Tampa Bay Lightning ink former Spartan to entry level contract
The offseason is underway in the National Hockey League, and teams are starting to prepare their organizations for the 2025-26 campaign. For the Tampa Bay Lightning, a former Spartan fit into the plans for what they wanted to do this offseason. Wojciech Stachowiak, a native of Gdansk, Poland, has been inked to a one-year entry level contract with the Lightning.
Stachowiak was a member of the Spartans hockey program from 2018-2020, where he appeared in 40 games. Since leaving East Lansing, he has been playing in the DEL, a German professional hockey league, for ERC Ingolstadt.

In 239 games with ERC Ingolstadt, Stachowiak has recorded 42 goals and 62 assists, while steadily improving his statistical output year after year. Stachowiak also represented Team Germany at the 2025 IIHF Men's World Championship and skated in all seven games, leading the team with three goals, while ranking second with six points.

Michigan State assistant coach to be his GM, it reminds me of the Charlotte Hornets under Michael Jordan when he hired Mitch Kupchak, former Chapel Hill guy, uh, UNC guy, Mitch Mitch Kupchak to be his GM and Buzz Peterson, Michael Jordan's roommate at college to be the assistant GM. It just feels like that recipe of of. Of hiring your buddies, hiring your college buddies, isn't necessarily a recipe for success, but it is something you can do as an owner. Advertisement Like, you pay $4 billion for this team. You want to take care of your guys, your buddies, you're more than welcome to do that. That is within your right. I just don't think that that is necessarily a recipe for success. And we've already seen. That Kevin Durant is reportedly gonna be shot this summer and might be on the trade block. It's not the first time that like friends have hired friends into the front office. We just saw over there in in in Utah that Danny Ainge, the CEO of the Utah Jazz, are hiring Austin Ainge, his son, to run the basketball ops for the team. So like keeping things all in the family, that's always been true in the NBA previous to the Jordan not higher. Advertisement The Phoenix Suns went with Monty Williams, who brought them to an NBA Finals. They went with Frank Vogel, who won an NBA championship. They went with Mike Budenhouser, who won an NBA championship. None of that worked, so why not get a guy who went to the same school as you? Like, if, if we're, if we're the, the process of going, like, we need somebody with championship experience, if that's not panning out, then try something different. Who knows? I I don't know, 40 year old guy with some good references and who went to the same school as me. Sure, what the hell? Why not? Let's give it a shot. Devin Booker, you like him? Advertisement Great. Sounds tremendous. Uh, you know, who knows? Uh, the, the, the process and the and the, the approach in the last few years in Phoenix has left something to be desired, a different process. Tampa Bay Lightning Re-Sign Defenseman Max Crozier To Three-Year Contract
The Tampa Bay Lightning announced they have re-signed defenseman Max Crozier to a three-year contract. The contract is a two-way deal for the 2025-26 season and transitions to a one-way contract for the remaining two seasons. Advertisement Crozier served as an assistant captain and recorded 34 points in 52 games with the Syracuse Crunch this season and went pointless while averaging 16:41 of ice time in five games with the Lightning. The 25-year-old had a strong season and will take on even more responsibility moving forward. He has two assists in 18 career NHL games and 58 points in 110 career NHL games. Originally a fourth round selection of the Lightning in 2019, Crozier won the USHL's Clark Cup in 2018-19 with the Sioux Falls Stampede and was a two-time Hockey East Third Team All-Star. The North Vancouver, B.C., native had 17 goals and 71 points in 119 career games with the NCAA's Providence College, he also served as captain in 2022-23 before joining the Crunch. Liverpool up their bid for Bayer Leverkusen's Florian Wirtz to £113m
Liverpool have increased their offer for Florian Wirtz to £113m in an attempt to seal a club record deal for the Bayer Leverkusen attacking midfielder. The Premier League champions had a £109m bid for the Germany international rejected last weekend but, following further talks between the two clubs, have submitted a new package that would guarantee Leverkusen £100m plus £13m in add-ons. The offer, however, still falls short of the German club's £126m valuation and Liverpool appear unwilling to meet their asking price. Negotiations will continue in an attempt to conclude what would be Liverpool's record transfer. Wirtz has made it clear he is keen to complete a move to Anfield and Liverpool are confident a deal will be struck for the coveted 22-year-old.
