Pelicans acquire a second 2025 first-round draft pick from the Pacers in exchange for a 2026 pick
NEW ORLEANS (AP) — The Indiana Pacers have agreed to trade their 23rd overall choice in next week's NBA draft to New Orleans for a 2026 first-round pick, the Pelicans announced Tuesday.
The deal gives the Pelicans two first-round picks — the seventh and 23rd overall — in the draft, raising the prospect that New Orleans could package both in a deal to move up in the first round next Wednesday.
The Pelicans also will receive the rights to Mojave King, a 2023 second-round draft choice who has played for Indiana's G League affiliate as well as overseas in Puerto Rico and New Zealand.
The Pacers are getting back a 2026 pick they had traded to the Toronto Raptors in a 2024 deal sending Pascal Siakam to Indiana. Last February, Toronto dealt that pick to New Orleans as part of a trade that sent Brandon Ingram to the Raptors.
The Pacers are the reigning Eastern Conference champions and currently trail the Oklahoma City Thunder, 3-2, in the best-of-seven NBA Finals, with Game 6 scheduled for Thursday in Indianapolis.

NEW YORK (AP) — Sabrina Ionescu had her second consecutive 34-point game, and the New York Liberty rallied from a 17-point deficit in the second half to edge the Atlanta Dream 86-81 on Tuesday night. The Liberty trailed 62-47 midway through the third quarter before taking over behind Ionescu's 15 points and Breanna Stewart's 11. Stewart finished with 23 points. The game marked the end of the Commissioner's Cup games. Both teams entered with 3-1 records, tied with Indiana. Atlanta would have advanced to the final with a win but Indiana, which beat Connecticut 88-71, had the tiebreaker over the Liberty thanks to the Fever handing New York its first loss of the season on Saturday. Jonquel Jones had 10 points and 10 rebounds for the Liberty (10-1). Rookie Te-Hina Paopao led the Dream (8-4) with 16 points, all in the first half. Allisha Gray added 14 points and Brionna Jones and Rhyne Howard both had 13. Paopao hit six of seven shots, with four 3s, to help the Dream take a 43-40 lead at the break. The Dream were hot to start the second half, hitting their first seven shots and racing to a 64-47 lead, the largest deficit of the season for New York. Then the Liberty closed on a 13-4 run to get within eight after three quarters. The Liberty's previous largest deficit was 16 on Saturday when they lost to Indiana. Natasha Cloud's three-point play with 3:56 to play tied the game at 76. The teams trade 3's before Stewart made the go-ahead layup and added another on the next possession to make it 83-79. Clark scores 20 and the Fever beat the Sun 88-71 in physical game to secure Commissioner's Cup spot
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Caitlin Clark had 20 points, six assists and four 3-pointers and the Indiana Fever beat the Connecticut Sun 88-71 on Tuesday night in a physical game that included three late ejections. With 46.1 seconds left in the fourth quarter, Connecticut guard Jacy Sheldon made a steal and raced the other way before being wrapped up by Sophie Cunningham under the basket for a hard foul. Sheldon got up quicky and got into a shoving match with Cunningham, leading to Cunningham, Sheldon and Lindsay Allen all getting ejected. Sheldon was also the center of another official review in the third quarter after she poked Clark in the eye and then Marina Mabrey came in late to shove Clark to the floor. Three technical fouls were called, leading to Clark's three free throws for a 58-45 lead. The Indiana win, combined with an Atlanta loss to New York, secured the Fever's spot in the Commissioner's Cup with a 4-1 record. The Fever held the tiebreaker with the Liberty after a 102-88 win on Saturday. Kelsey Mitchell added 17 points and Natasha Howard had 16 points and 12 rebounds for Indiana (6-5), which went above .500 for the first time since the third game of the season. Pacers star Haliburton scheduled for MRI to evaluate leg injury: AP source
INDIANAPOLIS — Tyrese Haliburton's status for Game 6 of the NBA Finals is understandably in at least some doubt, after the Olympic gold medal-winning guard was undergoing evaluation Tuesday to determine the extent of the injury to his lower right leg. Article content Part of that evaluation was an MRI exam, according to a person with knowledge of the matter who spoke on condition of anonymity to The Associated Press because neither Haliburton nor the team revealed that publicly. ESPN first reported that an MRI was scheduled. Article content Article content Pacers coach Rick Carlisle did not specifically say that the MRI would be part of the team's next moves in figuring out how best to proceed with Haliburton, though he made clear that the Eastern Conference champions would be taking a close look at the injury.
