Ferguson Twp. celebrates trees with Arbor Day celebration
STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (WTAJ) — Ferguson Township celebrated the positive power of trees with an Arbor Day Celebration.
The township celebrated at Haymarket Park with activities for families and friends. After township supervisors declared a proclamation to kick off the event, residents planted two trees and learned the importance of trees in the community through informational tables and crafts.
'Trees provide a variety of benefits,' Larry McGinnis, the arborist for Ferguson Twp., said. 'The cooling, wildlife habitat, carbon sequestration and reduced stormwater runoff. The benefits are endless.'
The celebration helped promote the township's dedication to making their area a better and more beautiful part of State College.
