PKR Election: Amirudin, Ramanan, Aminuddin, Chang Lih Kang Elected As Vice Presidents
JOHOR BAHRU, May 23 (Bernama) -- Three incumbent vice presidents of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) successfully defended their positions in the party election for the 2025-2028 session today.
They are Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun and Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Chang Lih Kang.
Amirudin obtained 7,955 votes, party deputy information chief 1 and Member of Parliament for Sungai Buloh Datuk Seri R. Ramanan (5,895 votes), Aminuddin (5,889 votes) and Chang obtained 5,757 votes.
Incumbent, Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, however lost in the race contested by 11 candidates.
Ramanan, who is also the Deputy Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives, is the new face who successfully received the mandate from delegates to shoulder the responsibility.
The official decision was announced by the chairman of the Central Election Committee (JPP) Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa, at the PKR 2024/2025 National Congress at Persada International Convention Centre, here tonight.
The congress, which was officiated by the president and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, was also attended by PKR Advisory Council chairman Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail and the party's top leadership.
Also present were Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) president Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu, DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke, United Progressive Kinabalu Organisation (UPKO) president Datuk Ewon Benedick, Barisan Nasional secretary-general Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir and PBB secretary-general Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi.
Meanwhile, AMK deputy chief Muhammad Kamil Abdul Munim, who is also the political secretary to the Minister of Finance, was announced as the uncontested winner for Angkatan Muda Keadilan (AMK) chief.

According to Yonhap news agency, the 20-minute call took place on Thursday (June 5) and was described by the presidential office as friendly and constructive. Trump congratulated Lee on his recent election victory. In response, Lee reaffirmed that the South Korea-US alliance remains the foundation of Seoul's foreign policy, presidential spokesperson Kang Yu Jung said in a written briefing. "The two leaders agreed to work toward swiftly reaching a mutually satisfactory agreement,' the office said, referring to ongoing negotiations on tariffs. To that end, they agreed to encourage tangible outcomes in working-level talks.' The call came just two days after Lee's inauguration, marking a return to high-level diplomacy following the ouster of former President Yoon Suk Yeol in April over his failed martial law attempt. Lee and Trump discussed a range of bilateral issues, including the July 8 deadline to resolve tariff negotiations. In April, the Trump administration imposed 25 per cent tariffs on South Korean goods but granted a three-month suspension to allow time for talks. The presidential office confirmed that Trump invited Lee to visit the US. Lee welcomed the idea and expressed hope for frequent consultations between the allies. Both sides agreed to arrange a face-to-face meeting at the earliest opportunity -- either on the sidelines of a multilateral forum or through an official bilateral visit -- for more in-depth discussions on strengthening the alliance. M'sia committed to disaster risk reduction for education

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said he conveyed this message during a ministerial roundtable themed 'Safe Schools' at the Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction in Geneva yesterday. 'This policy focuses on comprehensive risk reduction across all sectors, including the safety and continuity of education,' he said in a statement yesterday, reported Bernama. According to Ahmad Zahid, one of the key initiatives highlighted was the development of the Disaster Risk Reduction Education Module by the Education Ministry, Unicef Malaysia and the National Disaster Management Agency (Nadma), which will benefit nearly 7,800 primary schools nationwide. He said the module emphasises experiential learning, hands-on training and active student engagement, in line with the Asean Agreement on Disaster Management and Emergency Response framework. To ensure comprehensive implementation, Ahmad Zahid said Malaysia is also exploring strategic collaborations with non-governmental organisations, private companies and government-linked companies. 'At the same time, Nadma's community-based disaster risk management programme successfully engaged nearly 44,000 Malaysians, including over 12,000 youths, over the past year,' he added. He also shared Malaysia's initiative to build permanent relief centres in high-risk school areas, with a federal government allocation of RM135mil. These centres will function as shelters during disasters and serve as community learning hubs during normal times. 'Malaysia has also expressed its readiness to share expertise and foster cross-border collaboration in strengthening global school safety. 'We believe that investing in resilience today is the best protection for our children's future,' he said. The Deputy Prime Minister led the Malaysian delegation to the eighth session of the meet in Geneva.
