How do Pinoys show love? Survey reveals ‘Acts of Service' as top love language
This Valentine's Day, don't just wait for flowers and chocolates. Look out for the little things—like that cup of coffee someone made for you or your laundry suddenly folded. That's love, Pinoy style!
According to a national Social Weather Survey conducted from December 12-18, 2024, 'Acts of Service' has emerged as the most common love language among Filipinos, with 67% of adult Filipinos revealing this as their top love language.
The survey was conducted through face-to-face interviews with 2,160 adult Filipinos nationwide—1,080 from Balance Luzon (Luzon outside Metro Manila), and 360 each from Metro Manila, the Visayas, and Mindanao.
Coming in second place are 'words of affirmation' and 'quality time,' both tied at 51%. After all, what's more 'kilig' than hearing 'I'm proud of you' or spending meaningful, uninterrupted time with your special someone?
'Gift-giving' follows with 33%, while 'physical touch' rounds out the list at 29%.
But what is a love language?
It is how people give and receive love—it's the way they express care and affection to others. These are categorized into five unique styles: Acts of Service, Words of Affirmation, Quality Time, Gift-Giving, and Physical Touch.
For most Pinoys, love isn't just spoken—it's shown through thoughtful, everyday gestures like cooking a favorite meal, running errands, picking up parcels, or even carrying someone's heavy bags. These simple acts prove that love isn't always about grand romantic gestures—it's about effort and care in the little things.
So, remember: love doesn't always come wrapped in ribbons or spelled out in words. Sometimes, those small acts of care and kindness might just be someone's way of saying, 'I love you.'

Filipinos in UAE: Contract verification for OFWs to become more efficient from May 1
Filipino residents in Dubai and the northern emirates can now benefit from a more efficient contract verification process, as the Migrant Workers Office (MWO) is set to roll out a streamlined system starting May 1, 2025. Under Advisory No. 07, Series of 2025, the new guidelines reduce verification to two main methods and expand online services to better serve Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) in the mentioned areas. 1. Online submission OFWs may submit their documents online through the online submission system for contract verification. A new online submission form opens every Monday at 8am with 800 slots. The form closes once all slots are filled or on Wednesday at 11:59pm, whichever comes first. The new submission link is posted on our website and Facebook page at 8am every Monday. Process cycle time (PCT) for processing of documents: 11 working days. OFWs with an approved application will be given a date to collect and pay for their verified documents. Sample form schedule: Application date: May 5, 2025 Result of application: May 15, 2025 Releasing, Collection & Payment: May 19–21, 2025 PCT for collection: 15–20 minutes OFWs covered: OFWs with visa issued in Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Fujairah, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah or are working in any of these Emirates. 2. Walk-in OFWs may visit MWO-Dubai to have their documents verified one working day before their confirmed flight to the Philippines. OFWs with flight schedule falling on Saturday, Sunday, or Monday may visit MWO-Dubai on the Thursday or Friday nearest/prior to their flight. If the day before the flight was announced as a holiday/non-working day, then the worker may visit on the nearest working day before his/her flight. OFWs who are already in the Philippines but were unable to have their documents verified prior to their flight may authorize someone to submit their documents to MWO for verification. Authorized representatives will only be allowed entry in MWO-Dubai 1–3 days before the OFW's OEC appointment in the Philippines or 2–5 days before the worker's flight going back to the UAE. A Facebook post showing the life of an elderly couple captured through Google Maps images has gone viral, drawing widespread attention from Filipinos around the world. The post, first shared by Bulacan Trending Stories , featured a yearly series of satellite and street view photos showing the same couple outside a small house in Bulacan from 2015 to 2025. As of this writing, it has over 316,000 likes, 3,900 comments, and 124,000 shares. In the first image from 2015, the couple is seen seated beside their home, eating together from a single plate. In 2016, the same spot captured them again—this time on different chairs, still close to each other. But by 2017, only the grandmother appeared, quietly seated and staring ahead. In 2020, she was back in her usual spot but looked confused and tired, her hand supporting her chin, as if waiting for someone who would never return. The next year, 2022, the blue door of their home was tightly shut, and she was nowhere to be seen, gently suggesting that she might have followed her beloved.
