
18-year-old suspect in fatal Canton shooting arrested
CANTON – City resident Malachi L. Fortner, 18, has been booked in the Stark County Jail on charges of murder and felonious assault.
He is accused of fatally shooting Stephon Dunn, 21, of Canton in the 1500 block of Clarendon Avenue SW. Several 911 calls reported the shooting about 8:45 p.m. Friday.
Dunn was taken to Aultman Hospital for a gunshot wound to his back and died shortly thereafter.
Police had no description of the shooter at the time of the call and later issued arrest warrants for Fortner. He was arrested shortly after 10 p.m. Friday, according to Stark County Sheriff's Office records.
