This marks the second round of direct talks between Moscow and Kyiv.
According to Anadolu Agency, the trilateral meeting is chaired by Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, with the participation of Turkish Intelligence Chief Ibrahim Kalın and Chief of General Staff General Metin Gürak.
The Russian delegation includes Presidential Advisor Vladimir Medinsky, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin, Deputy Defense Minister Alexander Fomin, and the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the General Staff, Igor Kostyukov.
The Ukrainian delegation comprises Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, Deputy Foreign Minister Serhiy Kyslytsia, Deputy Head of the Security Service of Ukraine Oleksandr Poklad, and Deputy Head of Foreign Intelligence Oleh Luhovsky.
The agency reported that Ukraine has handed the Russian side a memorandum outlining its vision for ending the conflict, including principles and procedures for achieving peace. Russia is expected to present its own memorandum during the meeting.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced on Sunday that he had tasked a delegation, led by Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, to participate in peace negotiations to end the war.
Last Wednesday, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that his country had proposed a new round of talks in Istanbul on June 2, with Medinsky leading the Russian delegation.
It is worth noting that on May 15-16, Istanbul hosted peace talks between Russia and Ukraine, which concluded with an agreement to exchange 2,000 prisoners between the two sides.

Moscow: Kyiv list in Istanbul discloses claimed kidnap of children

Moscow - Saba: Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova announced that the list of 339 Ukrainian minors submitted by the Kyiv delegation in Istanbul came as a shock to those who had spent three years spreading cynical lies about "tens of thousands" of allegedly abducted children. Sputnik quoted Zakharova as saying on her Telegram channel: "Unfortunately, the UN Secretariat was one of the distributors of fake products. We remember well how they told stories about Bucha, about 'thousands of abducted Ukrainian children,' and accused Russian soldiers of committing sexual violence against Ukrainian women." She continued: "For three years, the Secretary-General (Antonio Guterres) has still not been able to obtain a list of Bucha's alleged victims, despite regular reminders from Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov." She added: "With the accusations against Russian soldiers, Guterres' representatives made a mockery of the whole world: they turned out to be completely fabricated, based on outright lies and the sick fantasies of representatives of the Kyiv regime. The stories about tens of thousands of allegedly abducted children also turned out to be false, as the list of wanted Ukrainian minors handed over in Istanbul (which has yet to be examined) includes only 339 people. This came as a shock to everyone involved in spreading this satirical hoax for three years." In April 2022, the Russian Ministry of Defense stated that photos and videos published by Kyiv, allegedly showing crimes committed by the Russian military in Bucha, Kyiv Oblast, constituted yet another Ukrainian provocation. It noted that during Russia's control of the city, no local residents were subjected to any violence. The Ministry of Defense noted that all Russian units had completely withdrawn from Bucha on March 30, 2022, and that the city's northern exits were not blocked. Meanwhile, the southern outskirts, including residential areas, were subjected to 24-hour shelling by Ukrainian forces with large-caliber artillery, tanks, and multiple rocket launchers. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Russia categorically rejected any accusations of involvement in the deaths in Bucha and called on international leaders not to rush to level arbitrary accusations against Russia but to listen to Moscow's arguments. Pakistan asks Russian President for help in settling dispute with India

Moscow - Saba: Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in a letter, asked Russian President Vladimir Putin for help in settling the dispute with India. This was announced by Syed Tariq Fatemi, Special Assistant to the Pakistani Prime Minister, on Wednesday during the Valdai Discussion Forum. Fatemi said: "Neighbors cannot live in a situation where they are ready to start a war at any moment. We have dispatched important figures to several countries—to the United States, Russia, and the European Union—showing our readiness to listen to any proposal from any country, from the United Nations, or from neutral countries between India and Pakistan. We are ready to sit with them and let them resolve the issue." The Pakistani official noted that he met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and delivered "a message from our prime minister and an appeal to His Excellency Mr. Putin. We have asked all these countries to use their influence so that India and Pakistan sit at the negotiating table and reach a peace agreement." Fatemi noted that Pakistan is awaiting any initiative from Russia that would reduce tensions in relations with India. He said, "We are here to see Russia's support for any initiative that would reduce tensions. Pakistan and India must come to the negotiating table." Indian-Pakistani relations deteriorated after the April 22 attack in Pahalgam (Jammu and Kashmir, India). On the night of May 7, the Indian Armed Forces launched Operation Sindur, claiming to have "targeted nine terrorist-related targets in Pakistan and its part of Kashmir." The Pakistani army responded. On May 10, the two sides agreed to a ceasefire and to consider reducing troop numbers on the border. Whatsapp Telegram Email Print more of (International)
