Selangor KPDN detains five men suspected of subsidised diesel fleet card fraud
SHAH ALAM: The Selangor branch of the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) detained five men suspected of diesel fraud using subsidised fleet cards yesterday.
KPDN state director Mohd Zuhairi Mat Radey said the suspects, aged between 30 and 45, were arrested during a raid on an illegal storage site in Sri Muda, Section 25.
The operation, involving 25 KPDN officers and the Selangor Police Contingent headquarters, took place around 7 pm following a month-long intelligence gathering.
'We seized a 30-ton tanker truck, four canvas trucks, two bonded trucks each carrying intermediate bulk containers (IBC), a van and a modified prime mover,' he told reporters after the operation concluded late last night.
Mohd Zuhairi added that over 7,000 liters of diesel were recovered from 14 IBC tanks with 1,000-litre capacity each, along with equipment such as motorised pumps and connecting hoses believed to be used for illegal extraction and transfer of diesel.
He said the premises lacked a valid license to store subsidised diesel, while the detained bonded truck drivers also did not possess legal documentation to hold the controlled item.
'The modus operandi involved bonded truck drivers using fleet cards to purchase subsidised diesel at petrol stations around Shah Alam,' he explained.
The case is being investigated under the Control of Supplies Act 1961, focusing on identifying individuals, companies and distribution networks involved in the illegal diesel supply chain.

SEREMBAN: The Negri Sembilan Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) has foiled an attempt to siphon subsidised liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) worth an estimated RM50,000, following a raid on an illegal storage facility in Mantin. Its director, Muhammad Zahir Mazlan, said the raid was conducted under Ops Gasak after a week-long surveillance of the syndicate's activities. "The raiding team successfully seized 150 LPG cylinders of various brands and sizes, along with decanting equipment and several business documents believed to have been used in the illegal operation. "The total value of the seizure is estimated to exceed RM50,000. "The case is being investigated under the Control of Supplies Act 1961, which provides for a maximum fine of RM1 million, or imprisonment of up to three years, or both, upon conviction," he said.

Johor KPDN busts LPG misappropriation activity in Simpang Renggam
KLUANG: The Johor Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) successfully busted a liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) misappropriation activity in Kampung Parit Haji Hashim, Simpang Renggam, here at 6 pm yesterday (May 28), with seizures totaling RM61,000. Its director, Lilis Saslinda Pornomo, stated that this operation, conducted at an LPG storage facility within an oil palm plantation, was the result of two weeks of intelligence gathering by the team. She said that inspections found gas cylinders and connecting hoses believed to be used to transfer LPG from subsidized 14-kilogram (kg) cylinders to 50-kg industrial cylinders. 'A total of 247 gas cylinders were found, and the modus operandi of this syndicate was to purchase subsidized LPG cylinders at RM26.40 per cylinder and transfer the content to industrial cylinders. 'Each industrial cylinder can be filled with the equivalent of three subsidized LPG cylinders, allowing this syndicate to reap profits of between RM50 and RM70 per cylinder, with a selling price of between RM120 and RM150. 'This misappropriation activity is also believed to be targeted at the black market,' she said at a press conference here today adding that although no arrests were made, further investigations are ongoing to identify the landowner and individuals involved in the activity. According to her, remote locations within plantations like this are often used for misappropriation activities because they are difficult for authorities to detect. The case is being investigated under the Control of Supplies Act 1961.

Op Gasak: Authorities bust syndicate misusing subsidised LPG
KLUANG: The Johor Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry foiled a suspected illegal decanting operation involving liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) during a raid at a storage facility in Simpang Renggam today. The operation, conducted under Op Gasak, followed days of intelligence gathering and surveillance. Its director Lilis Saslinda Pornomo said officers discovered numerous LPG cylinders and hose connectors at the premises, believed to have been used to siphon subsidised gas from 14kg domestic cylinders into larger 50kg tanks intended for industrial use. "This unauthorised activity, known as decanting, is a serious offence under the Control of Supplies Act 1961. "A total of 247 LPG cylinders, both filled and empty, of various brands and sizes, along with equipment, were seized," she said in a statement today. The estimated value of the seizure is RM61,000, she said. She said durther investigations are ongoing to trace the supply chain and identify the individuals or companies involved, including the origin of the LPG and its distribution network. "If convicted, individuals face a maximum fine of RM1 million, up to three years' imprisonment, or both, while repeat offenders risk fines of up to RM3 million or five years' jail. "Companies may be fined up to RM2 million, and up to RM5 million for subsequent offences," she said. She said stern action would be taken against any syndicate found misusing subsidised controlled goods.
