MARA allocates RM10m for MotoExpert Programme
KUALA LUMPUR: Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) has allocated RM10 million to empower Bumiputera entrepreneurs in the motorcycle maintenance and repair sector through the MARA-Petronas Automotive Entrepreneur Development (PUMP) MotoExpert Programme.
Its chairman Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki said the allocation would enable 30 motorcycle workshop owners targeted this year to receive business financing facilities of up to RM300,000 each.
According to him, MARA was also offering RM1 million for structured technical training, in addition to rebranding support and financing facilities for selected entrepreneurs.
'Entrepreneurs will also receive support in terms of spare parts supply, improving the image of their premises and developing a more efficient and competitive workshop operating system.
'MARA will continuously monitor the programme, as it is not merely about providing financing but also involves structured training and ensuring integration with the supply chain network,' he told reporters after launching the programme here today.
Meanwhile, MARA, in a statement, said PETRONAS Lubricants Marketing Malaysia Sdn Bhd (PLMM) would supply PETRONAS Sprinta brand lubricant products directly to MotoExpert workshops without involving middlemen, thereby enabling entrepreneurs to enjoy higher profit margins.
'PLMM will also assist entrepreneurs in marketing, technical training and fostering collaboration with external industry players,' it said.
The programme is open to graduates of MARA's Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions or other recognised institutions who have operated a motorcycle workshop for at least six months, with annual sales exceeding RM360,000, subject to an interview-based selection.

Govt Mulls Setting Up TVET Commission
The government is actively considering the establishment of a Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Commission to support the sector's rapid development and reforms. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the matter will be assessed promptly given the surge in student enrolment and the expanding range of training programmes. 'I appreciate the role of the TVET Council, but as those closely monitoring the sector's development, we must consider proposals such as establishing a dedicated commission for TVET, and we will assess this as swiftly as possible in response to the sector's evolving needs,' he said. Anwar added that he and the Ministry of Finance will evaluate the adequacy of current facilities and explore better synergy among government-linked companies, private players, and existing TVET institutions. The Prime Minister also stressed the need for improved starting salaries for TVET graduates, reflecting their strong employability rate. 'Previously, we set the minimum wage at RM1,700. But if a group like TVET graduates achieves up to 98 per cent employability, RM1,700 is not enough. For TVET graduates, if possible, we want to raise the starting salary to as much as RM3,000,' he said. To support the ongoing development of the sector, Anwar announced an additional RM40 million allocation for the National TVET Council, along with RM10 million specifically for Melaka to strengthen TVET entrepreneurship initiatives. Green Packet to reallocate private placement funds after Sri Lanka JV termination
GREEN Packet Bhd is revising its use of private placement proceeds after calling off a planned joint venture in Sri Lanka, citing prolonged regulatory delays and lack of engagement from the local government. The RM10 million project, intended to build a nationwide tourism digital platform with Sri Lanka-based TTISB, was officially scrapped on May 23, 2025. With RM7.15 million unutilised, the company will redirect funds towards expanding its money-lending business, enhancing digital infrastructure, upgrading its smart residential and parking platform, and supporting working capital. Green Packet also plans to invest RM1.2 million into a new loan management system via its lending arm Packet Interactive Sdn Bhd, expected to go live by Q2 2026. So far, Green Packet has raised RM9.46 million from the placement, with a further RM5.32 million to come. Govt exploring ways to change mindset of TVET students to become technopreneurs
MELAKA: The government will explore ways to shift the mindset of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) students towards becoming technopreneurs in the future, said Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi. He said that TVET offers promising opportunities in the entrepreneurship sector, and government support is essential to realise this potential. 'We are grateful for the growing trust of parents (in TVET) today. Therefore, we must find new ways to nurture and transform the mindset of TVET students into future technopreneurs,' he said. According to him, to date, TVET institutions under Majlis Amanah Mara (MARA) have produced 50 TVET millionaires, with the most notable success being entrepreneurs behind the car and motorcycle battery brand, Ahmad Zahid said this when speaking at the opening of the National Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Day Celebration 2025 by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim at the Melaka International Trade Centre (MITC) Ayer Keroh here today. Also present was Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh. Ahmad Zahid said that as Malaysia moves towards becoming a developed nation, the involvement of all parties in driving the country's progress must be coordinated, especially to help groups that are often seen as marginalised within the country's education system. 'The National TVET Council has taken the responsibility to recruit huffaz students to join TVET so that their future can be better secured,' he said. He cited examples of this success, among them, Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) which has enrolled huffaz students to study at its Faculty of Aerospace and the Faculty of Maritime Affairs, as well as Universiti Tenaga Nasional (Uniten), which currently has 550 huffaz who have memorised all 30 juzuk of the Quran, pursuing engineering programmes. 'Alhamdulillah, the response has been quite good (from the huffaz) and we welcome the mudir and tahfiz teachers to build the country by putting the future without compromise.. These students continue to memorise the Quran, while at the same time preparing to become engineers,' he said.
