This star player returns to the field after 4000 days, stuns opponents by..., his name is ...
James Anderson: England's legendary fast bowler James Anderson returned to T20 cricket after 11 years and recorded the best performance of his T20 career while playing for Lancashire against Durham in a match. This is a symbol of his amazing ability. The 42-year-old English fast bowler, who retired from international cricket last year, has not played a T20 match since 2014. In Tests, this brilliant batsman has taken 704 wickets and a total of 991 international wickets. Anderson is currently associated with his county team Lancashire on a one-year contract. Even at the age of 42, Anderson looked in his old style as he bowled three overs in the powerplay against Durham. In the match played at the Riverside Ground in Chester-le-Street, Anderson took the wickets of both Durham openers Alex Lees and Graham Clark. Anderson used a lot of movement and bite to produce figures of 2-15 in the powerplay. He returned in the 11th over to take the third wicket. He dismissed Colin Ackermann and finished his spell with figures of 3-17. This was Anderson's best performance in T20 cricket, before this he had taken 3 wickets for 23 runs, which he achieved in a T20 match against the Netherlands in 2009. This was the last year when Anderson represented England in T20 cricket. Next month Anderson will complete one year of retirement from Tests and ODIs. Seeing Anderson's bowling, everyone is praising his fitness. Anderson took his first wicket in his second over, returning after conceding a six and a four off the first three balls to dismiss Clarke. Anderson dismissed all three of Durham's top batsmen, a bowling effort that ensured the hosts could only manage 150 runs on the day. Anderson's contribution was also crucial, as Durham's spirited bowling effort meant Lancashire had to play out their full 20 overs to chase down a target of 151. This is a marked improvement from Anderson's last T20 match, in which he conceded 52 runs without taking a wicket against Warwickshire during the 2024 Blast Final. Anderson's return helped Lancashire start their Vitality Blast campaign with a third consecutive win, a record so far. They had already beaten Worcestershire and demolished Nottinghamshire in their first two matches of the season.

Kane Williamson again turns down a central contract with New Zealand Cricket
Ex-captain Kane Williamson has again rejected a central contract with New Zealand Cricket and likely will miss the Black Caps two test tour to Zimbabwe next month. Williamson also decided not to accept a central contract last year, to leave himself free to play in Twenty20 and other leagues around the world. He instead signed a casual contract last year and still played in nine of New Zealand's 13 tests in 2024, scoring more than 1,000 runs. Williamson was absent from the list of 20 contracted players released by New Zealand Cricket on Tuesday (June 3, 2025), along with Devon Conway, Finn Allen, Tim Seifert and Lockie Ferguson who also are playing in T20 leagues overseas. He is expected again to sign a casual contract. Allrounders Muhammad Abbas and Zak Foulkes, wicketkeeper Mitch Hay and spinner Adi Ashok are contracted for the first time in the absence of Tim Southee, who has retired, Ish Sodhi, Ajaz Patel and Josh Clarkson. Williamson currently is playing for Middlesex in the English County Championship and T20 Blast and for the London Spirit in The Hundred. He is expected to have county commitments while New Zealand plays Zimbabwe in late July and early August. In a news conference in London last month, Williamson said that his future on a casual contract is 'just a work in progress and New Zealand Cricket have been great with working with that and I've been fortunate throughout.' The 20 contracted players were ranked on domestic and international performances over the past year. 'The contracts with Mitch, Muhammad, Adi and Zak reflect the incredible talent coming through our system,' New Zealand Cricket chief executive Scott Weenink said. 'These players have shown they can compete at the highest level and their hunger to represent the Black Caps is exciting. We're thrilled to see this group drive our team forward.'
