Around Town: Nonprofit Share Ourselves celebrates new Costa Mesa clinic

Members of the nonprofit Share Ourselves joined with local dignitaries and city officials Saturday to celebrate the opening of a new Costa Mesa healthcare clinic with a community health fair and ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Attendees enjoyed free tours of the clinic, located at 1650 Adams Ave., and connected with nutrition and wellness resources as well as Orange County community leaders and health advocates.
Developed by Turner Impact Capital's Turner Healthcare Facilities Funds, a mission-driven social impact investment fund, the 11,000-square-foot clinic features 12 medical exam rooms, six dental chairs and two optometry chairs as well as a behavioral health services office and on-site pharmacy.
Costa Mesa Mayor John Stephens, who attended Saturday's ribbon-cutting alongside several City Council members and Orange County Supervisor Katrina Foley, praised the organization for creating better outcomes for those in need.
'Share Ourselves embodies what it means to be a whole person, addressing not just physical health, but mental, social and economic well-being,' Stephens said. 'The clinic represents more than just a building — it's a beacon of hope for many.'
Professional beach volleyball returns to Huntington Beach this weekend, as the three-day Huntington Beach Open kicks off the AVP season at the pier.
Action began Friday and continues with matches starting at 10 a.m. on both Saturday and Sunday.
Players will compete to secure their spots in the AVP League, which is set to debut its second season starting May 23 in Palm Beach.
The top seeds for the women this weekend are 2024 Olympians Taryn Brasher and Kristen Nuss, while the men's top seeds, Andy Benesh and Miles Partain, were also Paris Olympians.
General admission tickets are required for stadium seating Saturday and Sunday, with tickets available at avp.com. Admission to the three outer courts is complimentary.

Olympic Legend And Wife End Marriage But Their Announcements Are Very Different

Ryan Lochte, the swimmer who won six Olympic gold medals while earning 12 medals overall, and former Playboy Playmate Kayla Reid are ending their marriage. Their announcements arrived on Instagram on Wednesday, one after the other, but were noticeably different in tone. 'Earlier this year, I made the hard decision to end my marriage after deep prayer and reflection,' wrote Reid, who has three young children with Lochte. 'I've come to understand that staying isn't always the most loving decision someone can make,' she added. 'For me, leaving was an act of love ― for those around me and for myself.' Reid, 33, did not mention Lochte in the entire post. Lochte, 40, struck what appeared to be a more mutual stance in his message later: 'This past year has brought major changes for both of us as we've come to the difficult decision to end our marriage. I'm deeply grateful for the life we've built together and especially for the love we share for our three children.' He continued, 'Although this decision hasn't been easy I believe it's the right step toward peace and well-being for us both. I remain committed to healing, growth and co-parenting with care and respect as we move forward separately.' People reported that Reid had actually filed for divorce months earlier. The couple married in 2018, nearly two years after Lochte's impressive Olympics career spanning four Summer Games. He competed in the shadow of Michael Phelps but remains one of the most decorated Olympians in the history of swimming. He was also part of one of its biggest controversies when he initially claimed to have been robbed at gunpoint during the Rio Games in 2016, but officials said it was Lochte and others who had vandalized a gas station and were confronted by security guards.
