Eid-ul-Azha: CM directs admin to improve arrangements
LAHORE: "I will personally monitor cleanliness situation on Eid, negligence will not be tolerated at all," said Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif while directing the district administration to improve arrangements on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha.
She also directed them to spray phenyl and rose water after cleaning like the last year, besides ensuring cleanliness in cattle markets too. She added, "Complaints about cleanliness should be immediately redressed everywhere including cities and villages. Special arrangements should be made to keep traffic flowing around cattle markets."
The Chief Minister said, "A ban should also be ensured on throwing animal waste into canals and drains etc." She directed them to further activate provincial, divisional, district and tehsil level control rooms.

Addressing the broader regional context, Field Marshal Munir reaffirmed Pakistan's principled stance on Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), vowing continued support for the Kashmiri people's 'just and valiant' struggle. He stressed the need for resolving the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the aspirations of the Kashmiri people and UN Security Council resolutions. The COAS was received at the LoC by the Commander of Rawalpindi Corps upon arrival.

In Islamabad, worshippers offered Eid prayers at the Shah Faisal Mosque and other major sites, where special prayers were also made for the armed forces, national unity, and the country's progress and prosperity. In Lahore, Eid prayers were led by Council of Islamic Ideology Chairperson Raghib Naeemi at Darul Uloom Jamia Naeemi. A large-scale collective sacrifice has been arranged at the seminary, where 180 animals were sacrificed on the first day. A total of 300 sacrifices are planned over three days. Similar arrangements were made in other parts of the city. In Karachi, Eid prayers were offered at different mosques in the city. Clerics across the country delivered sermons on the spiritual and philosophical significance of Prophet Ibrahim's (AS) sacrifice. Special prayers were also offered for the unity of the Muslim Ummah, national development, and the well-being of Palestinians and Kashmiris. In Hyderabad and surrounding areas, more than 1,000 small and large prayer gatherings were organised. Many residents visited graveyards after Eid prayers to offer fateha for deceased loved ones, before commencing animal sacrifices. In Peshawar, major congregations took place at the central Eidgah and various neighbourhoods, reflecting the same spirit of solemnity and unity. President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended on Saturday heartfelt congratulations to the entire nation and the Muslim Ummah around the world on the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha. The day dawned with special prayers in mosques for well-being of the Muslim Ummah and peace, progress and prosperity of the country. Eid prayers' congregations were held at mosques, Eidgahs and open places in all cities, towns and villages across the country. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz said the message of Eid-ul-Adha is not limited to the sacrifice of animals alone, but teaches us to sacrifice our ego, desires, and personal interests for higher purposes. Eid teaches us not only the importance of sacrificing life and wealth but also that nations achieve greatness when they work for collective welfare and selflessness alongside individual development, the PM said. 'Today, we must especially remember our Palestinian brothers and sisters who are enduring ruthless and inhumane oppression and hunger.'
