Rick Ware Racing calls LMC lawsuit a "misguided attempt to tarnish our reputation"

On April 1st, Legacy Motor Club (LMC) -- co-owned by seven-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Jimmie Johnson -- filed a lawsuit against Rick Ware Racing regarding a charter dispute. And RWR has already come out swinging in response.

The suit claims RWR agreed, in writing, to sell one of its charters to LMC but is now trying to back out of the deal. LMC, which already fields full-time entries for Erik Jones and John-Hunter Nemechek, plans to expand to three chartered cars for 2026 and beyond.
New statement
On Wednesday, RWR responded with the following statement: 'This lawsuit distorts the actual facts and is a misguided attempt to tarnish our reputation. RWR has negotiated in good faith and operated with the highest standards of integrity and professionalism. We are confident that the truth will prevail and look forward to swiftly resolving this matter through the proper legal channels.'
In the lawsuit, LMC takes aim at RWR's performance and viability, as the team sits last in points among chartered teams with driver Cody Ware.

"At the exact same time that Legacy has charted a path forward, RWR has flagged and flailed in the rear," it reads. Later on, it states that RWR is "strapped for cash" and that they have "recently faced mounting financial pressures."
RWR also owned a second charter, which they are currently leasing to RFK Racing.

WATCH: Kyle Larson Flips Car in Huge Crash at Plymouth
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. NASCAR hero Kyle Larson participated in the World of Outlaws series at the 1/3-mile Plymouth Dirt Track event when a supposed technical problem on the rear axle "launched" his car into the catch fence as he was drifting sideways. A video on X shows him chasing race leader Rico Abreu at high speed on Lap 7. But as soon as his car approached Turn 1, the rear wheel came loose, causing his car to flip and catapult straight into the catch fence. The car then struck the ground sideways, prompting a swift response from the emergency team. Fortunately, Larson was declared safe after the incident. Speaking after the huge crash on X, he said: Kyle Larson, driver of the #5 Chevrolet, prepares to practice for the NASCAR Cup Series Cracker Barrel 400 at Nashville Superspeedway on May 31, 2025 in Lebanon, Tennessee. "Just kinda launched me and along for the ride. Bummer, I felt really good, pacing Rico there, finally catching traffic, getting racing there. "Glad I'm okay. Big hits but all-in-all, feel fine." Hard Crash for Kyle Larson tonight at Plymouth. Fortunately, Larson was able to walk away from this one. — Toby Christie (@Toby_Christie) June 7, 2025 Larson has been racing in the World of Outlaws series since September 10, 2011. The 2021 NASCAR champion hit the 30-race wins milestone last year at Federated Auto Parts Raceway in Pevely. This shows his love for racing is not just limited to stock car racing. Last month, Larson attempted The Double by racing in the NASCAR Cup Series Coca-Cola 600 and the Indy 500 on the same day. This was his second attempt at securing the legendary feat, but unfortunately, he failed after crashing in the Indy 500 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Newsweek Sports reported his statement after the race. He said: "It was a bit crazy there on the start. "I got tight behind Takuma [Sato]. I was really close to him and I think I got loose and kind of got all over the place. Yeah, so I spun. Just hate that I got a little too eager there on the restart and caused that crash. So, hate it for everybody that also got caught up in it. "Just bummed out, so I'll try to get over this quickly and get on to Charlotte, and just forgot about it." The race start was also delayed by 45 minutes due to wet weather. When Larson was asked if that was on his mind, considering that he had another race to participate in, he said: "I don't know. I wasn't too focused on that." He added: "When I'm sitting there for 45 minutes, it was on my mind, but once we got racing, I wasn't really worried about that."

Ryan Blaney Breaks Silence on Cadillac F1 Rumor With Just One Word
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. A post on X from a parody account wrongly claimed that the Cadillac F1 team has reached out to NASCAR's Team Penske to have driver Ryan Blaney test their Formula One car. It also stated that Blaney would be eligible to receive a Super Licence to race in F1 if he finished 2nd this year. Blaney has responded with just a single three-letter word. Cadillac's F1 team has been gearing up for its premier class debut next year as the sport's eleventh team. The car is being developed in full swing to ensure it is competitive from the first year. Set to be the second American team on the grid, Cadillac joins at a crucial time as F1 enters a new era of regulations in 2026, where cars will be powered by an equal ratio of electric power to internal combustion through sustainable fuels. This is being done to comply with the sport's goal of being carbon neutral by 2030. MoreHowever, the big question Cadillac gets asked every time is about its driver lineup. While no name has been announced yet, Blaney being linked to the new F1 team for testing would certainly attract attention. Cadillac F1 team principal Graeme Lowdon confirmed in March that car components were being tested extensively and stressed that there was more work to be done. Newsweek Sports reported: "In terms of timeline for production, we're happy with where that stands. "We've been using a lot of time up to now doing a lot of testing and validation of individual components, things like testing of noses, squeeze testing of chassis elements and the like. "There's an awful lot of work that has gone on in the background. There's still a lot of work to do. "We're in a significantly better position now that we're now a fully-fledged F1 team. We will have access to all the data and information that all the other teams have." He added: "Now we can really push to come up with the most competitive car that we can. The team is already very sizeable, we're very comfortable about the position we're in, in terms of being ready to go racing in 2026." Blaney, however, has rejected the report of him testing for Cadillac. Commenting on the post on X, he said simply, "Nah." While many would have loved to witness a NASCAR-F1 crossover, it won't be happening this time.
