YTL Corp 3Q net profit falls 15.5% on weaker power division, boosted by cement segment

YTL Corp Bhd reported a 15.5% decline in net profit to RM419.38 million for the third quarter ended March 31, 2025 (3Q25), primarily due to weaker results from its utilities segment via YTL Power International.
YTL Power's net profit dropped 30% to RM489.41 million, impacted by lower power prices and a stronger ringgit.
However, this was partly offset by a strong performance from its cement segment, Malayan Cement, which saw an 80.6% profit surge to RM182.84 million, driven by operational efficiencies and acquisition gains.
Revenue for the quarter edged up 1.5% to RM7.32 billion.
For the first nine months of FY2025, net profit fell 17.1% to RM1.33 billion while revenue rose 4% to RM23.15 billion.
The group expects stable performance from its cement and utilities segments moving forward. –TMR

YTL Power's AI compute could lift FY26 earnings by 4pct

KUALA LUMPUR: YTL Power International Bhd's artificial intelligence (AI) compute initiative is on track for a launch in the third quarter of 2025 (3Q25). Maybank Investment Bank Bhd (Maybank IB) expects this to drive a potential net profit increase of around four per cent in financial year 2026 (FY26) and six per cent in FY27. The firm continues to view YTL Power's risk-reward profile positively, especially given its undemanding valuations. This optimism is supported by the anticipated confirmation of Wessex's medium-term recovery as well as encouraging progress in its data centre and AI compute business. Maybank IB maintained a 'Buy' rating on YTL Power with an unchanged target price of RM4.20. Based on news reports, it said the group's AI compute business is on track to go live in 3Q25. "While substantially more capital expenditure intensive on a per megawatt (MW) basis, the gestation period is likely minimal, unlike data centre colocation, because graphic processing units, which are the biggest cost item, are typically only procured after securing off-takers. "Thus, upon commissioning, AI compute is likely to be immediately earnings accretive to YTL Power, in our view," it added. Assuming a 20MW deployment as planned, Maybank IB said YTL Power could incur about RM2.1 billion in capital expenditure, which could, in turn, generate around RM130 million in profit after tax annually. It said a 3Q25 launch for the initial 20MW would allow AI compute to contribute at least three quarters to YTL Power's FY26, potentially lifting its net profit forecasts by about four per cent and six per cent for FY26 and FY27, respectively.

HEIDELBERG, GERMANY – Newsaktuell – 5 June 2025 - Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (HEIDELBERG) is starting financial year 2025/26 on a strong note. This also resulted in a corresponding big increase in the order backlog as at March 31, 2025 – from € 652 million on the same reference date the previous year to € 722 million. The Packaging Solutions and Print Solutions segments benefited from the product innovations presented at drupa. Their incoming orders for financial year 2024/25 both increased – by around 7 percent to € 1,272 million for the Packaging Solutions segment and by about 6 percent to € 1,155 million for the Print Solutions segment."Thanks to the improving order situation and the positive momentum from the China Print trade show, we are expecting a better start to the new financial year than we had the previous year," said Dr. David Schmedding, Chief Technology & Sales Officer at HEIDELBERG. "Our new portfolio of very large format presses for packaging reaffirms our approach of gradually further expanding our portfolio in growth segments. By also incorporating automation, robotics, and software, we now offer customers integrated end-to-end solutions for the entire production process. Our aim as a system provider is to tap into the sizable potential in the growing packaging segment. All in all, we are therefore embarking on the new financial year full of confidence," he view of macroeconomic developments, taking into account the various opportunities and risks, and assuming the global economy does not see weaker growth than predicted by the relevant institutions, the company is expecting sales of around € 2,350 million in financial year 2025/26 (2024/25: € 2,280 million). The EBITDA margin adjusted for special items is predicted to rise to as much as 8 percent (previous year: 7.1 percent). The changed segment structure at HEIDELBERG from April 1, 2025 means the company will, in the future, report figures for the Print & Packaging Equipment, Digital Solutions & Lifecycle, and HEIDELBERG Technology segments.
