Man allegedly fakes accident at Penang mall car park
A shopper at a shopping complex in Penang recently alleged witnessing a man faking an accident in the car park.
Posted on Facebook page Penang Kini, the shopper claimed that the man threw himself in front of an oncoming vehicle.
The viral post showed an image of a man lying facedown on top of a car's front bonnet.
'I believe he is trying to extort money.
'I hope everyone stays alert if they come across this man, and please call the police immediately,' the shopper warned in the post.
Netizens were angered by the man's actions, not only for putting himself in danger but also for allegedly harassing the driver at the shopping mall.
'This happened to me once. I honked continuously, and the person got up from my car and walked away,' one user recalled.
'Next time, please call the police and wait for them to resolve the issue,' another netizen suggested.
'This incident should be reported to the shopping mall's management for further action,' advised another user.

Perak police chief Datuk Noor Hisam Nordin urged netizens to act responsibly and to refrain from exploiting the tragedy for personal gain. "I would like to advise the public to remain respectful and not take advantage of this heartbreaking incident. If you had been at the scene, I believe members of the media would agree that it was a truly devastating event. Our focus should be on preventing similar tragedies from happening again. "I understand that this matter will be discussed at cabinet level today," he told a press conference at the Perak Police Contingent Headquarters today. He was responding to public outrage over a Facebook post by a user identified as Khalid Yunus, who had written: "15 UPSI Students Die in Disgrace!" and claimed that the students were "not considered believers because they died in debt to PTPTN (National Higher Education Fund Corporation)." The post has since been deleted, and the user has issued a public apology. Noor Hisam said that no formal reports had been lodged regarding the post. "We have a team actively monitoring such content. If any posting crosses the line or if a police report is lodged, we will investigate accordingly," he said. It was earlier reported that the bus, carrying 42 UPSI students, was travelling from Jertih, Terengganu, to the university's main campus when it collided with a Perodua Alza at KM53 of the East-West Highway. Thirteen students died at the scene, while two others were pronounced dead in hospital.

Law to hold companies to task needed, says Azalina
PETALING JAYA: There should be more decisive action against those responsible for road accidents that result in loss of life, says Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said (pic). The Law and Institutional Reform Minister said there is a need to reassess the effectiveness of law enforcement. 'Perhaps it is time to evaluate our laws and consider introducing changes to the Penal Code or enacting a new law, akin to the United Kingdom's approach,' she said in a Facebook post yesterday. She was referring to the UK's Corporate Manslaughter and Corporate Homicide Act, which prosecutes companies for safety management failures leading to death. 'This legislation allows for companies to be held accountable for negligence that results in fatalities,' she said. Azalina said the Act was a response to workplace fatalities where corporate entities previously evaded criminal liability. 'This is especially relevant for companies providing transportation services, as it involves human lives,' she added. Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek said the ministry has a standard operating procedure, including on safety checks, concerning the use of buses by student groups. She said the ministry has directed the Kedah Education Department to look into the welfare of a couple, both teachers, who were involved in the accident with the bus in Gerik, Perak. The couple is receiving treatment at Hospital Baling, Kedah. Deputy Works Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan said the road where the accident happened is in good condition and was last maintained on Friday. He dispelled talk about the existence of potholes on that stretch had caused the bus tyre to burst thus leading to the tragedy. 'I would like to state that there was no punctured tyre and there were no potholes on that section,' he told reporters in Tuaran, Sabah, Bernama reported. Ahmad said a check at the location showed that there is a road sign warning of a bend ahead in the area. 'However, whatever happens, we will leave it to the special task force to investigate the accident. We do not want to make accusations, especially about technical issues,' he said. Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye, chairman of the Alliance for a Safe Community, called for an overhaul of safety measures for commercial vehicles. 'It's time to elevate our commitment to road safety and ensure that every journey is as safe as it can be,' he said, highlighting the need for strict compliance with the Industry Code of Practice of the Land Public Transport Agency. He cited the mandatory elements that bus and truck operators must adhere to, which include appointing a safety officer, utilising GPS for monitoring speed and driver behaviour, and establishing robust emergency response plans. Lee also noted the importance of enhancing driver management, vehicle upkeep and journey planning to create a safer transportation environment. 'We must prioritise rigorous training, regular vehicle checks and vigilant route management,' he added.

SHAH ALAM – A Facebook group sharing explicit content involving underage children has triggered national outrage after social media personality, Caprice exposed its existence through a series of Instagram posts. With over 12,000 members, the group, believed to be active since 2014, has been condemned for its disturbing focus on school-aged children. Caprice took to Instagram to reveal the existence of a Facebook group named 'Group Budak2 Sekolah Rendah,' where members share indecent content involving school children, particularly girls in uniform. Caprice stated that the group, which has now surpassed 12,000 members, openly features inappropriate comments and lewd discussions by adult men, including senior citizens. 'Admin, surrender yourself at the police station within 48 hours. If you do, I won't expose the faces of the group members, including the admin. Don't think we can't trace you...' Caprice posted in a recent Instagram Story. His investigations also revealed that the Facebook group has been active for over a decade and was run by two individuals: a man and a woman. Even more disturbing, the group was set to 'public,' making the vile content accessible to anyone online. Caprice confirmed he had lodged a report with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) and had also tagged the police force as well as the Minister of Communications, Fahmi Fadzil, for further action. Mek Yun also spoke about society's moral responsibility to protect children from such exploitation. 'Who else is going to protect those kids and our children if not us?' she asked. Public reaction has been swift and fierce, with social media users flooding the comments sections on Caprice's and Mek Yun's posts to express disgust, support and determination to see justice served. Many rallied around the noble actions of those who brought the issue to light. 'The older one gets, the closer they should be to God, not chasing lust like mad,' a commenter posted. 'Good job Caprice, fast action on this issue. Serves those old perverts right,' a comment read on Caprice's Instagram post. 'If all you think about is what's below the waist, how are you different from an animal?' an enraged comment read. Despite the overwhelming backlash and exposure, no official statement has been issued by the police or relevant authorities on follow-up action at the time of press. The public continues to tag official bodies, demanding that legal action be taken against the administrators and members of the group.
