PTI supports talks with institutions
MARDAN:
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Provincial President Junaid Akbar has stated that while he and the party support negotiations with institutions, these institutions should not impose their decisions by force.
Speaking at a workers' convention held at Pakhtunkhwa House, Mardan, in connection with the February 8 Swabi protest, Akbar emphasized that there is no room for corrupt individuals in PTI. He vowed not to allow politics to be turned into a business.
He acknowledged that PTI had made mistakes in the past, which have contributed to the party's current challenges. However, he assured that sincere and dedicated workers would be given due respect and priority over those who secured positions and tickets through financial influence.
Other speakers at the event included PTI Provincial General Secretary Asghar Ali Khan, MNA Ali Muhammad Khan, Atif Khan, Mujahid Khan, Health Advisor Ihtisham Khan Advocate, Abdul Salam Afridi, and Tufail Anjum.
Addressing internal party matters, Akbar admitted the existence of multiple factions within PTI but pledged to present performance reports of all groups to Imran Khan. He reaffirmed his support for Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, stating that as long as the PTI founder trusts Gandapur, he will stand by him as well.

Listen to article The PTI-led Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government on Friday presented a Rs2,119 billion surplus budget for fiscal year 2025-26, featuring no new taxes, a 10% salary increase, and a 7% pension hike for government employees. The budget session, presided over by Speaker Babar Salim Swati, began with the recitation of the Holy Quran. Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Ameen Gandapur, opposition leader Dr Ebad Khan, PPP parliamentary leader Ahmed Kundi and leaders of all parties were in attendance. At the outset of the session, opposition members gathered in front of the speaker's desk, carrying placards and banners bearing slogans against alleged corruption and nepotism in the province. Earlier, Governor Faisal Karim Kundi declined to immediately summon the budget session, stressing that he would not act under political pressure. He emphasized that while he was legally bound to respond within 14 days, there was no obligation to comply instantly, especially under what he termed undue influence from the chief minister or other quarters. The chief minister has sent a summary to the governor, requesting to convene the assembly's budget session, but the governor has chosen not to return the summary immediately, leading to a delay in scheduling the session. Presenting the annual budget, Finance Minister Aftab Alam announced that estimated expenditures for the fiscal year 2025-26 would total Rs1,962 billion, with a projected surplus of Rs157 billion. Providing a breakdown, he said the government expects to receive Rs292.340 billion from the federal government for the merged tribal districts. This includes Rs80 billion in current budget grants, Rs39.600 under the Annual Development Program (ADP), Rs50 billion through the Accelerated Implementation Programme (AIP), Rs42.740 billion as inter-provincial share, and Rs17 billion for Temporarily Displaced Persons (TDPs). The minister added that the province anticipates Rs3.293 billion from the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP), Rs1,506.92 billion in federal transfers, Rs129 billion from provincial own-source revenues and Rs10.250 billion in other receipts, Rs291.340m from merged district receipts, and Rs177.188m in federal project assistance. He said Rs137.912 billion would be collected through the one percent share of the divisible pool allocated for the war on terror, Rs57.115 billion as straight transfers under gas and oil royalties, Rs58.151 billion from the windfall levy on oil, Rs34.580 billion as net hydel profit for current year, and Rs71.410 billion as net hydel profit arrears. The finance minister added that no new taxes have been imposed in the budget. Instead, the tax base has been broadened, with projected tax receipts of Rs83.500 billion and non-tax receipts of Rs45.500 billion for the upcoming fiscal year. Similarly, the other receipts of Rs10.25 billion would include capital receipts of Rs0.250 billion and Rs10 billion other ways and means and Rs1147.761 billion as federal tax assignment. The minister said the government has estimated Rs1,255 billion current expenditures for settled areas including Rs288.514 billion for provincial salaries, Rs288.609 billion tehsil salaries, Rs190.297 billion for pension, Rs334.028 billion for non-salary expenses, Rs65.657 billion on Medical Teaching Institutions (MTIs), Rs37.545 billion non-salary expenditure for tehsils, Rs40.350 billion capital expenditure and Rs10 billion under the head of "other ways and means". Similarly, the current expenditure of merged areas is estimated at Rs160 billion, including Rs56.842 billion for provincial salaries, Rs46.865 billion for tehsil salaries, Rs4.670 billion for pension, Rs24.285 billion for non-salary expenses, Rs17 billion for TDPs and Rs10.339b non-salary tehsil expenditure.

ATC issues arrest warrants of PTI workers
ISLAMABAD: The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Friday issued arrest warrants for the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers who did not appear before it in cases registered against them in connection with the November 26 cases. ATC judge Tahir Abbas Sipra, while hearing the cases, marked the attendance of workers who attended the hearing and adjourned the case registered at Aabpara police station until July 15 and Sangjani till July 14. The court expressed annoyance over the accused that failed to appear before the court and issued their arrest warrant. The court directed the police to arrest the accused and produce them before the court. PTI lawyer Sardar Masroof and Ayesha Khalid appeared before the court. Meanwhile, another court sent Chinese nationals allegedly involved to jail in a case registered against them in connection with online fraud. Police have produced eight nationals before judicial magistrate Abbas Shah, after completion of their physical remand. During the court proceedings, the prosecutor told the court that the accused had defrauded hundreds of citizens through online scams. The suspects had established offices in Pakistan to carry out their activities, yet nothing was registered in their own names—indicating an attempt to avoid legal accountability, he further said. Al-Qadir Trust case: Aleema slams delay in hearing appeals of IK, spouse
RAWALPINDI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founding chairman Imran Khan's sister Aleema Khan on Friday criticised the delay in hearing the appeals of Khan and his wife in the Al-Qadir Trust case, claiming that if the Islamabad High Court (IHC) takes up the matter, bail would be granted within minutes. Speaking to reporters outside an Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) after attending proceedings in the November 26 protest case, Aleema alleged that the Al-Qadir Trust case is being deliberately kept off the court's roster. 'Our lawyer Salman Safdar says this is a three-minute case,' she said, insisting that both Khan and his wife would be granted bail as soon as the case is heard. Aleema went on to allege that the case is so weak that, if legal arguments are presented, criminal proceedings could potentially be initiated against Judge Nasir Javed Rana - the judge who had sentenced Khan to 14 years in prison and his wife Bushra Bibi to seven years in the £190 million National Crime Agency (NCA) scam, commonly known as the Al-Qadir Trust case. She also voiced dissatisfaction with the Islamabad Bar Association (IBA) president, saying that lawyers have expressed no confidence in IBA president, Wajid Gilani. Criticising what she called political double standards, she said, 'You ask for votes by making promises, and then go on to support the 26th Constitutional Amendment.' Aleema appealed to lawyers across the country to stand up for the rule of law, saying, 'We consider you our leaders when it comes to defending justice', adding that 'today, I am telling the legal community that the law is being buried.' Khan's sister urged the legal community once again to take a stand, especially in the wake of the 26th Amendment, warning that the 27th is coming. 'If anything remains in burying the constitution and the rule of law that will be completed with another amendment,' she cautioned. Earlier, she, along with PTI leaders, appeared before ATC judge Amjad Ali Shah in cases registered in connection with the November 26 protest. Khan's sister and PTI's Punjab chief organiser Aliya Hamza appeared before the court along with their lawyers. Aliya Hamza appeared before the court in four cases registered against her in connection with PTI's November 26 protest. The court extended Aliya Hamza's interim bail until June 27, while the interim bail of Aleema Khan was extended till June 26 in a case registered against her at Sadiqabad police station.
