Hazy days, blocking sun rays, and rain may not ruin all of dad's day

ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM) – Quiet conditions will continue tonight though a cold front will kick off spotty showers. Thunderstorms cannot be ruled out starting Thursday evening. The showers are likely to be a standard feature through the end of the work week, and into next. The hazy sunshine is still going to be around as high pressure remains in control for most of Friday.
It is looking to be mainly dry, but 'tis the season for the constant chance of the pop-ups. Those rain chance continue through the weekend.
The pattern sticks around through this weekend with multiple chances for showers expected. The latest models show us less moisture to work with as the weekend draws closer, but there is moisture nevertheless which is why the rain chances can't completely go away.
The moisture starts to come in from the southwest and we're not likely to see the magnitude of rain that we experienced earlier in the week. By the time we get to Father's Day, there is a tiny change: Father Day on Sunday continues to see rain chances, but how much rain will depend on the track of the low moving to the east out of the Mississippi Valley.

Thursday, June 12 forecast: Flooding risk Friday, summer weather returns this weekend

The ducks and frogs are happy again, but you may not be. Clouds and showers made for a damp day, although we really haven't seen much rain so far. This may change by Friday. Download our KOLR 10 weather app A storm swirling out of Oklahoma will track across the Ozarks through Friday. As the system moves through, it will likely bring a more concentrated area of rain to the region tonight into Friday. The atmosphere is primed to produce rainfall, and the incoming system could lead to slow-moving pockets of heavier rainfall later tonight into Friday. The result will be locally heavy rainfall totals and even a low risk for flash flooding. A wet commute to work can be expected across much of the Ozarks Friday morning, with the rain becoming more scattered as it begins to pull east later in the day. Lightning and heavy rain will be the main weather concerns, with temperatures remaining unusually mild. Clouds will thin out from the west Friday night, opening the door to areas of fog by Saturday morning. Low clouds and fog won't persist too long, though, with sunnier weather developing by afternoon. Most areas look dry Saturday with temperatures climbing into the 80s. Rain chances will probably perk back up to the west and across Western Missouri and Northwest Arkansas heading into Sunday. Most areas to the east will remain dry again throughout the day Sunday, with temperatures climbing back into the 80s. We're definitely in a transition to summer conditions, and we'll find that into next week. The days will remain warm and humid. There will likely be a low chance for showers and thunderstorms each day, mainly in the afternoon and evening, but no day will be a washout. Afternoon highs will tend to be in the mid to upper 80s, trending higher by week's end as a summer ridge spreads out through the middle of the country. This will set the stage for our first 90° highs to show up over the next couple of weeks. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. Flash Flood Warning in Charlotte as storms expected through the weekend

(PINPOINT WEATHER – Good afternoon and happy Friday eve! After sunshine this morning, we are seeing a few showers and storms starting to pop up across portions of the Carolinas and will continue through the evening hours. More of the same is on the way, not just for Friday but through the holiday weekend, as the region is locked into an unsettled pattern that continues into next week. Along with the elevated rain chances the humidity will stay on the high side as the summer pattern locks in across the region. As for tonight and your Thursday, scattered showers and storms are expected to continue off and on throughout the evening hours with locally heavy possible. High humidity will keep overnight lows on the warm side with lows struggling just to drop below the 70-degree mark. Friday will be more of the same with highs in the mid to upper-80s along with more humidity. Showers and storms are expected to flare up during the afternoon and continue into the early evening hours. Father's Day weekend will bring more of the same across the Carolinas with highs in the mid to upper 80s for both Saturday and Sunday. Along with the warm and humid weather, scattered showers and storms are expected to flare up during the afternoon and evening hours each day with locally heavy rain possible. Heading into next week, more of the same is on the way for the Carolinas with a strong ridge keeping our temperatures in the upper 80s with elevated humidity. Afternoon showers and storms are expected each day next week through at least Wednesday. I hope you like the sound of thunder in the distance because you likely experience a decent amount of that over the next week! Have a great night! Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc.
