FBI investigating 'targeted terror attack' in Colorado
WASHINGTON: FBI director Kash Patel said on Sunday the agency was aware of and fully investigating a targeted terror attack in Boulder, Colorado.
While he did not provide further details, Patel said in a social media post: "Our agents and local law enforcement are on the scene already, and we will share updates as more information becomes available."
According to CBS News, which cited witnesses at the scene, a suspect attacked people with Molotov cocktails who were participating in a walk to remember the Israeli hostages who remain in Gaza.
The Boulder Police Department said it was responding to a report of an attack in the city involving several victims. It has not released further details but a press conference was expected at 4pm Mountain Time (2200 GMT).
The attack comes just weeks after a Chicago-born man was arrested in the fatal shooting of two Israeli embassy employees in Washington, D.C.
Someone opened fire on a group of people leaving an event hosted by the American Jewish Committee, an advocacy group that fights antisemitism and supports Israel.
The shooting fuelled polarisation in the United States over the war in Gaza between supporters of Israel and pro-Palestinian demonstrators. - Reuters

Xinhua 03 Jun 2025, 14:46 GMT+10 BEIJING, June 3 (Xinhua) -- China has launched an "ASEAN (the Association of Southeast Asian Nations) Visa" for the 10 ASEAN countries and ASEAN observer Timor-Leste, Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Lin Jian told a regular press briefing on Tuesday. According to Lin, China will issue the corresponding category of "ASEAN Visa" for business personnel from the 11 countries, as well as their spouses and children, who meet the requirements. The visa will allow multiple entries within five years and a maximum stay period of 180 days. Lin said the "ASEAN visa" is launched on the basis of the comprehensive mutual visa exemption with Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia and other countries and the issuance of the "Lancang-Mekong visa" to Mekong River countries, aiming to further facilitate the cross-border movement of people within the region. In recent years, the building of the China-ASEAN community with a shared future has been continuously advanced, and important achievements have been made in jointly building a common home that features peace, tranquility, prosperity, a beautiful environment, and friendship, Lin noted. Oil edges up as geopolitical concerns and weaker dollar support
JAKARTA/SINGAPORE (Reuters): Oil edged up on Tuesday, in the face of rising geopolitical tensions as the war in Ukraine ramped up despite peace talks in Turkey and Iran was set to reject a US nuclear deal proposal that would be key to easing sanctions on the major oil producer. Crude had gained nearly 3% on Monday after the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries and allies, known as OPEC+, kept its July output hike at 411,000 barrels per day, the same as earlier months and less than some in the market had feared. Brent crude futures gained 45 cents, or 0.7%, to US$65.08 a barrel by 1154 GMT. U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude was up 31 cents, or 0.5%, to US$62.83. "Risk premia have filtered back into the oil price following deep Ukraine strikes on Russia over the weekend," said analyst Harry Tchilinguirian of Onyx Capital Group. "But more importantly for the barrel count, there is the to and fro between the U.S. and Iran regarding uranium enrichment." Ukraine and Russia at the weekend ramped up the war with one of the biggest drone battles of their conflict, a Russian highway bridge blown up over a passenger train and an attack on nuclear-capable bombers deep in Siberia. Iran, meanwhile, was poised to reject a U.S. proposal to end a decades-old nuclear dispute, an Iranian diplomat said on Monday, saying it fails to address Tehran's interests or soften Washington's stance on uranium enrichment.
