Former Italy scrum-half Callum Braley has joined Cardiff Rugby on a short-term contract.Bristol-born Braley, 30, has been signed following injury to Aled Davies and with Ellis Bevan on Six Nations duty with Wales.The 30-year-old, who has played for Bristol, Gloucester, Benetton, Northampton Saints and Saracens, has joined for three months."I'm really excited to join such a great team and club, a team that's also performing at such a high level this season," Braley said."It's a big few months for the club and I hope I can help in any way that is needed."I'm grateful for the opportunity to be back in this kind of environment again and push myself to be better."
Cardiff head coach Matt Sherratt said: "He is someone I worked with right at the start of his career at Bristol and have kept in touch with."He is a quality player and person, has been in some quality environments and will provide great cover and experience to us following the loss of Ellis to Wales and Aled to injury."Alongside Johan (Mulder), who has been excellent the last few weeks, Callum will give us a great option over the Six Nations period."

Family's rugby past Born in September 1998, Sheehan is now 26 and hails from a family of four siblings. Originally from Dublin, Sheehan spent three years living in Romania due to his father's job relocation to Bucharest. His dad, Barry, represented UCD during the 1980s and 1990s, and his grandfather Denis once played for Leinster. Rugby Career Sheehan signed his first professional contract with Leinster in June 2020 and made his debut in October that same year. He recently extended his contract with Leinster and the IRFU for another two years, which will keep him in the capital until at least 2027. His first appearance for Ireland was in a Six Nations match against Italy in February 2022. In the final match of that tournament, he scored a try and was named Player of the Match in Ireland's 26-5 victory over Scotland, securing Ireland's 12th Triple Crown. Article continues below During a showdown with England in March 2023, Sheehan's two tries secured the 2023 Six Nations title and Ireland's fourth Grand Slam. The following year, he suffered a serious ACL injury that sidelined him for six months before a triumphant return to the field in January 2025.

Darge: Gut punch to miss out on Lions Scotland star Rory Darge admits it felt like it was a "gut punch" to miss out on Lions selection this summer. Evan Minto: Wales can cause upsets at U20 World Championship
The Welsh youngsters get their campaign under way against Argentina tomorrow (kick-off 7.30pm) and all five Rodney Parade prospects feature in Verona. New signing Harry Beddall captains the side from openside and is joined in the back row by Minto, Nick Thomas starts at lock and Harri Ford pulls the strings from fly-half, with tighthead Owain James on the bench. Abercarn's Jack Woods and Abergavenny-born Aidan Boschoff, both former Monmouth School pupils and now with Bath and Bristol respectively, line up at full-back and wing. Towering Thomas, who made three senior Dragons appearances last season, makes a first start since suffering a serious ankle injury against France in February. 'Nick has worked hard to get back from the injury he had in Six Nations,' said head coach Richard Whiffin, who brought the lock off the bench in the warm-up win against Italy. 'We are a group that works hard for each other and doesn't give up and the atmosphere in the camp is really good. We have a laugh together but also know when to switch on. 'I don't think that spirit is something that can be coached into a team and it's almost that we clicked as soon as we came together. 'There are no cliques, we are willing to work hard for the player next to us and we help each other even when competition is strong for places.' Minto will lead the charge for Wales at the end of a hectic season. The 19-year-old from Griffithstown made three senior Dragons cameos and featured for the development side, played for Pontypool in Super Rugby Cymru, Hartpury in the English Championship plus started all five Six Nations games and the two warm-up fixtures. 'It's been a long season but really enjoyable,' he said. 'I have been playing for a full year but I've had a smile on my face no matter who I've been playing for or what the opposition is. I've learnt so much and that is what keeps driving me on.'
