'In an era of global economic instability, it delivers the long term certainty and direction British businesses need to invest, innovate and create good jobs that put more money in people's pockets as part of the plan for change. 'This is how we power Britain's future - by backing the sectors where we lead, removing the barriers that hold us back, and setting out a clear path to build a stronger economy that works for working people. Our message is clear - Britain is back and open for business.' Chancellor of the Exchequer Rachel Reeves said: 'The UK has some of the most innovative businesses in the world and our Plan for Change has provided them with the stability they need to grow and for more to be created. 'Today's Industrial Strategy builds on that progress with a ten-year plan to slash barriers to investment. It'll see billions of pounds for investment and cutting-edge tech, ease energy costs, and upskill the nation. It will ensure the industries that make Britain great can thrive. It will boost our economy and create jobs that put more money in people's pockets.' Business and Trade Secretary Jonathan Reynolds said: 'We've said from day one Britain is back in business under this government, and the £100 billion of investment we've secured in the past year shows our Plan for Change is already delivering for working people. 'Our Modern Industrial Strategy will ensure the UK is the best country to invest and do business, delivering economic growth. 'Not only does this Strategy prioritise investment to attract billions for new business sites, cutting-edge research, and better transport links, it will also make our industrial electricity prices more competitive. 'Tackling energy costs and fixing skills has been the single biggest ask of us from businesses and the greatest challenge they've faced – this government has listened, and now we're taking the bold action needed.' His Majesty's Trade Commissioner for the Middle East and Pakistan, Sarah Mooney said: 'The UK is the most open, stable and connected economy in the world, and our modern Industrial Strategy will make it quicker, easier and more profitable for businesses in the GCC and wider Middle East and Pakistan region to do business with the UK. This 10 year roadmap will back Britain's strongest industries and deepen economic and industrial cooperation with our international partners. I look forward to working collaboratively with governments and businesses across the region on our shared strategic priorities.' -Ends- Notes The Industrial Strategy is here: The Defence, Financial Services and Life Sciences sector plans will be published shortly. The Supercharger and British Industrial Competitiveness Scheme will be funded through reforms to the energy system. The government is reducing costs within the system to free up funding without raising household bills or taxes and intends to also use additional funds from the strengthening of UK carbon pricing, including as a result of linking with the EU carbon market. The 7000 businesses are an indicative estimate of how many businesses could be in scope of the scheme. The full scope and eligibility of the scheme will be determined following consultation. The Global Talent Fund will be allocated over the coming weeks, via UKRI, to leading universities and other research organisations. These organisations will use their expertise to select and target the researchers, aligned to the overarching objectives of the scheme and in support of industrial strategy priorities.

Chainlink, Mastercard partner to allow 3 billion cardholders to buy crypto
Chainlink, a company that provides a decentralized oracle network, has partnered with payments provider Mastercard to allow the credit card company's three billion cardholders to buy crypto onchain. The integration could spur crypto adoption by providing a new avenue for people without Web3 exposure to gain experience with digital assets. The integration is made possible through a series of partnerships with Web3 entities, including Shift4 Payments, Swapper Finance, XSwap and ZeroHash, a crypto and stablecoins infrastructure company that will provide the onchain service and liquidity enabling customers to convert fiat currency to crypto. 'The current version of the application available at Swapper Finance is non-custodial and leverages account abstraction to provide users with simplicity and control,' a Chainlink Labs spokesperson told Cointelegraph. 'It was important that this solution was built for everyone, not just for crypto-natives or enthusiasts.' Mastercard has embraced crypto in 2024 and 2025, mostly through the issuance of cards that allow users to spend cryptocurrency at merchants in different countries. In April, it announced a partnership with Kraken to launch crypto debit cards across the UK and Europe, and it joined MetaMask to debut a self-custody crypto card. In February, the company said it had tokenized 30% of its 2024 transactions. Mastercard competitor also in crypto fray Mastercard's main competitor, Visa, has also been active on the crypto front. In October 2024, it partnered with Coinbase to allow some of the exchange's users to instantly withdraw and deposit crypto. In addition, it has debuted a Web3 digital asset platform and invested in stablecoin payment platform BVNK. Buying crypto with fiat currency can be fraught with difficulties, especially for people unfamiliar with the technology. This friction can hinder the adoption of cryptocurrency and the progress of the industry. However, people want to connect with digital asset systems, according to Raj Dhamodharan, Mastercard's executive vice president for blockchain and digital assets projects and partnerships. 'There's no doubt about it — people want to be able to easily connect to the digital assets ecosystem, and vice versa,' Dhamodharan said. Source:

Raspberry extract and sesame oil: What makes silk-inspired lipstick from Hermes special?
In the rarefied world of Hermes, beauty is an extension of the artisanship the French maison is renowned for, and the sixteenth metier (craft) for a brand that has been devoted to perfection since it was founded in 1837. The house, which is known for its leather goods, silk scarves, jewellery, watches, home decor, equestrian products and men's and womenswear, launched Hermes Beauty in 2020. A natural extension to its existing line, the brand's chief executive, Axel Dumas, described it as 'part of who we are – a house where everything comes from creation, driven by artisans who seek to accompany the men and women of today with elegance, and with the integrity and authenticity that we represent'. Five years after that first foray, Hermes Beauty unveiled its latest offering, Rouge Brillant Silky, a glossy lip colour inspired by the sensuality of silk. It was created by Hermes Beauty creative director Gregoris Pyrpylis as a gossamer veil of colour – translucent and comfortable. Designed not to mask the lips with saturated pigment, this featherlight wash is designed to enhance natural lip colour. Applied in a single stroke, it lends a mirror-like sheen and a barely-there tint that can be layered to create something more personal. Pierre Hardy, the creative director of Hermes shoes and jewellery, and designer of the 2020 lipstick cases, has once again returned to design the packaging, staying with the bold, colour-blocked stripes that quickly made the launch products collectible objets d'art. As with everything in the Hermes universe, design is inseparable from the product. The Brillant line comes housed in a brushed gold and black metal tube, and topped with a white cap embossed with the signature horse-drawn landau carriage. The Brillant palette offers 14 permanent shades, as a reworking of famous Hermes colours in the new, sheer formula. Rouge Casaque, the house's quintessential red, is now airy and luminous, while Rouge H, the famous 1925 burgundy, is moody and transparent. Elsewhere, there is the warm woodiness of Rose Boise, the spiced vitality of Rose Epice, the golden gleam of Brun d'Ambre, as well as the sun-baked elegance of Rouge Brique. There are also three limited-edition colours – Rose Gelatine, Orange Flash and Beige Halo – all encased in distinctive, mirror-polished metals, as gleaming duos of lavender with orange, lime green with sky blue and brick with celadon. The bullet itself is slanted for easy, intuitive application, barely requiring a mirror. This is not about the perfection of a saturated lip, but the effortless swipe of a lightly pigmented gloss. The formula is enriched with hydrating raspberry leaf extract, Abyssinian and sesame oils for supple softness, and Morus alba (white mulberry), a house favourite, prized for its antioxidant prowess.
