Around Town: Nonprofit Share Ourselves celebrates new Costa Mesa clinic
Members of the nonprofit Share Ourselves joined with local dignitaries and city officials Saturday to celebrate the opening of a new Costa Mesa healthcare clinic with a community health fair and ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Attendees enjoyed free tours of the clinic, located at 1650 Adams Ave., and connected with nutrition and wellness resources as well as Orange County community leaders and health advocates.
Developed by Turner Impact Capital's Turner Healthcare Facilities Funds, a mission-driven social impact investment fund, the 11,000-square-foot clinic features 12 medical exam rooms, six dental chairs and two optometry chairs as well as a behavioral health services office and on-site pharmacy.
Costa Mesa Mayor John Stephens, who attended Saturday's ribbon-cutting alongside several City Council members and Orange County Supervisor Katrina Foley, praised the organization for creating better outcomes for those in need.
'Share Ourselves embodies what it means to be a whole person, addressing not just physical health, but mental, social and economic well-being,' Stephens said. 'The clinic represents more than just a building — it's a beacon of hope for many.'
Professional beach volleyball returns to Huntington Beach this weekend, as the three-day Huntington Beach Open kicks off the AVP season at the pier.
Action began Friday and continues with matches starting at 10 a.m. on both Saturday and Sunday.
Players will compete to secure their spots in the AVP League, which is set to debut its second season starting May 23 in Palm Beach.
The top seeds for the women this weekend are 2024 Olympians Taryn Brasher and Kristen Nuss, while the men's top seeds, Andy Benesh and Miles Partain, were also Paris Olympians.
General admission tickets are required for stadium seating Saturday and Sunday, with tickets available at avp.com. Admission to the three outer courts is complimentary.

Galey and her rowing team are heading to nationals along with the Team Tampa Rowing boys team. Both qualified at the regional competition last month after taking home their first state championship title. "We raced our hardest and we got gold," said Ethan Cerchio, a freshman at Robinson High School. "It was such a close race and that feeling once we knew we had secured gold was just like incredible. I was so like the adrenaline rush. I was so happy." It's a free event open to all ages and anyone who's interested in learning how to row. "You'll start by getting on a rowing machine and have one of our experienced coaches walk you through how to do the rowing stroke, and then we'll actually get you out on the water with our experienced members that'll be able to set the boat for you, keep you nice and stable, and by the end you'll be making the same stroke that the Olympians take," City of Tampa Parks and Recreation Supervisor Mike Moseley said. Advertisement The sport has made a major splash in recent years across the country and here in Tampa. The backstory The City of Tampa started the rowing program in 2018 with just 16 students. They now have kids from 86 schools in Hillsborough County participating in the program. We also have a lot of folks that are coming to Tampa from other parts of the country where this is the prep school sport or the college sport that everyone sees," Moseley said. While Cerchio is excited about going to nationals, he has one ultimate goal he hopes one day he can achieve. Advertisement "I want to go to the Olympics. I want to be in those boats with all those people, facing the best athletes in the world. And I really want to just go there. It's an amazing place to be.
