Art project celebrating Cornish landscape unveiled on Bodmin Moor
A Cornish labyrinth permanent public art project has been unveiled to coincide with the Spring equinox.The creation is made from traditional Cornish hedging built using 140,000 granite stones, and has been unveiled at Colliford Lake on Bodmin Moor. The work called Kerdroya took five years to complete and was laid by hand across 445 metres (1460ft).Creator Will Coleman said it was not just a place to visit but a place "to reflect, to reconnect, and to celebrate Cornwall's landscape and spirit."
He said the project which was built using traditional Cornish stone hedging techniques, was a tribute to the craft and celebrates Cornwall's wild landscape. Mr Coleman, who previously created a giant mechanical puppet of a Cornish miner called the Man Engine, said the work was "communal, spiritual and educational" and "every stone laid carried a story.""It's our landscape and our heritage, woven together, for the next 4000 years."He said the name Kerdroya was taken from historical turf mazes and that its important to distinguish the difference between a maze and a labyrinth. "In a maze you get lost, but in a labyrinth you find yourself."
Visitors can walk along the 750m (2461ft) path and read messages from hedge pledgers, individuals, and organisations who have supported the campaign.The centrepiece of the exhibit was created by Thomas and Gary Thrussell. Thomas described it as the "beating heart and focal point" of Kerdroya. He said it offers a "point to ponder and think about the journey you have been on." The project opens to the public on 21 March.

The pair won, after competing against five other pairs to race across a total distance of around 8,700 miles (14,000km) between the Great Wall of China, north of Bejing, and Kanniyakumari, the southernmost tip of India. Not only did they win the cash prize of £20,000 after a total of 51 days travelling, the pair also learnt a lot about themselves. During the series Caroline had opened up about how she felt she had lost her identity outside of being a mother and a wife. Thomas however, discussed his struggle with cerebral palsy. Thomas, 21, told the BBC : " 51 days racing through countries that I never thought I'd go to, and never thought we'd come this far, and never thought we'd achieve so much. And I've never been prouder of my mum." However, following the series finale fans of the show took to social media to share their disappointment over the winning pair. Since filming the series the pair from Hargrave near Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk, Thomas and his 60-year-old mother Caroline have been spending more time together following their challenging stint on the show. Caroline shared: "We now try and have a bit more time for each other. We actually make time to stop and enjoy the simple things together and we are hoping to go travelling again." Fans of the show took to social media to share, who they would have preferred to win the competition. Ultimately, the couple finished in third place - just 45 minutes behind the winners. However it seemed like the fan favourites were brothers Brian and Melvyn, who went from first place in parts of the competition to finishing in fourth place in the final. The pair opened up about their childhood trauma and grew closer as siblings throughout the competition, moving weekly audiences in the process. One person shared on X: "I've never wanted a pair to win #RaceAcrossTheWorld more than Brian and Melvyn, honestly. They rekindled relationship is so lovely and a win would just be perfect." Fern Britton claims ex Phil Vickery 'stopped talking to her' after huge loss
Fern Britton has claimed her ex-husband, TV chef Phil Vickery, 'stopped talking' to her following the loss of her mum. The TV presenter, 67, and Phil, 64, were married for two decades before their 2020 divorce, which came as Fern's parents died. In a new interview, Fern has claimed Phil stopped talking to her after the death of her mother in 2018, and she's had no contact since. 'He hasn't spoken to me for six years now. As soon as my mum died, he stopped talking to me,' she said told Yours Magazine. Fern shares daughter Winnie Vickery, 23, with Phil, so says she will try to never bad-mouth him. The former This Morning presenter explained: 'Winnie adores him. I'm not going to bad-mouth him in front of her; at least, I try very hard not to. I was the child of divorced parents and my mum never bad-mouthed my father.' When announcing their separation in 2020, Fern's statement read: 'After more than 20 happy years together, Phil and I have decided to go our separate ways. 'We will always share a great friendship and our lovely children.' She later said that she and Phil 'fell apart' following the death of her parents. Fern's mother, Ruth Britton, died in January 2018. Her father, actor Tony Britton, died shortly after. Fern and Phil's divorce came after her 2016 hysterectomy and a near-fatal sepsis diagnosis. 'Then my mum died in 2018 and my dad died in 2019, and then my marriage [to chef Vickery] died,' she said in a recent interview with The Telegraph, 'Next, I discovered that my phone had been hacked for 15 years. And last year a man who was stalking me for several years went to court and was given a restraining order. 'For a while, I was wondering what else could possibly happen. But lots of women endure difficult stuff and we just live with it and keep going.' Phil was Fern's second husband, as she was married to Clive Jones for two years before divorcing in 2000. She added that divorce was 'not a breeze', adding: 'No matter how you hope it's going to be easy and pain-free, inevitably it isn't. It's difficult and brings up a lot of unpleasant characteristics in everybody.' Fern previously opened up about her mental and physical health struggles following the divorce and her parents' deaths, saying she 'fell into this era of indolence' where she 'just started lying in bed later and later and later'. 'What was the purpose of getting up and getting dressed or getting showered or cleaning my teeth because I will soon be back in bed. 'Why don't I start smoking? Yes. Drinking.
