Police break up stunt drivers blocking busy DeKalb County intersection
DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. - DeKalb County police were caught on camera breaking up a stunt driving scene overnight.
A FOX 5 Atlanta producer was one of the drivers who was stuck at the intersection of Briarcliff and Lavista Road after the group took over the intersection late Sunday night.
What we know
Video taken by Good Day producer Michael Addison showed the drivers scrambling to leave after DeKalb County police responded to the scene.
In the video, you can see tire marks on the street in front of the Tesla dealership and nearby shopping center.
At least two dozen cars were at the intersection when police arrived to get things moving again.
FOX 5 received a call from a viewer saying that they had been stuck at another location in DeKalb County, but police have not confirmed the details.
What we don't know
Authorities have not shared any information about this or any other street racing events that may have happened overnight.
If you have any information that could help with the investigation, contact the DeKalb County Police Department.
Dig deeper
This is the second time since December that this has happened at the same intersection.
Back then, another Good Day producer was stuck in the area by a group of drivers doing doughnuts until the police arrived.
Last year, Georgia passed a new law that would create harsher penalties for street racing and potential criminal charges for those participating in or organizing illegal events.
The new law now says if you are "knowingly present and actively facilitating" a street racing event you can face misdemeanor charges and a minimum fine of $250.
The law also added a new restriction to applying for a Class D license if you've been convicted of "reckless stunt driving."

Tesla EV registrations in the US fall 16% in April
Tesla (TSLA) electric vehicle registrations in the United States fell by 16% in April, acording to the latest data out from S&P Global Mobility. Yahoo Finance senior autos reporter Pras Subramanian dives into the report and weighs in on CEO Elon Musk's criticisms of President Trump's "big, beautiful" tax and spending bill and the delay of Tesla's robotaxi launch in Austin, Texas. To watch more expert insights and analysis on the latest market action, check out more Market Domination Overtime here. Tesla US registrations sliding 16% in April. That's according to data from S&P Global mobility. Joining us now from the Nasdaq Yahoo! Finance senior autos reporter Pras Subramanian. So Pras, um, what is what is this data telling us about sort of, I guess things that Tesla don't seem to be getting much better. Yeah, it's the first indication now we're seeing now US data, right? So registration data from S&P Global mobility showed that 16% drop in April year over year. Uh, this is happening while other competitors like Chevy and BMW see sales gains. So with regards to Tesla, uh, every model except the Model 3 saw sales drop in the US in April. And this is sort of coming on the backdrop of what we saw in Europe, right? We saw a lot of bad data there for sales data in Europe, mostly recently for for April and May there. So we're seeing an echo here in the US, but I want to quickly touch on the fact that, you know, we mentioned Chevy at number two, the very popular Equinox and Blazer EV doing well. BMW also there having some good models. They're seeing some sales gains. And then and Tesla overnight last night, maybe looking to address that the top in the market, updated the Model S and Model X vehicles there. So new updates there potentially to stem the losses and on the top end, but but nonetheless is still a pattern that we're seeing that has been recurring throughout the Western world and also now in the US now with April data. And Pros of course, if people investors in Tesla have been watching other things, namely, what seems to be sort of, you know, warming, if not warming relations, at least not further cooling relations between the president and Elon Musk, and also they're looking ahead to the robo taxi launch, which has been pushed back, yes to June 22nd. So we'll see if it if it gets pushed back more, but there does seem to be some optimism building around some of this stuff. Yeah, you saw Musk backtrack a little bit on those comments he made last week about the the the big beautiful bill talking about how it didn't really cut a lot of the spending, but mostly with the subtext of him being upset about potential loss to EV tax credit. That being said, the robo taxi launch are testing in Austin is happening. Uh we've seen some cars going back and forth to chase vehicles, but the actual official start Musk says won't happen till the 22nd. That was a push back from the 12th that was previously reported. And Musk also said the 22nd date could be pushed back just just because of of safety and precaution looking to be sort of cover all their bases with such a big high profile test happening in that city. But you know, we talked about this before, this is a big news for Tesla, big move. They need to do that to unlock the value, but you know, Waymo's been operating in Austin and also other cities for for some time now. So they have a lot of catching up to do when it comes to that robo taxi business. Yes. We'll see how it plays out. Pras, thank you. Tesla stock's up 75% in a year! Time to buy?
There is rarely a shortage of news – or opinions – when it comes to electric vehicle maker Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA). But while there has been a fair bit of doom and gloom around lately when it comes to the firm, Tesla stock is now 75% higher than it was a year ago. The long-term performance has been even more impressive. Every pound put into Tesla stock five years ago is now worth over a fiver (ignoring exchange rate movements during that period). So, could this be one to tuck away in my portfolio today and hope for more money-spinning magic in future? At the right price, my answer would be an unambiguous yes. Vehicles are a huge business and likely to stay that way. Over time, I expect electric cars and trucks to form a growing part of that market. Tesla is well-positioned here: it has a vertically integrated manufacturing model already operating at scale, a strong brand, proprietary technology, and large base of existing customers. However, this market is different to how it was a few years ago. Tesla has lost its pre-eminence, as Chinese rivals including BYD expand at pace both in their home market and overseas. Tesla's first-quarter sales were sharply lower than last year. That could reflect some production lines being out of action for part of the period as well as adverse publicity related to Tesla's chief executive's political involvement. But a key factor behind the fall – and one I see as a long-term risk – is a more competitive marketplace. That risks eating into profit margins across the industry. I also see opportunities for Tesla beyond making and selling cars. One is its planned launch of self-driving taxi fleets. Another is the robotics business. On top of that, it already has a sizeable power storage business that is growing very fast. Given the rise in its stock price over the past year, Tesla is currently sitting on a nice round market capitalization of $1trn. That is a lot of money. Never mind whether the stock can move higher in future, is it even worth its current price? I do not think so. The Tesla stock price-to-earnings ratio now sits at a dizzying 176. Ford, by contrast, is on 8 and General Motors on 7. Tesla's valuation seems to build in huge expectations for future performance. But as I discussed above, recent signs about the company's business performance have been alarming, not encouraging. While power storage is doing well, the core car business has been in reverse. Meanwhile, its competitive environment is becoming more challenging by the month and I do not see that changing. To me, the current Tesla stock price looks unjustifiably high. So, I shall not be investing. The post Tesla stock's up 75% in a year! Time to buy? appeared first on The Motley Fool UK.
