clause. Gyokeres has a verbal agreement in place with Sporting allowing him to leave for less after he chose to stay in Lisbon last summer. Arsenal, like United, are in the market for a new frontman after opting against signing a new No 9 for several windows. Mirror Football understands that Arsenal are prioritising Benjamin Sesko, though. Arsenal's sporting director Andrea Berta has been negotiating with representatives of both players and their respective clubs simultaneously as the Gunners seek the best deal. However, the decision among the club's hierarchy is to push forward with their swoop for the RB Leipzig forward, rather than Gyokeres. That would leave the Swede, who scored more than 50 times in all competitions, looking for a new buyer. Several of Europe's top clubs are not looking to add a striker which means, even for a player of his quality, options may be limited. Amorim was the man who signed Gyokeres after he impressed in the Championship with Coventry City, later helping him become one of Europe's most prolific strikers. The United boss has just missed out on Liam Delap, who chose to join Chelsea, leaving him to review other options. Matheus Cunha has already been signed for £62.5m. The 27-year-old has just helped Sporting claim the domestic double and has remained tight-lipped on his future. He said: 'Let us see. It's hard for me to say, because yeah it is football and you never know what's going to happen in the summer. So for me to say anything else than that is impossible.' Gyokeres was asked specifically about the possibility of joining Arsenal and added: 'I don't know, I just focus on this. I've tried to focus on the last games because it's so important and I don't want to think about anything else. So yeah, if anything is true, let's see in the summer.'
