Morshedy Group acquires iconic Zamalek Tower in EGP 750m deal
Morshedy Group, led by businessman Mohamed Morshedy, has acquired the landmark Fouda Tower in Zamalek from a major state-owned bank in a deal worth EGP 750m.
This strategic acquisition aligns with Morshedy Group's expansion plans, furthering its commitment to high-end developments while supporting the state's initiative to increase hotel capacity. As part of the deal, the group has also secured an adjacent 4,000 sqm plot, which will be transformed into a modern parking facility to enhance accessibility for the tower's future residents and visitors.
Nour Morshedy, CEO of Morshedy Group, emphasized that the redevelopment of the tower will not only elevate Zamalek's real estate landscape but also preserve the area's natural beauty. She revealed that the company plans to convert the 50-story tower into a luxury mixed-use development, featuring both high-end residential units and a premium hotel.
Founded in 1983 by Mohamed Morshedy, the group has established itself as a key player in the real estate sector, known for its innovative and distinctive architectural designs. With a portfolio of over 21 projects and a client base exceeding 80,000, Morshedy Group continues to expand its footprint in Egypt's property market.

A new report from Egypt's Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) reveals a significant increase in Egypt's trade with the BRICS bloc. Egyptian exports to BRICS nations rose by 31.5%, from $688 million to $905 million, in the period from January to December 2024, following Egypt's official admission to the alliance. Unemployment rates saw declines in several member states between 2014 and 2023: Egypt's rate fell from 13% to 7%, Iran's from 10.6% to 8.1%, and Russia's from 5.2% to 3.2%. Conversely, unemployment rates increased in Brazil (from 7% to 7.7%) and South Africa (from 24.9% to 32.1%) during the same period.

Amir Hagag Dr. Badr Abdel Aty, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration, stressed the need to maintain the stability of international navigation lanes and enhance regional cooperation among the countries bordering the Red Sea to preserve the security of the Red Sea and ensure freedom of international navigation. During his meeting with Annette Weber, the European Union Special Representative for the Horn of Africa, on the sidelines of his participation in the Oslo Forum, the Minister of Foreign Affairs stressed that any threat to the security of the Red Sea directly impacts the global economy, especially in light of the growing challenges facing the region.
