A uniformed NYPD housing officer, aged 27, was brutally beaten and robbed gun with other things while he was off-duty in the Bronx on Saturday.
The incident occurred around 4.10 am on St.
Peters Avenue in Parkchester as he walked towards his vehicle after completing his shift.
Two assailants, dressed entirely in black, attacked the officer and seized his gun belt containing his weapon from the vehicle. The officer sustained serious injuries, including a fractured eye socket, after the attackers kicked him in the head whilst he lay on the ground, New York Post reported.
The victim, whose identity was not disclosed, was transported to a nearby hospital where his condition was reported as stable later that day.
During the incident, the officer was speaking on the phone with a colleague when the attackers confronted him. He reportedly pleaded with them, saying "Don't shoot me! I'm a cop!" before they fled the scene.
The perpetrators stole multiple items, including the officer's wallet, identification cards, and both his personal and NYPD-issued mobile phones.
Law enforcement officials are examining this incident as part of a broader pattern of robberies occurring in the Bronx area, according to sources.

'Go after them and their families': Islamist terror leader calls for assassination of Donald Trump, JD Vance in 30-minute rant; watch video
(Photo: X) An Islamist terror group leader has released a disturbing video calling for the assassination of US President Donald Trump , Vice President JD Vance, and several top advisers. He said their strong support for Israel was the reason behind the threat, according to the New York Post. The Yemen-based figure is Sa'ad bin Atef al-Awlaki, who is the leader of al-Qa'ida in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP). In a disturbing 34‑minute video titled 'Inciting the Believers', released on Sunday, the terror leader urged American Muslims to 'take revenge' and strike at those he called 'infidel Americans'. He named Trump, Vance, as well as figures like Secretary of State Marco Rubio , Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth and billionaire Elon Musk . 'Go after them and their families and all those who have any ties or are close to the politicians of the White House,' al‑Awlaki said. He further said, 'There are no red lines after what has been happening to our people in Gaza,' and endorsed recent antisemitic attacks and prior assassination attempts on Trump, according to security sources. The video also includes a broader incitement of violence against Jewish people in the US. 'Do not leave a single safe place for Jews — just as they have not left any homes, shelters, or respite for the Palestinians,' al‑Awlaki said. 'Even hospitals are being bombed … Take revenge.' Al‑Awlaki became head of AQAP in March 2024 and has a $6 million US bounty on his head offered by the State Department. AQAP is officially designated a foreign terrorist organisation by the US government. The Associated Press reported that al‑Awlaki's video was his first since assuming leadership and also urged lone‑wolf attacks targeting leaders in Egypt, Jordan and Gulf states over the Gaza conflict. According to analysts, AQAP appears to be trying to regain prominence amid growing tensions in Gaza and rising influence of the Iran‑backed Houthi movement in Yemen.

As protests over anti-immigration raids plunged Los Angeles into chaos, local criminal mobs seized the moment, ransacking multiple stores in the protest zones and making off with stolen goods. From Apple store to Adidas outlet to pharmacies – as many as 23 incidents of similar loots were reported in downtown Los Angeles. City officials said that opportunists come in to smash storefronts and loot businesses after peaceful protesters leave. According to a New York Post report, looters have ransacked multiple stories across Los Angeles, destroying even a museum dedicated to Japanese-American immigrants. In Los Angeles' Broadway, criminals stormed an Apple store by breaking its windows and fled with stolen goods. A video captures a scene of stolen iPhones scattered across a pavement, their alarms blaring loudly. This device has been disabled and is being tracked. Local authorities will be alerted.' An Adidas store in downtown LA was also ransacked and its shelves emptied, despite the presence of a store representative. A viral video on X shows dozens of masked individuals in hoodies storming the Adidas store, grabbing jackets, sneakers, and other merchandise before fleeing the scene. People wore masks even as Donald Trump announced a ban on the use of masks at protests as tensions in Los Angeles escalated. Multiple videos captured masked looters ransacking stores, grabbing armfuls of anything they could put their hands on, and fleeing into the chaos of the LA streets. Looters break into a gas stations market place as demonstrators and law enforcement clash with demonstrators during a protest As Los Angeles reeled from escalating anti-immigration protests, followed by reports of loot, Mayor Karen Bass imposed curfew or a 'local emergency' in parts of the city. In a press conference, Karen Bass said she had declared a local emergency and that the curfew will run from 8 pm on Tuesday until 6 am on Wednesday, while also asserting that 'expect the emergency to last several days.' The curfew will be in place in a 1 square mile (2.59 square kilometre) section of downtown that includes the area where protests have occurred since Friday. "We reached a tipping point' after 23 businesses were looted, Karen Bass said. The protests have been driven by anger over Trump's stepped-up enforcement of immigration laws. They started Friday in downtown Los Angeles before spreading on Saturday to neighboring Compton and the city of Paramount. Federal agents arrested immigrants in LA's fashion district, in a Home Depot parking lot and at several other locations on Friday. The weeklong tally of immigrant arrests in the LA area climbed above 100, federal authorities said. Many have also been arrested while protesting.
