CSA proposes amendments to modernize and streamline mining disclosure standards
VANCOUVER, BC, June 12, 2025 /CNW/ - The Canadian Securities Administrators (CSA) is seeking feedback on proposed amendments to National Instrument 43-101 Standards of Disclosure for Mineral Projects. The proposed amendments are intended to clarify, harmonize and streamline Canada's mining disclosure regime without introducing any new requirements. The proposed amendments would update and enhance the standards for disclosing scientific and technical information about mineral projects to address evolving disclosure practices and policy considerations identified by CSA staff, and to reflect changing industry and investor expectations. "Our goal is to provide investors with clear, reliable information about mineral projects so they can make informed decisions, without imposing an undue regulatory burden on mining issuers," said Stan Magidson, CSA Chair and Chair and CEO of the Alberta Securities Commission. "By modernizing and streamlining the disclosure regime, we aim to maintain Canada's position as the global standard for mining disclosure." The proposed amendments to National Instrument 43-101 Standards of Disclosure for Mineral Projects are designed to: remove or replace certain definitions and requirements that have become outdated modernize and streamline certain requirements to reflect current industry practice provide clarification and guidance on certain definitions and requirements, and make other minor language changes to clarify disclosure requirements. The proposed amendments are being published for a 120-day comment period and are available on CSA member websites. In April 2022, the CSA published CSA Consultation Paper 43-401 Consultation on National Instrument 43-101 Standards of Disclosure for Mineral Projects to inform this project. The CSA received valuable feedback from a large number of market participants, which it has considered. The CSA, the council of the securities regulators of Canada's provinces and territories, coordinates and harmonizes regulation for the Canadian capital markets. Has Nine Entertainment Co. Holdings Limited's (ASX:NEC) Impressive Stock Performance Got Anything to Do With Its Fundamentals?
Nine Entertainment Holdings (ASX:NEC) has had a great run on the share market with its stock up by a significant 5.5% over the last month. As most would know, fundamentals are what usually guide market price movements over the long-term, so we decided to look at the company's key financial indicators today to determine if they have any role to play in the recent price movement. In this article, we decided to focus on Nine Entertainment Holdings' ROE. Return on equity or ROE is an important factor to be considered by a shareholder because it tells them how effectively their capital is being reinvested. Simply put, it is used to assess the profitability of a company in relation to its equity capital. We've found 21 US stocks that are forecast to pay a dividend yield of over 6% next year. See the full list for free. Return on equity can be calculated by using the formula: Return on Equity = Net Profit (from continuing operations) ÷ Shareholders' Equity So, based on the above formula, the ROE for Nine Entertainment Holdings is: 6.5% = AU$117m ÷ AU$1.8b (Based on the trailing twelve months to December 2024). The 'return' refers to a company's earnings over the last year. One way to conceptualize this is that for each A$1 of shareholders' capital it has, the company made A$0.07 in profit. Check out our latest analysis for Nine Entertainment Holdings We have already established that ROE serves as an efficient profit-generating gauge for a company's future earnings. We now need to evaluate how much profit the company reinvests or "retains" for future growth which then gives us an idea about the growth potential of the company. Generally speaking, other things being equal, firms with a high return on equity and profit retention, have a higher growth rate than firms that don't share these attributes. On the face of it, Nine Entertainment Holdings' ROE is not much to talk about. Although a closer study shows that the company's ROE is higher than the industry average of 3.9% which we definitely can't overlook. Even more so after seeing Nine Entertainment Holdings' exceptional 35% net income growth over the past five years. Bear in mind, the company does have a moderately low ROE. It is just that the industry ROE is lower. Therefore, the growth in earnings could also be the result of other factors. For example, it is possible that the broader industry is going through a high growth phase, or that the company has a low payout ratio. As a next step, we compared Nine Entertainment Holdings' net income growth with the industry, and pleasingly, we found that the growth seen by the company is higher than the average industry growth of 27%. Earnings growth is a huge factor in stock valuation. It's important for an investor to know whether the market has priced in the company's expected earnings growth (or decline). Doing so will help them establish if the stock's future looks promising or ominous. Has the market priced in the future outlook for NEC? You can find out in our latest intrinsic value infographic research report. Nine Entertainment Holdings' very high three-year median payout ratio of 106% suggests that the company is paying more to its shareholders than what it is earning. Despite this, the company's earnings grew significantly as we saw above. With that said, it could be worth keeping an eye on the high payout ratio as that's a huge risk. Additionally, Nine Entertainment Holdings has paid dividends over a period of at least ten years which means that the company is pretty serious about sharing its profits with shareholders. Existing analyst estimates suggest that the company's future payout ratio is expected to drop to 76% over the next three years. As a result, the expected drop in Nine Entertainment Holdings' payout ratio explains the anticipated rise in the company's future ROE to 12%, over the same period. In total, it does look like Nine Entertainment Holdings has some positive aspects to its business. Especially the growth in earnings which was backed by a moderate ROE. Still, the ROE could have been even more beneficial to investors had the company been reinvesting more of its profits. As highlighted earlier, the current reinvestment rate appears to be negligible. That being so, a study of the latest analyst forecasts show that the company is expected to see a slowdown in its future earnings growth. Are these analysts expectations based on the broad expectations for the industry, or on the company's fundamentals? Click here to be taken to our analyst's forecasts page for the company. Pick and Place Friendly Lead Bending Option Allows Devices to Be Used as SMD Components to Reduce Assembly Costs MALVERN, Pa., June 11, 2025 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH) today announced that its AC03-CS series of axial cemented, leaded wirewound safety resistors is now available with a pick and place friendly lead bending option, the WSZ lead form, which allows the devices to be used as surface-mount components to reduce assembly time and lower costs. Vishay Draloric AC03-CS series resistors act as inrush current limiting resistors during normal operation and serve as pre-charge, discharge, and snubber resistors. The devices are designed to ensure safe and silent fusing in automotive electronics, energy meters, and power supplies for industrial drives and consumer appliances when high DC voltage overload or accidental AC mains voltage of 120 VRMS / 240 VRMS is applied. For challenging operating conditions, the devices operate over a wide temperature range from -40 °C to +200 °C and feature a robust, non-flammable silicone cement coating that conforms to UL 94 V-0. This coating allows the resistors to safeguard the PCB and other components by minimizing the risk of fire due to extreme electrical overloads, without the need for additional fuses in series. The AEC-Q200 qualified AC03-CS series features a high surge voltage capability up to 4 kV (1.2/50 µs pulse per IEC 61000-4-5) and a power rating of 3 W at an ambient temperature of 40 °C. The devices offer resistance from 1 Ω to 100 Ω, resistance tolerance of ± 5 %, and temperature coefficient (TCR) of ± 200 ppm/K. RoHS-compliant, halogen-free, and Vishay Green, the resistors feature tin-plated terminations for compatibility with lead (Pb)-free and lead (Pb)-containing soldering processes. Samples and production quantities of the AC03-CS series resistors with WSZ lead forms are available now, with lead times of 12 weeks.
