Chrysler has recalled over 200,000 Ram vehicles after discovering the cars' rearview cameras may not properly display images.
The parent company of Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is Stellantis.
According to a May 21 notice from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the recall applies to more than 235,000 Ram ProMaster vans with model years between 2022-2025.
The vans' rearview cameras may not display an image and instead show up as a blank image, reducing the driver's view behind the car.
"If the driver does not heed the blank screen warning and fails to otherwise make sure it is safe to operate the vehicle in reverse, a vehicle crash can occur," the recall report says.
Here's what to know.
About 235,000 Ram vans are included in the recall. The models include:

Owners will be notified via letter beginning June 19. Customers can also contact Chrysler at 800-853-1403 and mention 40C, the number for this recall.
Both the NHTSA recall database and USA TODAY's recall database for car and motor vehicle recalls are regularly updated with the latest status on vehicles, car parts or car accessories.
To check if your car has been affected, car owners can either search their car's make or model in USA TODAY's recall database or look it up on NHTSA's website.
The NHTSA website also has a feature that allows you to search directly using your vehicle's license plate number or vehicle identification number. The site also provides information about recalled car seats, tires and other equipment.

Ford Announces Troubling Recall of Popular Truck
Nearly a month ago, on May 9, 2025, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration revealed a recall from Ford of more than one million vehicles ranging over 44 different makes and models. "Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2021-2024 Bronco, F-150, 2021-2024 Edge, 2023-2024 Escape, F-250, F-350, F-450, F-550, F-600, 2022-2024 Expedition, 2022-2025 Transit, 2021-2023 Mach-E, 2024 Ranger, Mustang, 2021-2023 Lincoln Nautilus, 2022-2024 Navigator, and 2023-2024 Corsair vehicles," the NHTSA announced. The more than one million vehicles may contain a software error that can cause the rearview camera image to delay, freeze, or not display when the vehicle is in reverse. Just three weeks later, the NHTSA revealed another significant recall from the car manufacturer regarding its popular F-150 Lightning, which just surpassed Tesla's Cybertruck as the best-selling electric truck on the market, according to Electrek. "Certain vehicles may have an improperly torqued nut on the ball joint which secures the front upper control arm to the knuckle assembly. An improperly torqued nut on the ball joint can result in separation of the front upper control arm from the knuckle assembly," Ford said in a statement regarding its latest recall on nearly 30,000 trucks. As far as a remedy for the manufacturing error, Ford announced owners will be notified by mail and instructed to take their vehicle to a Ford or Lincoln dealer to inspect the torque of the left and right upper control arm ball joint nut. "If the torque inspection passes, dealers will replace the nut. If the torque inspection fails, dealers will replace the knuckle and nut. There will be no charge for this service," Ford announced. "Ford provided the general reimbursement plan for the cost of remedies paid for by vehicle owners prior to notification of a safety recall in May 2023." Mailing of owner notification letters is expected to begin June 9, 2025, and is expected to be completed by June 13, Announces Troubling Recall of Popular Truck first appeared on Men's Journal on Jun 2, 2025

2 inmates caught in Texas extradited back to Louisiana; 2 more still on the run
Two of the escaped New Orleans inmates who were caught recently in a high-speed chase in Texas have been extradited back to Louisiana, where officials said they will be held at a secure facility. The 10 inmates escaped on May 16 when officials said they ripped away a toilet and sink unit in a cell and went through a hole in the wall. Two are still on the run as authorities have increased rewards for information leading to their capture to $50,000 each. Jermaine Donald, 42, and Leo Tate, 31, were extradited back to Louisiana on May 30 after they were arrested in Huntsville, Texas, about 375 miles from New Orleans, the Louisiana State Police said. Authorities in Huntsville said they led law enforcement on a chase through the city before they were apprehended. Both will face charges for the jail escape, and Donald was also charged with resisting an officer. The escapees still at large are Antoine Massey, 32, and Derrick Groves, 27. For more than two weeks, they have evaded a massive manhunt and attempts at foiling any assistance they could get from the public, with authorities arresting and charging over a dozen people who allegedly helped inmates break out or stay on the run. The inmates escaped in the early morning hours of May 16, and three were recaptured by the end of the day. A week later, two more were nabbed. Within two weeks, authorities had caught all but two, Groves and Massey. Groves was convicted of two charges of second-degree murder and two charges of attempted second-degree murder in October in connection with a shooting during Mardi Gras in 2018, according to a statement from the district attorney's office. Groves has been awaiting sentencing on a manslaughter charge since October, according to a news release from the governor's office. He also faces a charge of battery against a correctional facility employee, the Associated Press reported, citing court records. Catching a fugitive: How NOLA, Arkansas escapees are being tracked Massey is charged with domestic abuse involving strangulation and theft of a motor vehicle, according to Orleans Parish records. There also is a warrant for his arrest in St. Tammany Parish for second-degree rape, second-degree kidnapping, domestic abuse involving strangulation and violation of a protective order involving battery stemming from an incident in November, a spokesperson for the parish sheriff's office told USA TODAY. Search relaunched for Madeleine McCann, the 3-year-old British girl who vanished in 2007
Officials in Europe have relaunched the search for Madeleine McCann, who disappeared nearly two decades ago from a vacation apartment in Portugal as her parents ate at a nearby restaurant. Portuguese police are searching the Algarve region, where the British toddler vanished in 2007 when she was 3 years old, according to Reuters. The country's southernmost area, the Algarve is known for its beaches and golf resorts. Portugal's investigative Judicial Police said the new search comes on the heels of a request from German authorities, Reuters reported. The child's disappearance sparked one of the most publicized missing-person investigations in British history. Judicial police were "executing a European Investigation Order on behalf of the public prosecutor's office in Braunschweig, Germany," according to a statement obtained by Reuters. In 2022, prosecutors in Braunschweig identified German Christian Brueckner as a primary suspect in the girl's missing child case. Search warrants would be conducted from June 2-6 in Lagos, Portugal, and any evidence seized is set to be handed over to Germany's Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA), Reuters reported, citing Portuguese police. The search will focus on an area between Praia da Luz (a civil parish belonging to the town of Lagos) and one of the houses where Brueckner lived at the time the girl vanished, CNN Portugal reported. German prosecutors told Reuters "criminal procedural measures" related to the McCann case were taking place in Portugal involving the BKA and Portuguese law enforcement. The attorneys did not elaborate. Here's what to know about the case. Escaped inmates: 2 inmates caught in Texas extradited back to Louisiana; 2 more still on the run Madeleine disappeared from her bed in a rental apartment in the resort town of Praia da Luz in the Algarve region on May 3, 2007. The girl vanished while her parents ate dinner a few hundred yards away and her 2-year-old twin siblings slept in the same room. The last search for McCann was carried out in May 2023, when police combed an inland reservoir in the Algarve but did not find anything. In June 2020, police in Germany announced McCann was assumed dead and Brueckner "was likely responsible," Reuters reported, adding Brueckner has denied involvement in her disappearance. Although currently serving a prison sentence in Germany for raping a senior woman in Algarve, Brueckner has never been charged with any crime related to the child's case. Madeleine was born on May 12, 2003. As of June 2, she would be age 22. Contributing: Reuters Natalie Neysa Alund is a senior reporter for USA TODAY.
