Tradespeople sought for TV show DIY SOS project in Beverley
Tradespeople are being sought to take part in a youth club build project for TV show DIY SOS.The programme is building a new home for the Cherry Tree Youth Club in Beverley, East Yorkshire.It aims to build a new facility in about eight days and is hosting an open day on 16 April in Mudhills Park, Burden Road, for tradespeople to come along to find out more.The DIY SOS build will start on14 May.

Presenter Nick Knowles told BBC Radio Humberside they were still looking for various trades including decorators, plasterers, landscapers and groundworkers as it was a build from the ground up."Basically, we rely on all the materials being donated and all of the tradespeople working for free," he said.Despite the pressures on people's finances, Knowles said they had probably had a greater response during the latest series than ever before."People really want to feel the world is a better place and most people would like to help people given the opportunity."The people who come along and join in feel great about themselves and it reiterates the message that community is alive and well."It's a really lovely health check for our society that it's much better than it appears in the news," he added.

Two arrests and birds seized in Bradford in cockfighting probe
Two men have been arrested and several cockerels seized from six properties in Bradford in connection with an investigation into animal man was arrested on Wednesday on suspicion of causing an animal fight to take place and taking part in an animal fight, while another man was arrested on suspicion of being present at an animal fight, according to West Yorkshire RSPCA confirmed its officers had joined police as warrants were carried out at six addresses in Bradford and two addresses in Burton-upon-Trent and Warrington as part of the investigation.A "number" of cockerels were removed during those operations and placed into the care of the RSPCA, a spokesperson said.
