Stephen Colbert Reveals 'Appalling' Habit Even Trump's Own Aides Are Struggling With

Yahoo2 days ago

'Late Show' host Stephen Colbert said President Donald Trump's aides are struggling to keep him informed of world events for one very Trump-like reason.
'According to intelligence experts who have tried to brief him, the problem with Trump is that he doesn't read,' Colbert said, citing a Rolling Stone report. 'Which is appalling.'
Colbert said one CIA analyst reportedly said that while Trump didn't read his daily intelligence briefing, he 'touched' it.
'Touching it doesn't count, I don't think,' Colbert said.
A retired intelligence officer told Rolling Stone that the briefings were the 'most difficult challenges' the intelligence community faced.
Colbert was left in disbelief.
'Yes, the most difficult challenges that the entire intelligence community of the United States has ever faced,' he repeated. 'Getting Trump to learn, I believe, is the plot of the next 'Mission: Impossible.''
There is now talk of giving Trump intelligence briefings via Fox News-style reports since he likes to watch the right-wing network.
'I think it actually makes sense because he is always like looking at Fox News and the best way to get information into his brain is just to put the information someplace he's already looking all the time,' Colbert said. 'So either they have to put the top secret information on Fox News, or at the bottom of a chicken bucket.'

Trump Family Hits Magic Eden With Cease-and-Desist Over Crypto Wallet Plans: Bloomberg

The family of U.S. President Donald Trump has allegedly sent a cease-and-desist letter to two entities behind a forthcoming — and already heavily disputed — Trump-branded crypto wallet, according to a Thursday report from Bloomberg. Since the announcement of the so-called $TRUMP Wallet (named for the President's eponymous memecoin) earlier this week, Trump's three sons — Don Jr., Eric, and Barron — have all publicly repudiated the project, saying that neither the Trump family nor its firm, the Trump Organization, is connected to or otherwise authorized the $TRUMP Wallet. 'This project is not authorized by @Trump,' Eric Trump wrote in an X post. 'I would be extremely careful using our name in a project that has not been approved and is unknown to anyone in our organization.' While Trump's sons were distancing themselves from the allegedly unauthorized crypto wallet on social media, lawyers for World Liberty Financial — one of the Trump family-linked crypto ventures, which is currently at work on its own crypto wallet — were, according to Bloomberg, drafting cease-and-desist letters to the two firms responsible for the project: non-fungible token (NFT) marketplace Magic Eden and the website behind the $TRUMP memecoin. Bill Zanker, a long-time Trump associate, owns through his Florida-based LLC, Fight Fight Fight. According to data from blockchain analytics firm Chainalysis, the creators of the $TRUMP memecoin netted $320 million in fees, while the majority of retail traders lost money. Though the Trump family has worked with Zanker and his companies on crypto ventures before — including four of Trump's NFT launches before his re-election and the recent, controversial dinner for top holders of the $TRUMP memecoin — the decades-old relationship appears to have soured. CoinDesk reached out to Magic Eden, the Trump Organization, and World Liberty Financial for comment. Mark Cuban backs Elon Musk's idea of launching a new political party

Mark Cuban backs Elon Musk's idea of launching a new political party originally appeared on TheStreet. Mark Cuban is best known in crypto circles as a vocal supporter of non-fungible tokens (NFTs). Now, he's also thrown a subtle tick-mark of approval behind Elon Musk's latest political push. Musk, along with President Donald Trump, is one of the most prominent figures from the political-corporate circles who has impacted the global crypto market big time. Now, the two are having a public feud over a domestic bill, and the crypto community has also jumped in. During the 2024 presidential election, Musk backed Trump and poured as much as $288 million into his campaign — making him the largest donor. When Trump won the election and assumed the office of the White House, he, in turn, appointed Musk as his principal advisor and the de facto head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). DOGE is the agency tasked with slashing government spending, the acronym of which is the same as the ticker symbol of Musk's onetime favorite meme coin, Dogecoin. Musk quit the DOGE at the end of May, and the billionaire tycoon since then has been attacking the president's flagship "big, beautiful bill" that deals with taxation and public expenditure. The Tesla (Nasdaq: TSLA) boss has dubbed the bill the "big, ugly spending bill" and the "Debt Slavery Bill." He also referred to it as "a massive, outrageous, pork-filled Congressional spending bill." Trump soon hit back at Musk, saying the latter knew "the inner workings of the bill better than anybody" and had no problem. The president claimed Musk began to find problems with the bill when he found out that "I took away his EV Mandate that forced everyone to buy Electric Cars that nobody else wanted." Trump continued: I'm very disappointed with Elon... I've helped him a lot. Musk denied the president's claim, saying that the bill wasn't shown to me even once. Things went further downhill between the two as Trump said he would have won Pennsylvania regardless of Musk. "Without me, Trump would have lost the election," Musk said and sighed: Such ingratitude Musk next posted a poll on X about the potential need for a new political party in the U.S. The graphic designer at the Dogecoin meme coin team, known as DogeDesigner on X, came out publicly in support of Musk during the controversy. Things escalated quickly as Musk accused Trump of being named in the notorious Jeffrey Epstein files. DogeDesigner wondered why the government has not yet released the files: What's taking so long? DogeDesigner is a popular figure in the Crypto Twitter community who works for the meme coin project, Dogecoin. A meme coin is a parody of mainstream cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin. The first meme coin, Dogecoin, began to be taken rather seriously when Musk showed his enthusiasm for it a few years ago. The nomenclature of the department Musk had recently been heading led many to speculate that the Trump administration could integrate the Dogecoin into its payments system, but it turned out to be merely a speculation. The latest public controversy revolving around Musk had Dogecoin quickly tumbling from $0.1923 to $0.1728. Tucker Carlson Is Begging Trump to Ignore His Old Fox News Ally

Tucker Carlson has warned President Donald Trump not to heed his former Fox News colleague Mark Levin's advice, which he claims will 'end his presidency.' Levin, a member of the Homeland Security Advisory Council, was reportedly at the White House this week to lobby for war with Iran, claiming the Islamic Republic is 'weeks away' from developing a nuclear weapon—a claim Carlson dismissed as 'a lie.' 'There is zero credible intelligence that suggests Iran is anywhere near building a bomb, or has plans to. None,' Carlson stated in a fiery post on X. 'Anyone who claims otherwise is ignorant or dishonest.' The former Fox News host argued that the same warnings made by Levin about Iran's nuclear capabilities have been recycled for decades without evidence, and suggested that he and other interventionists are more concerned with regime change than nuclear proliferation. 'If the U.S. government knew Iran was weeks from possessing a nuclear weapon, we'd be at war already,' Carlson said. 'Iran knows this, which is why they aren't building one. Iran also knows it's unwise to give up its weapons program entirely. Muammar Gaddafi tried that and wound up sodomized with a bayonet. As soon as Gaddafi disarmed, NATO killed him. Iran's leaders saw that happen. They learned the obvious lesson.' He added: 'So why is Mark Levin once again hyperventilating about weapons of mass destruction? To distract you from the real goal, which is regime change—young Americans heading back to the Middle East to topple yet another government. 'Virtually no one will say this out loud. America's record of overthrowing foreign leaders is so embarrassingly counterproductive that regime change has become a synonym for disaster. Officially, no one supports it. So instead of telling the truth about their motives, they manufacture hysteria: 'A country like Iran can never have the bomb! They'll nuke Los Angeles! We have to act now!' Carlson pointed out that two of Iran's neighbors—Pakistan and Israel—already possess nuclear weapons, yet Levin never mentions them. 'It's not the weapons he hates. It's the ideology of the Iranian government.' Furthermore, an attack on Iran would result in the deaths of 'thousands of Americans' and plunge the U.S. into a third world war, he added, due to the Islamic Republic's extensive ties to Russia and China. 'An attack on Iran could very easily become a world war. We'd lose,' he wrote. 'Many Americans would die during a war with Iran. People like Mark Levin don't seem to care about this. It's not relevant to them. Instead they insist that Iran give up all uranium enrichment, regardless of its purpose. They know perfectly well that Iran will never accept that demand.' Carlson concluded: 'The one thing that people like Mark Levin don't want is a peaceful solution to the problem of Iran, despite the obvious benefits to the United States. They denounce anyone who advocates for a deal as a traitor and a bigot. They tell us with a straight face that Long Island native Steve Witkoff is a secret tool of Islamic monarchies. They'll say or do whatever it takes. They have no limits. These are scary people. Pray that Donald Trump ignores them.' The two Fox alumni have previously clashed on a number of occasions, most recently during a spat last month in which Levin called Carlson 'a little b-----d' after he criticized him for claiming the term 'neocon' was a euphemism for 'Jew.'
