Musk attributes black eye to playful punch from son X at White House farewell
Elon Musk appeared at a White House press conference on Friday with a visible black eye, which he said was caused by his 5-year-old son, X Æ A-12.
The event marked the conclusion of Musk's 130-day tenure as head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
Musk explained that the bruise resulted from a playful interaction at home. 'I was horsing around with little X and told him to punch me in the face. He did,' Musk said during the briefing, held alongside President Donald Trump. 'I didn't feel it at the time, but it turned into this.'
President Trump responded lightheartedly, saying, 'That was X that did that? If you knew X, he could do it.'
The event included a formal farewell for Musk, during which Trump presented him with a symbolic golden key. According to DOGE figures, Musk's efforts led to over USD 175 billion in savings through canceled contracts, asset sales, and fraud reduction—an average of USD 1,087 per taxpayer.
Musk said he would continue supporting DOGE in an informal capacity and focus on his private ventures, including Tesla and SpaceX.
The press conference came hours after The New York Times published a report alleging Musk's use of controlled substances, including ketamine and psychedelic mushrooms, during his government service. Musk declined to directly address the claims, instead criticizing the publication's past reporting.
Musk also dismissed speculation about the source of his injury, joking that he had not been in France, referencing a recent viral video involving French President Emmanuel Macron.
Musk said his son was not present at the event and was with his mother, Canadian musician Grimes.

Macron condemns 'unacceptable' violence during football celebrations
French President Emmanuel Macron condemned Sunday "unacceptable" violence during celebrations following Paris Saint-Germain's Champions League final victory, as he welcomed the triumphant team to the Elysee palace. "Nothing can justify what has happened in the last few hours, the violent clashes are unacceptable," Macron said. "We will pursue, we will punish, we will be relentless," he added before congratulating the players on their win. Two people died and police made nearly 600 arrests across France overnight as fans celebrated PSG's 5-0 triumph over Inter Milan in Munich on Saturday. "The violent clashes that took place are unacceptable and have come at a heavy cost: two people are dead, around 30 police officers and several firefighters have been injured," Macron said. "My thoughts are also with the police officer in Coutances who is currently in a coma," he added, referring to the town in western France where a police officer was struck in the eye by a firework. Macron hosted PSG coach Luis Enrique and his team after their victory parade on the Champs-Elysees avenue, thanking the players for their quick condemnation of the violence. "These isolated acts are contrary to the club's values and in no way represent the vast majority of our supporters, whose exemplary behaviour throughout the season deserves to be commended," the club said Sunday. Macron also congratulated the team for their "sublime" victory over Inter Milan. "You are the champions and you have put Paris at the top of Europe," he said. "There were 11 of you on the field, but there was clearly a twelfth man -- the entire French public, regardless of traditional allegiances," Macron said, in a reference to his own loyalty to PSG's rival club Olympique de Marseille. It was the first time PSG has won the biggest prize in European club football. Many of the stars of the team, one of the youngest in the competition, are drawn from the huge football talent pool in the Paris suburbs after PSG's Qatari owners turned their back on the policy of signing star players like Neymar and Lionel Messi. A total of 11.5 million people tuned in across France to watch the match.

Trump pulls Musk ally's NASA nomination, will announce replacement
Ammon News - The White House withdrew on Saturday its nominee for NASA administrator, Jared Isaacman, abruptly yanking a close ally of Elon Musk from consideration to lead the space agency. President Donald Trump said he would announce a new candidate soon. "After a thorough review of prior associations, I am hereby withdrawing the nomination of Jared Isaacman to head NASA," Trump wrote on his Truth Social site. "I will soon announce a new nominee who will be mission aligned, and put America First in space." Isaacman, a billionaire private astronaut who had been Musk's pick to lead NASA, was due next week for a much-delayed confirmation vote before the U.S. Senate. His removal from consideration caught many in the space industry by surprise. Trump and the White House did not explain what led to the decision. "It may not always be obvious through the discourse and turbulence, but there are many competent, dedicated people who love this country and care deeply about the mission," Isaacman said in a post on X. His removal comes days after Musk's official departure from the White House, where the SpaceX CEO's role as a "special government employee" leading the Department of Government Efficiency created turbulence for the administration and frustrated some of Trump's aides. 'I am NOT taking drugs': Musk fires back at circulating allegations
Elon Musk has pushed back against claims that he extensively used ketamine and other drugs while advising President Donald Trump during the 2024 campaign season. In a post Saturday on X, Musk wrote, "To be clear, I am NOT taking drugs! The New York Times was lying their ass off." The statement followed a New York Times report that alleged the tech mogul and government adviser took large amounts of ketamine—enough to cause reported bladder issues—alongside other substances such as ecstasy and psychedelic mushrooms. Also, to be clear, I am NOT taking drugs! The New York Times was lying their ass off. I tried *prescription* ketamine a few years ago and said so on , so this not even news. It helps for getting out of dark mental holes, but haven't taken it since then. — Elon Musk (@elonmusk) May 31, 2025 According to the report, Musk also regularly carried a pill container throughout the year, though it remains unclear if drug use continued while he served as the head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), a role he assumed after Trump returned to office in January. Musk responded by reiterating a past admission, "I tried 'prescription' ketamine a few years ago and said so on X, so this not even news. It helps for getting out of dark mental holes, but haven't taken it since then." The controversy erupted the same day Musk made a bizarre final appearance in the Oval Office, ending his tenure as the administration's chief efficiency officer. Musk, sporting a visible black eye during the meeting with Trump, offered no immediate explanation for the injury. That changed when he later said he got the bruise while playfully sparring with his young son, X. "And he did. Turns out even a five-year-old punching you in the face actually is..." Musk said, trailing off during the explanation. The unusual timing of the injury—just hours after the Times' exposé—added to the online frenzy. The newspaper also cited erratic public behavior, including a salute at a pro-Trump rally in January that observers compared to Nazi symbolism. When asked Friday if he was aware of Musk's alleged drug habits, Trump replied, "I wasn't," but added, "I think Elon is a fantastic guy."
