These 11 Restaurants and Hotels Are the Newest Relais & Châteaux Properties—Including a Bahamas Resort on 2 Private Beaches
Relais & Châteaux just added 11 new members, including nine hotels and two restaurants in Europe, the Middle East, Asia, the Caribbean, and Central America.
Among the highlights is The Cove Eleuthera in the Caribbean, the first and only Relais & Châteaux property in the Bahamas.
Washington, D.C.'s Michelin two-starred Jônt and Guatemala City's acclaimed Sublime Restaurant are the two dining additions to the Relais & Châteaux portfolio.
Relais & Châteaux, the association of luxury, independently operated hotels and restaurants, has 580 members around the world, from intimate country inns to spectacular oceanfront resorts. Today, the Paris-based organization welcomes 11 new properties, including nine hotels and two celebrated restaurants.
'Our association is firmly committed to a sustainable path so as to contribute, through cuisine and hospitality, to building a more humane and united world, in harmony with living things,' Laurent Gardinier, president of Relais & Châteaux, said in a press release shared with Travel + Leisure. 'It's an honor for me to welcome these 11 new members to Relais & Châteaux, properties that share not only our values but our passion for goodness and beauty.'
The latest members mirror the same geographical diversity of the existing collection, with new properties in Europe, the Middle East, Asia, the Caribbean, and Central America.
On the Old Continent, these include Villa Pétrusse, a 19th-century villa set inside a century-old park in Luxembourg. On the French Riviera in Le Lavandou, Hôtel Les Roches opens in June, featuring light-drenched rooms and a pool with prime views of the Mediterranean. Also French, Domaine le Mouflon d'Or on Corsica is a 20-key former aristocratic residence set on 50 acres in the island's Alta Rocca region.
Grand Hotel Parker's in Naples is Italy's newest Relais & Châteaux. Built in 1870, the hotel has hosted luminaries like Oscar Wilde and Virginia Woolf. Perched on a hill with sweeping views of the Bay of Naples, the historic property's 67 rooms and suites are decked in Hungarian-point parquet floors, crystal chandeliers, and period furniture.
In Mykonos, Greece, Myconian Sunrise—situated on the island's quieter southern coast overlooking Agrari Beach—has traditional Cycladic architecture, spacious rooms, and a spa. And, on a private bay surrounded by a 50-acre forest on the Turkish Riviera in the Mediterranean, Relais & Châteaux Ahãma opens this June with four restaurants and holistic wellness activities like forest bathing and sound therapy.
Enowa Yufuin in the mountains of Kyushu, Japan, is home to guest rooms and villas with private onsens and Restaurant Jimgu, focusing on plant-based, farm-driven cuisine led by chef Tashi Gyamtso. Ran Baas The Palace, a heritage hotel in Patiala, Punjab, India, was once a Maharaja palace, meticulously restored with gilded frescoes and marble floors.
In the Caribbean, The Cove Eleuthera—a sibling property of two Relais locations: Mii Amo in Sedona, Arizona, and Twin Farms in Barnard, Vermont—is the first and only Relais & Châteaux in the Bahamas, set on two private, white sand-trimmed coves with access to coral reef diving and sea kayaking.
Guatemala City's acclaimed Sublime Restaurant represents Central America, where chef Sergio Diaz creates an ambitious tasting menu that tells the story of the country's culinary heritage and Mayan roots. Also on the restaurant front is the Michelin two-starred Jônt in Washington, D.C., where chef Ryan Ratino is behind the innovative, globally inspired tasting menu.

Burger chain Checkers expanding to Massachusetts with Worcester location
A burger chain has chosen Worcester as the site for its first restaurant in New England. Checkers, a Tampa-based chain with more than 700 locations throughout the United States, will open a new location at 99 Gold Star Blvd., according to a press release from the real estate firm Kelleher & Sadowsky Associates. The Worcester restaurant will replace Honey Dew Donuts, which closed in March. The Worcester Checkers will be run by Mouhamad Saleem and Kelly Moughal, who own and operate other Checkers locations in New York and Subway and Little Caesars locations in Worcester, according to the press release. Brokers Mark Johns and Thomas Bodden completed the transaction for the new lease on behalf of the building's landlord, according to the firm's press release. The brokers do not know when the restaurant will open, a spokesperson for the firm told MassLive on Monday. Checkers and Rally's did not immediately respond to MassLive's request for comment on Monday. Checkers, along with its sister restaurant Rally's, has no locations in Massachusetts or New England, according to the company's website. The closest state with a Checkers or Rally's is New York, with 32 restaurants. There are a total of 751 Checkers and Rally's restaurants in the country, per its website. Menu items served at both restaurants include burgers, french fries, hot dogs, chicken tenders, chicken sandwiches, fried fish sandwiches, slushies and milkshakes. Government funding promised for prefab home builders, but this Muskoka business is planning to expand on its own terms
This Muskoka-based company is building homes fast — and is working toward expansion. 'We shorten build times dramatically,' said Rick Zytaruk, CFO and operations manager of Tooketree Passive Home. 'This is the future of homebuilding.' While new federal initiatives — including $25 billion in loans and $1 billion in equity funding to support makers of factory-built homes — aim to revive prefab construction on a large scale, Zytaruk said Tooketree is still waiting for the details to become clear. At Tooketree's Baysville factory, workers manufacture wall, roof and floor panels, with those prefabricated parts then deliver on-site to construct homes, shops and other buildings. According to the company's website , this method saves time, reduces waste and improves construction quality. Tooketree also has a large interest in environmentally sustainable builds . They design and panelize buildings that reduce lifetime greenhouse gas emissions, avoid petroleum-based materials and cut long-term emissions. They've been awarded with the Innovation in Industry Award at the Ontario Embodied Carbon Awards, and further industry recognition by Foresight Canada , a cleantech accelerator that launches climate solutions across Canada. The father-daughter duo behind Tooketree Passive Homes: The federal government has pledged billions to jump-start Canada's prefab and modular housing industry. Along with the previously mentioned billions in loans and equity funding, it is offering simplified inspections and regulatory changes designed to cut construction time by up to 50 per cent and costs by up to 20 per cent compared to traditional building methods. But Zytaruk remains cautious. 'It looks attractive to me, though it is light on details,' he said. 'The federal and provincial governments are talking about prefab and helping folks like me — but I haven't seen anything yet … It would be good if they would come out with those programs and start the money flowing.' Provincially, Ontario's 2025 budget commits $50 million over five years through Invest Ontario to grow the modular housing industry, including upgrades to equipment and technology. 'While we're talking about this now, it's certainly not a new concept,' said Parry Sound—Muskoka MP Scott Aitchison, who is the shadow minister for housing. 'In the postwar boom that Canada and the United States experienced, we built homes super fast.' Victory Homes, also known as wartime housing , were a large part of Canada's first major federal residential development effort in the 1940s. Built to meet housing needs for defence workers and returning veterans, these prefabricated homes used mass-produced components like walls and roofs. Over 30,000 Victory Homes were constructed nationwide under the Wartime Housing Corporation, which became CMHC in 1947. 'A lot of those homes were built in factories and put up very quickly,' Aitchison said. 'So it's not a new idea, but it's an idea, certainly, whose time has arrived again … It's a model that's designed generally for mass construction. That's one of the reasons why it's important that this technology and this approach comes back.' Aitchison also said a focus on prefabricated homes could benefit Muskoka, which he said has a shortage of skilled tradespeople and labourers needed for traditional construction. 'I think there is definitely a market in rural communities, smaller rural communities like ours, where you can put up a panelized home or a prefabricated home a lot faster without the need for quite so many hands on deck on the site at the time,' he said. First up, Zytaruk said he needs to buy the building they're operating out of. They haven't locked it down yet, but once they do, they'll be able to ramp up production. 'We have a limited capacity partly because of this building, the way it's built,' Zytaruk said. 'If we could expand the building and make the back section more usable year round, we could probably triple or more the capacity of the factory.' The next goal, he said, is to secure a mix of funds — loans, grants or both — to renovate the shop, expand capacity, hire more staff, increase production, build more homes and 'do more good.' He also has his eyes on government promises, though he said growth is inevitable whether they have government support or not. 'Diarra would be an ambitious signing'

Diarra would be an ambitious signing and it is a measure of what the club think of him with the size of their opening bid. Having risen through the French team's academy to captain the club into Europe, Diarra may need convincing.
