A Romantic drama with a star-studded cast
'My Story', directed by Roshni Dinaker and written by Shanker Ramakrishnan, is a romantic drama set across time and continents.
The film starred Prithviraj Sukumaran as Jay, a debutant actor, and Parvathy Thiruvothu in a dual role as Tara, the diva actress, and later as Hima, their daughter. Mukul Dev played the supporting role of Sunil, alongside other actors like Ganesh Venkatraman and Manoj K. Jayan.
Plot
The plot centers on the passionate but complicated relationship between Jay and Tara, who fall in love on a film set despite Tara's engagement to David, a wealthy producer. Years later, Jay—now a successful movie star—travels to Lisbon seeking closure and forgiveness from Tara. In a poignant twist, he discovers not only that she has been living a dual life but also that they have a daughter together.
A versatile talent remembered
Mukul Dev's role in 'My Story' added depth to the film's emotional fabric. Unfortunately, the Prithviraj Sukumaran starrer didn't get many good reviews from the audience and turned out to be a flop.

ZEE5 aims to slash operating losses by up to 60% in FY26

Mumbai: ZEE5, the streaming platform owned by Zee Entertainment, aims to reduce its operating losses by 50-60% in FY26, president of digital businesses and platforms Amit Goenka OTT industry has shifted its focus to achieving profitability after years of heavy investments in subscriber acquisition, which had taken a toll on their P& FY25, ZEE5 reduced its Ebitda loss to ₹548 crore from ₹1,105 crore in the previous year. The company has been aggressively cutting costs to achieve its goal of an 18-20% Ebitda margin in FY26."This year, we are striving to reduce our Ebitda losses by more than 50-60% compared to last year. ZEE5 is the only division in Zee Entertainment that is not yet profitable, and we are looking to make it Ebitda-positive," he said. According to Goenka, producing content at a competitive price has been Zee's strength, and the company wants to maintain the cost advantages it has built over the years. ZEE5's focus on investing more in the story than in the star cast has helped it reduce costs-unlike other major streamers who spend huge amounts of money on star-driven shows, he noted. "We will control our costs and at the same time deliver quality content to audiences," he said. ZEE5 is planning to launch 100 content titles in FY26, with a focus on language-based offerings in markets like Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi and Bengali. In FY25, the platform launched 60 pieces of content across movies and originals. Goenka also downplayed concerns that stringent cost controls would impact revenue growth, even as the platform competes with giants like Netflix, Prime Video and JioHotstar. ZEE5's revenue grew by 6% in FY25 to ₹976 crore. "Controlling costs can still help you grow users and offer a great content experience because how you tell the story is more important than the face behind it," he said. While ZEE5 has a hybrid subscription and ad-led model, Goenka sees a lot of potential in the subscription model and intends to partner with telcos, broadband players and other distribution platforms to reach new audiences in tier-2 and -3 cities. The platform also aims to double down on technology to improve user experience and experiment with emerging genres like short-form vertical video.

BBC releases documentary on Sidhu Moosewala on YouTube despite father seeking ban on screening

The BBC World Service on Wednesday released a documentary on the killing of slain Punjabi singer Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, popularly known as Sidhu Moosewala, on YouTube in two parts. The documentary was released at 5 am, even though Moosewala's father, Balkaur Singh Sidhu, petitioned a court in Punjab's Mansa to stop its release or screening. The Mansa court has listed Balkaur Singh's petition for a hearing Thursday. The BBC was scheduled to screen the documentary in a cinema hall in Mumbai Wednesday evening. However, after the controversy, the BBC released it on YouTube. Balkaur Singh also wrote a letter to Maharashtra's director general of police (DGP) to stop the screening. In the complaint filed with the Maharashtra DGP and Mumbai's Juhu Police Station, Balkaur Singh Sidhu said that BBC World Service was organising a programme on June 11 at 3 pm to screen the documentary in Juhu. He contended that the documentary was made without his permission, and also alleged it contained false content about his son's murder. In his complaint to the Maharashtra DGP, his father sought to ban the screening of BBC World Service's documentary on his son, alleging that it could be an attempt to tarnish his legacy. He raised concerns that the documentary might reveal previously unpublished facts. Balkaur Singh also said the documentary includes interviews with individuals named in the First Information Report (FIR) related to his son's murder, which he believes could affect the ongoing legal case. He requested that the screening of the documentary, scheduled for June 11, be stopped and has indicated that he might take legal action if his concerns are not addressed. The singer was shot dead on May 29, 2022, near Mansa.

Mom's passing is a void that nothing can ever fill: Niilam Paanchal

Niilam Paanchal with her mom Vasantiben Panchal Niilam Paanchal, who lost her mom Vasantiben Panchal in March, has resumed working. The actress, currently seen in the Hindi TV show Saru , shares, 'Her death is a void that nothing can fill. I miss mom every day.' 'I think I got my new show due to mom's blessings' Recalling the day when she got a call to audition for Saru, Niilam, who lives in Mumbai, shares, 'My mom was in hospital and I was with her 24*7. So, I was not keen to audition for the project, but my mother told me, 'You must do it, you will get this show.' I had to go for a mock shoot in Naigaon and when I returned, mom's condition had deteriorated. The day we lost her, I got a call confirming that I had been selected. I was not in a state to process that information. ' Niilam adds, 'I started shooting for the show barely a week after my mom's death, and it was a very difficult time for me. But my co-actors have been supportive and understanding. In a way, it is good that I started working because otherwise, I really don't know what I would have done. The show went on air on mom's birthday. I feel I got it due to her blessings.' 'I am keen to do more Gujarati films ' Before Saru, Niilam was seen in the TV show Dil Ko Tumse Pyaar Hua, which went off air in February. She shares, 'Be it Ishqbaaaz , Hamari Devrani , Lajwanti or other shows, I have always played negative roles on TV. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Thousands Are Saving Money Using This Wall Plug elecTrick - Save upto 80% on Power Bill Click Here Undo In Saru, I am playing a positive character on the small screen for the first time and it's a great feeling.' In D-Town, she was last seen in the film Nasoor (2024). In an earlier interview, the Hellaro, 21mu Tiffin and Vash actress had told us, 'I was being offered mother's roles but don't want to play moms to 40-year-olds on screen.' Asked about her plans of making a D-Town comeback, she says, 'I am very keen to do more Gujarati films. It's refreshing to see that age-appropriate roles are being written now for women in Gujarati films too. In my TV show contract, it is mentioned that I will take a break and shoot for Gujarati films if I get one. But surprisingly, while I used to be offered a lot of Gujarati films earlier, I have not been offered any in recent times. My husband (Mihir Rajda) is a terrific actor and I am glad he made a successful debut in Gujarati films with Mithada Maheman . I hope we get to see more of him in Gujarati films.' 'I start crying whenever I remember mom during little moments' Talking about her mom's contribution in her journey, Niilam says, 'I lost my dad when I was just four-and-a-half years old. We are four sisters and mom struggled a lot to bring us up so beautifully. Our financial condition wasn't great, and she had to sell her jewellery. Woh silaai ka bhi kaam karti thi. Back then, a lot of people would say that there was no need to send girls to college, but mom made sure that I completed my graduation. When I started getting acting offers and shifted to Mumbai in 2008, I told her that I wanted to pursue it and she supported me. I had promised her that I would make her proud and when I won the National Award for Hellaro, it was a huge win for both of us. I could fulfil my dreams only because of her.' She adds, 'During her last moments, mom told me, 'Mere jaane ke baad tum logon ka kya hoga? Mann laga ke kaam karna, aur tumhari beti ko khoob padhana.' I still start crying when I remember her during little moments, and there are times I can't sleep at night. However, the show must go on. I hope I continue to do good work so that up there, she can be proud of me.'
