Complaint against SIDDA to governor
A formal complaint was submitted to Karnataka Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot on Saturday against chief minister Siddaramaiah over alleged negligence leading to the June 4 stampede near the Chinnaswamy stadium that claimed 11 lives, even as the Opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) intensified its attack on the Congress leadership in the state. In his complaint to the governor, Girish Kumar, a resident of Kottigepalya in Bengaluru, alleged that the chief minister had personally invited the public to participate in the celebrations of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru's (RCB) IPL victory without ensuring adequate safety arrangements. The complaint also questioned the state government's decision to host a grand reception for a private cricket franchise like RCB, claiming that IPL is a commercial venture driven by profit motives rather than national pride. 'Players are bought by franchises and play for money, not for the country or the state,' the letter alleged, pointing out that such celebrations were not extended to national heroes such as soldiers or Olympic athletes. The complainant also criticised deputy chief minister DK Shivakumar for receiving the RCB team at the airport, calling it excessive and unwarranted. He alleged that the government failed in its duty to protect citizens and demanded that those responsible for the mismanagement be held accountable. The letter urged the Governor to take the issue seriously and initiate necessary action against those responsible for the fatal lapse in public safety. A victims family alleged that no government official visited them since three days. 'My son was mad about cricket and worshipped Virat Kohli like a god. From the age of five till seventeen, all he ever spoke about was Virat'' Mariyamma , mother of Shiva Linga (17) who died in stampede told reporters. He wanted to be like him. But all he got from Virat was death,' said the mother . Shivalingas parents originally from Yadagiri district and came to city a decade back and working as labourers in cement brick manufacturing unit in Sonnuru. 'We are a very poor family, just like many others from this region. We had moved to Bengaluru and were doing labourers work to survive. It has been three days since my son died, but not a single official has visited our home. We have received no help from the government either,' she added. The stampede on June 4 evening occurred in front of the Chinnaswamy stadium in Bengaluru, where a large number of people thronged to participate in the RCB team's maiden IPL victory celebrations. At least 11 people died and 56 were injured in the incident. Chief minister Siddaramaiah on Saturday increased the compensation amount announced for the kin of the deceased in the stadium stampede from ₹10 to ₹25 lakh per family, the government said in a statement. A political slugfest over the incident continued, with senior BJP leader and Union minister of state Shobha Karandlaje alleging that CM Siddaramiah and his deputy Shivakumar have 'blood on their hands', holding them directly responsible for the stampede and demanded their resignation. Rajat Patidar broke captain's tradition for Virat Kohli, unnoticed act from IPL 2025 Final now wins hearts
The Royal Challengers Bengaluru, led by Rajat Patidar, broke their trophy drought as the franchise won their maiden Indian Premier League (IPL) title earlier this week after defeating Punjab Kings by six runs in the summit clash at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Days have passed since the final, but several unseen videos from the victory celebrations continue to make their way on social media. A fresh video has made its way online, showing Rajat Patidar breaking the captain's tradition for Virat Kohli and letting the RCB talisman sign the camera. Over the last few years, it has become a tradition for the IPL-winning captain to sign the camera after the victory in the final. However, Rajat Patidar refrained from doing the act as he wanted Virat Kohli to take centre stage and do the same. An unseen video from the IPL win celebrations in Ahmedabad shows Patidar going up to Kohli and urging him to come forward and sign the camera. Kohli looked hesitant at first. However, upon insistence, the 36-year-old went up to the camera to give his signature, much to the elation of the entire RCB contingent. For the uninitiated, Rajat Patidar is just the fourth IPL captain after Shane Warne, Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya to win the tournament in his debut season as the skipper. Virat Kohli was the standout performer for RCB in the IPL 2025 season, scoring 657 runs in 15 innings at an average of 54.75 and a strike rate of 144.71. He also smashed eight half-centuries and all of these knocks came in a winning cause. Kohli, who waited 18 years to win the IPL, was visibly left in tears after the win against Punjab Kings in the summit clash. All of his RCB teammates ran up to him following the last ball, which was bowled by Josh Hazlewood. It has been 18 long years. I have given this team my youth, my prime and my experience, and I have tried to win this every season that I have come. I have given everything I have and to finally have this moment come, it is an unbelievable feeling.' 'I never thought this day would come. I was overcome with emotions as soon as the last ball was bowled and this means so much to me, as I said I have given each and every ounce of energy to this team and to finally win an IPL is an amazing feeling,' he added. However, RCB's victory celebrations in Bengaluru the next day after the IPL win, took a horrendous turn after a stampede outside the M Chinnaswamy Stadium claimed 11 lives and injured 33. RCB's marketing and revenue head, Nikhil Sosale was arrested on Friday along with three members of the event management company, DNA. The secretary and treasurer of the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) have also resigned.

Retired HC judge John Michael D'Cunha who convicted Jaya to probe Bengaluru stampede
BENGALURU: Karnataka govt tasked retired high court judge John Michael D'Cunha with submitting a report within a month on the June 4 stampede outside Chinnaswamy Stadium that killed 11 and wounded over 75 during Royal Challengers Bengaluru's IPL victory celebrations, officials said Saturday. A govt notification on June 5 directed Justice D'Cunha - who gained national prominence in 2014 for convicting former Tamil Nadu CM J Jayalalithaa in a disproportionate assets case - to give priority to the stampede probe. He already heads inquiries into the pandemic medical procurement scam and oxygen-related deaths at Chamarajanagar hospital in Karnataka. His one-member commission - appointed on Aug 25, 2023, and set to conclude work by July 31 this year - has now been granted an extension till Aug 31 to accommodate the additional case. "Since the commission needs to prioritise the stampede and submit its report in a month, the term has been extended," the govt order read. CM Siddaramaiah's govt has launched a three-pronged investigation - judicial, magisterial, and CID, which took over the criminal probe Friday evening from Cubbon Park police. Bengaluru Urban deputy commissioner is heading the magisterial probe. CID officers inspected the stadium and Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) office Saturday. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Memperdagangkan CFD Emas dengan salah satu spread terendah? Police custody will likely be sought Monday for four key suspects already remanded in judicial custody: RCB marketing head Nikhil Sosale, 38; DNA Networks director Sunil Mathew, 49; ticketing official Shamanth SP, 38; and manager Kiran Kumar, 40. Three FIRs were filed earlier by Cubbon Park police before the handover. CID is expected to issue notices to additional accused in coming days, while also coordinating with hospitalised survivors. The magistrate probe is progressing in parallel, with Bengaluru Urban DC Jagadeesha G summoning over 25 wounded people to record statements on June 11. He said notices will be issued to police officers deployed during the stampede.
