IDF strikes hit southern Beirut suburbs

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has conducted at least 17 strikes on the southern suburbs of Beirut, Lebanon's capital. Al Jazeera reported that the areas were targeted by fighter jets and drones.
According to Lebanon's LBCI broadcaster, the strikes included six direct hits and ten warning strikes, with one projectile failing to detonate.
Earlier, the IDF stated its strikes targeted sites of the Hezbollah Aerial Unit (127) in Dahieh, a southern suburb of Beirut. The Israeli army had previously issued a warning to residents of this neighborhood, instructing them to leave their homes immediately.
This marks the first time Israel has targeted the Lebanese capital since late April, having previously limited its military operations to the southern regions of the country. GCC demands foreign troops leave Libya

Photo via Getty The Gulf Cooperation Council has renewed its call for the immediate withdrawal of all foreign forces and mercenaries from Libya while maintaining support for a Libyan-led political solution. Following the 164th ministerial session, the GCC issued a statement emphasizing respect for Libya's sovereignty and adherence to UN Security Council resolutions. The council said external interference in Libya's internal affairs must cease. The statement urged all Libyan factions to prioritise dialogue and national unity, describing political negotiation as the only viable method to resolve the country's divisions. Libya has been split between rival administrations since 2014. The GCC reiterated its support for United Nations efforts to achieve a comprehensive political settlement, including the organisation of presidential and parliamentary elections and the unification of state institutions. The country has not held unified national elections since 2012. Sabratha residents confined to homes amid armed confrontations

In a Facebook post, al-Dabbashi stated that religious observances were interrupted when 'the takbir (saying 'Allahu Akbar') stopped in the mosque, the sound of bullets and RPGs increased, and armoured vehicles were deployed between the houses and around the mosque.' Al-Dabbashi reported that residents of Sabratha were required to remain in their homes, resulting in the cancellation of Eid prayers and celebrations. The former ambassador said the clashes involved armed groups and cited vendettas, revenge, and disputes over financial gains as underlying factors. He described the groups as receiving funding from governing authorities while claiming loyalty to them. Al-Dabbashi noted an increase in young casualties and called for an end to violence and national unity. Sabratha is located approximately 70 kilometers west of Tripoli.
