Kayden Moy: Dad's tribute to son who died in Irvine Beach stabbing

Sky News19-05-2025

Tributes have been paid to a 16-year-old boy who died after being stabbed at a beach in Ayrshire.
Kayden Moy was found seriously injured following a report of a disturbance at Irvine Beach at around 6.45pm on Saturday.
The teenager, from East Kilbride in South Lanarkshire, received medical care at the scene before being taken to hospital, where he died on Sunday.
Police Scotland launched an investigation and arrested a 17-year-old boy.
Kayden's father, Paul Moy, paid tribute to his son in a post on Facebook.
He said: "My first-born son, my big boy, my best friend, my main man, my everything. Rest easy, my boy."
A GoFundMe fundraiser for Kayden's family has been launched by Busby AFC, where Kayden played in the youth set-up for "several" years.
The grassroots football community club said it was "devastated" over the teenager's death.
In a statement, a spokesperson added: "It has hit everyone hard.
"Kayden's grandfather is a long-term volunteer, player, coach and friend of the club. He currently spends his weeknights and weekends coaching Kayden's younger brother who currently plays in our junior section too.
"We are aware that nothing will ever replace the life of an individual but we hope that this fundraising will help Kayden's family at this extremely difficult time."
More than £6,000 has been raised so far.
Scottish Labour MSP Monica Lennon also passed on her "sincere condolences" to Kayden's family and friends.
In a post on X, she added: "It's devastating that 16-year-old Kayden Moy went to the beach and never came home, robbed of his life and future.
"This heartbreaking and violent tragedy will stun East Kilbride and Scotland. Enough is enough."
A website has been set up to allow members of the public to submit information directly to officers investigating the incident.
Detective Chief Inspector Campbell Jackson previously said: "From our investigation so far, we know there were a number of people on the beach around the time of the disturbance.
"We believe several of them were filming at the time and may have footage of what happened.
"I would urge people to review the footage they have and contact police if they think the footage captured could be of significance to our investigation."

M&S website resumes online orders six weeks after cyber-attack

Marks & Spencer has reopened its website to shoppers, six weeks after it was forced to halt online orders after a cyber-attack. The retailer said on its website that customers 'can now place online orders with standard delivery to England, Scotland and Wales'. Deliveries to Northern Ireland 'will resume in the coming weeks'. 'We will resume click and collect, next-day delivery, nominated-day delivery and international ordering in the coming weeks,' it said. The retailer is estimated to have been losing about £25m in online clothing and homewares sales a week after it was forced to stop taking orders on its website within days of 'threat actors', thought to be a hacking collective known as Scattered Spider, gaining access to its systems over the Easter weekend. The company expects the hack to cost it up to £300m in profits this year, although about half of that is expected to be offset by insurance and other measures. It has previously said disruption to its website could last until July, and some online services are not expected to restart immediately. Shoppers have been able to browse online, as well as shop in M&S's physical stores using cash or cards for most of the period since the hack. However, stocks of food and clothing in stores have also been affected, meaning that M&S has lost out during a busy period for retailers as a warm, sunny spring has driven an unexpected rise in household spending. M&S has also admitted that some personal information relating to thousands of customers – including names, addresses, dates of birth and order histories – was taken in the cyber-attack. The attack on M&S emerged days before cyber-attacks were reported by the Co-op and Harrods. More recently, the sportswear brand Adidas and the lingerie group Victoria's Secret have also been targeted.

Boy stabbed to death was 'funny, caring and hardworking', family say

A "funny, caring and hardworking" 14-year-old boy who was fatally stabbed in north Manchester has been named as Ibrahima Seck. Ibrahima was found with stab wounds in New Moston after Greater Manchester Police were called to reports of a serious assault around 5pm on Sunday. Despite the efforts of the emergency services and air ambulance staff, he died in hospital. In a statement released by Greater Manchester Police, the teenager's parents said: "Ibrahima was a well-liked young boy. He was funny, caring, and hardworking. "He was our best friend." They added: "He was so smiley and always made everybody laugh. He was a good boy. "Why would anyone do this to him? He does nothing wrong." Police have detained a 14-year-old boy on suspicion of murder after having arrested two boys aged 14 and 16 on suspicion of the same charge. A 14-year-old girl and a 37-year-old woman are being held on suspicion of assisting an offender. Ibrahima ran to a nearby house after being injured, according to the Manchester Evening News, and told the resident: "I don't want to die." "He just came through the door and said, 'I've been stabbed'," they told the newspaper. "We sat him down on a chair and phoned an ambulance. "He just kept saying, 'I don't want to die'." Detective Chief Inspector Tony Platten said: "Firstly, the force and I would like to pass on our condolences to Ibrahima's loved ones and we will continue to support them at this sad time. "This incident that has seen a young boy sadly die has understandably rocked the local community in New Moston. "We have made significant headway in the investigation which has seen us arrest another suspect on suspicion of murder, that takes the arrest total up to five and we are continuing with questioning those suspects today."
