Russell Stover, based in Kansas City and the #1 brand at Valentine's Day, transformed the Kansas City International Airport (MCI), into a hub of love to set the mood for the occasion followed by surprises at the airport and on several Southwest® flights throughout the day.
Customers were greeted on three lucky flights with custom Russell Stover x Southwest Airlines heart-shaped chocolate boxes as they boarded their flights. They also enjoyed live serenades of love songs at 35,000 feet, a free drink from Southwest Airlines inflight as one of the airline's free drink holidays, and chocolates served on custom co-branded napkins.

- Flight #3366: MCI-LGA, departing at 4:45 p.m.
- Flight #4601: MCI-LAS, departing at 4:50 p.m.

Since the start of February, the Southwest Airlines corridor at MCI has featured a 6-foot replica of a Russell Stover red Valentine heart box. Overnight on February 13, it was transformed with a new Russell Stover x Southwest Airlines design while Valentine's Day messages were added throughout the airport – all themed around chocolate. Travelers at MCI were treated to Russell Stover chocolates throughout Valentine's Day from brand ambassadors who also encouraged photo memories near the large heart.

The border between the U.S. and Canada has traditionally been a pretty loose affair. When I traveled between the two countries as a kid, on a bus for hockey exchange, you got detained only if some kid made a dumb comment to an immigration officer. Even then the adults on board might simply be required to show identification before everyone is sent on their way. Related: Southwest Airlines plans another major change When we as adults were crossing the border to attend a number of hockey games, a border patrol officer asked us why we had a rather obscure hockey card on our dash. I explained that we were headed to Toronto, then Ottawa, and finally Montreal for games, and we were waved through without the need to even show our licenses. It was a border designed to let people in because the U.S. and Canada were friends - two countries that got along really well and essentially operated as partners. President Donald Trump has stopped treating Canada as a special friend and has started to make Canadians feel unwelcome. Border crossings are no longer routine and Canada has shared a dire warning for its citizens who plan to visit the U.S. Earlier this year Canada issued a warning to all Canadian citizens seeking to enter the U.S. That warning was revised and updated this June. At its core, the update makes clear that crossing the border into the U.S. now comes with risk. "Every country or territory decides who can enter or exit through its borders and the Government of Canada cannot intervene on your behalf if you do not meet entry or exit requirements for the United States," the Canadian government posted. It then provided the more ominous parts of its warning. "Individual border agents often have significant discretion in making those determinations," it added. "U.S. authorities strictly enforce entry requirements. Expect scrutiny at ports of entry, including of electronic devices. Comply and be forthcoming in all interactions with border authorities. If you are denied entry, you could be detained while awaiting deportation." Canada also made clear that U.S. authorities could demand Canadians' electronic devices and that the country's citizens risk having them confiscated. "They don't need to provide a reason when requesting a password to open your device." If Canadians defy that demand, significant consequences could ensue. "If you refuse, they may seize your device," the warning says. "The border agent could also delay your travel or deny entry if you are not a U.S. citizen. Before crossing the border, put your device in airplane mode to ensure remote files don't get downloaded accidentally." The reason for that is obvious, according to McGill University Political Science Prof. Arash Abizadeh. "Why would we subject ourselves to this? We can say to ourselves, 'Well, I haven't done anything wrong,' but then you have to ask yourself questions like…'Have I said anything on social media that the current regime might find critical of them?'" he wrote. Canadians have been denied entry due to social-media comments critical of U.S. policies. These fears and warning are bad news for the cruise industry, which has always relied at least partly on Canadian customers. Given the fears of not being allowed across the border, it's easy to think that some Canadians would not be willing to book cruises because if they can't enter the U.S., they may lose their cruises without refunds. That won't be a short-term problem for the industry since booking cycles tend to be around a year out, but it could easily be a problem in 2026 as Canadians opt to take their dollars elsewhere. When it comes to navigating life in the air, flight attendants have seen it all—and they know every trick in the book. From managing jet lag to making even the most cramped seat more comfortable, they've mastered the art of traveling—even in the not-so-glamorous modern age of commercial air travel. So when they share their go-to strategies for sleeping on a plane, it's worth taking notes. Whether you're preparing for a redeye, heading overseas, or just hoping to grab a catnap on a shorter flight, here are the tricks flight attendants actually use themselves to drift off at 30,000 feet. One of the easiest ways to improve your in-flight rest is dressing appropriately. 'I definitely recommend wearing layers when traveling to help with sleeping,' says Katie Storck, a Southwest Airlines flight attendant with more than a decade of experience. 'Temperature on an airplane can fluctuate greatly, so you can cuddle up with a hoodie or even take it off in the summer if the plane is hot.' A hoodie or oversized wrap can double as a makeshift blanket or pillow, while comfortable joggers and socks help you relax into sleep mode. Slip-on shoes are also a smart move so you can discreetly kick them off mid-flight. Storck is a firm believer in investing in the right gear—especially when it comes to neck support. 'The cheap ones aren't worth the money,' she says, so invest in a quality pillow that works flight after flight. 'When I am in the cabin flying as a passenger, I put my headphones in, strap on the neck pillow, and am able to fall asleep and wake up without my neck hurting from it falling at an unnatural angle,' she says. Another game changer: blackout eye masks. Andrea Davis, a Delta flight attendant based in Atlanta, Georgia, swears by a weighted eye mask, which not only blocks out light but helps calm the mind. 'The weighted beads inside the eye mask can help you fall asleep quicker, especially when adjusting to different time zones while traveling,' she says. Storck also recently discovered a sleep mask with Bluetooth technology built right in, which helps create a totally insulated environment for sleep. Even if your seatmate is determined to binge-watch reality TV without headphones, you can still tune out. 'Being able to tune out the noise of the plane helps,' says Storck. 'I always recommend playing some relaxing music over earbuds or masks.' Davis prefers earplugs for a simpler solution: 'Flight attendants will do their best to reduce the noise, but it helps to have those on hand just in case,' she says. Noise-canceling headphones are a favorite among frequent flyers for good reason. Pair them with white noise, meditation tracks, or your favorite sleep playlist, and you've got an instant sleep cocoon—no matter how loud the cabin gets. Sleep timing matters just as much as sleep quality, especially on long-haul international flights. If your goal is to adjust to your destination's time zone, try to stay awake until it's bedtime in the new location, even if it means powering through the first few hours of your flight. Then, sleep strategically to help your body clock reset. (Apps like Timeshifter can help walk you through the process.) To assist with falling asleep when your brain says it's still morning, some travelers swear by melatonin supplements or calming teas. Just steer clear of alcohol and caffeine, both of which can disrupt your rest. When possible, choose a window seat so you can lean against the fuselage and avoid being disturbed by seatmates getting up to use the bathroom or stretch their legs. Bonus: you control the window shade. If you're short, propping your feet on a carry-on can help reduce leg swelling and improve comfort. Taller travelers may benefit from bulkhead or exit-row seats with extra legroom.. And if you can't score a strategic seat, make the most of what you've got. 'Supporting your neck while sleeping upright can help you get some much-needed shut-eye,' says Storck. She recommends buckling your seatbelt over a blanket so flight attendants don't have to wake you up to make sure you're buckled in. Having a consistent pre-sleep routine—on the plane, just like at home—can cue your body to rest. That might mean slipping on an eye mask, starting a calming podcast, and sipping water or herbal tea. Dimming your personal light and stowing your tray table also tell your brain it's time to power down.
