The current Honda Civic Type R is absolutely outstanding, but for drivers in the U.S. who hadn't previously had the privilege of driving prior Civic Type Rs, its predecessor was a revelation. It drove better than any front-wheel-drive car had any right to, all while offering the daily practicality of a hatchback. But what if you wanted to throw that whole 'daily practicality' thing out the window and double down on driving better than it has any right to? Well, a seller on Cars & Bids has just the Civic Type R for you.
One look at the CTR in question tells you this car definitely isn't stock, but anyone can throw a wrap and an adjustable rear win on a Civic. Glance inside the car, though, and it's immediately clear you aren't looking at a heavily modified CTR. You're looking at a full-on race car. And while buying anyone else's build is always going to be sketchy, you at least get peace of mind of knowing that almost every single aftermarket part was sourced through HPD, so at least it should be good quality.
We don't have nearly enough space here to list every single modification the builder made, but rest assured the list is extensive. We're talking radiator and auxiliary oil coolers, upgraded cooling ducts, a Borla downpipe and exhaust, Bilstein inverted double adjustable dampers and Eibach race springs, RV6 rear adjustable stabilizer bar and rear lower arms, Girodisc two-piece front rotors and braided brake lines and Hasport polyurethane engine mounts among others. Many, many others. Including a cage and a fully stripped interior.
If you just want a CTR that's faster than your buddy's, then this probably isn't the car for you. It's a bonafide race car meant for laying down lap times, not carving canyons or tearing up winding back roads. It's not even street-legal and doesn't even come with a title. Instead, you'll have to settle for a bill of sale. So it's not a car for the overwhelming majority of people. On the other hand, if you've been thinking that you just have too much money and need to burn a little, why not get into touring car racing? You deserve it.

The Golf GTI Edition 50 Is The Fastest VW Ever at The Nurburgring
After Xiaomi broke the record for the fastest production EV at the Nürburgring , Volkswagen has its own reason to celebrate a recent performance at the Green Hell. However, this is more of a personal best than an outright record. The unreleased Golf GTI Edition 50 has been crowned the fastest VW-badged car to lap the challenging German track. The upcoming front-wheel-drive hot hatch completed the course in 7 minutes and 46.13 seconds, making it over a second quicker than the Golf R 20 Years Edition . It was also more than three seconds faster than the previous-generation Golf GTI Clubsport S. But the newcomer is actually even faster than both of those Golfs, as the GTI Edition 50 completed the longer 20.8-kilometer (12.9-mile) layout. Allow us to explain. The earlier lap times were recorded on the 20.6-kilometer (12.8-mile) configuration, which omits a 200-meter (656-foot) section. That shorter layout excludes the straight segment of the old start/finish near the T13 stands. On this version of the track, the special edition lapped the Nürburgring in just 7 minutes and 41.27 seconds. Although the GTI Edition 50 now holds the Nürburgring crown among Volkswagens, it still trails the Honda Civic Type R by 1.25 seconds. On the verge of exiting Europe due to stricter emissions regulations , the Japanese hot hatch remains the fastest front-wheel-drive car around the Nordschleife. Just over two years ago, the CTR completed the full 20.8-kilometer (12.9-mile) lap in 7 minutes and 44.88 seconds. We'll have to wait until June 20 for VW to officially unveil its fastest GTI ever. In the meantime, it's known that the lap time was set by a near-production test vehicle equipped with an optional Performance Package. For reference, the standard Golf GTI makes 261 hp from its turbocharged 2.0-liter engine. That same four-cylinder, codenamed 'EA888 LK3 evo4,' is tuned to 296 hp in the GTI Clubsport , though unfortunately, that variant isn't sold in the U.S. Onboard footage confirms the test car used a dual-clutch automatic transmission, which isn't surprising given that the GTI lost its manual gearbox with the launch of the Mk8.5 last year. The Golf R has also gone DSG-only, though lesser variants of the compact hatch still offer a stick in Europe. The only VW that might challenge the GTI Edition 50 is the Golf R Clubsport , provided it materializes. Regardless, the ID.R will remain the fastest Volkswagen overall to lap the Nürburgring overall. It's hard to imagine any road car from Wolfsburg coming close to the track-only electric racer's astonishing lap time of only 6 minutes and 5 seconds. This Honda Was a Jeep Cherokee in Another Life
Well, I'll be DAMneD. Japanese tuners have found a way to surprise us again. After Mitsuoka gave the Civic a Nissan Skyline makeover , another Honda now channels a Cherokee XJ vibe. If you're unfamiliar with the WR-V, you honestly haven't missed much. The weirdly named "Winsome Runabout Vehicle" is just another small SUV in a crowded field. With a front-wheel-drive layout and a continuously variable transmission, it won't exactly set your pulse racing. DAMD has come up with an ingenious way to give Honda's forgettable crossover a stronger personalit, albeit one borrowed from another model. Yes, this WR-V wants to be a second-generation Cherokee when it grows up. The old-school rectangular halogen headlights flank a Jeep -esque grille with, conveniently, only six slots. Had they added another, the tuner might've had to lawyer up. As for the LED daytime running lights below, they look as if they were lifted from a previous-gen Mercedes G-Class. Photo by: DAMD The tuner, known for its quirky G-Class and Defender projects, fully embraced an 1980s and early 1990s aesthetic with faux wood paneling along the sides. At the rear, DAMD didn't bother changing the taillights to mimic the XJ's vertical lights, but it did add a questionable piece of black plastic trim. The rear garnish swaps the Honda badge for a REVERB logo, calling out the package's official name. The whole shebang even includes a redesigned, squared-off hood and a chunky front bumper. While the standard WR-V is far from an off-roader, DAMD lifts the suspension by nearly 1.4 inches (35 millimeters) and wraps the 16-inch wheels in BF Goodrich All-Terrain T/A K03 tires sized 215/70 R16. There's not much going on inside, but customers can order plaid seat covers to emphasize the retro effect. The checkered pattern extends onto the front and rear center consoles, as well as the front seat pockets. It's a strange combination, but given how Japanese tuners consistently churn out unusual cosmetic packages, there's clearly a demand for unorthodox custom builds.
