Air Marshal Tejinder Singh Takes Over as AOC-in-C of IAF's Training Command
Bengaluru: Air Marshal Tejinder Singh today assumed charge as the Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief (AOC-in-C) of the Training Command of the Indian Air Force (IAF), headquartered in Bengaluru.
Following the formal assumption of office, Air Marshal Singh paid homage to fallen soldiers by laying a wreath at the War Memorial of the Training Command.
An alumnus of the National Defence Academy, Air Marshal Tejinder Singh was commissioned into the fighter stream of the IAF on June 13, 1987. A Category 'A' Qualified Flying Instructor, he has logged over 4,500 hours of flying experience. He is also a graduate of the Defence Services Staff College and the National Defence College.
During his distinguished career, he has held command positions at a fighter squadron, radar station, and a premier fighter base. He also served as the Air Officer Commanding in Jammu & Kashmir.
His key staff appointments include operational roles at Air Headquarters, Air Commodore (Personnel Officers-1), Deputy Assistant Chief of Integrated Defence Staff (Financial Planning), Air Commodore (Aerospace Safety), Assistant Chief of Air Staff (Operations – Strategy), and Senior Air Staff Officer at the Eastern Air Command. Before taking over Training Command, he was serving as Deputy Chief of the Air Staff (VB) at Shillong.
In recognition of his meritorious service, he was awarded the Vayu Sena Medal in 2007 and the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal by the President of India in 2022.

Killed in Sikkim landslide, soldier flown home to Lakshadweep 2,500 km away
The Army, Air Force, and the Navy coordinated the final journey of a soldier from a disaster site at an altitude of 9,000 feet in Sikkim's Mangan district to a little above sea level in Lakshadweep. The mortal remains of Sepoy Sainudheen P.K., who died after a landslide hit a military camp in northern Sikkim's Chhaten on June 1, were flown about 2,500 km to his native island of Androth in the Lakshadweep archipelago on Monday. His body was recovered on Sunday under the debris in the disaster zone after eight days of relentless search efforts. Five others, including Lt. Col. Pritpal Singh Sandhu, his wife and daughter, remained traceless. 'Sainudheen P.K. was among the six missing personnel after the landslide. Three other Army personnel were killed and four were injured in the disaster,' Mangan's Superintendent of Police Sonam Detchu Bhutia said. Known for discipline Born on December 20, 1991, Mr. Sainudheen joined the Army on March 24, 2012. 'Over the past 13 years, he served with honour and distinction across some of the harshest operational terrains, including the forbidding heights of the Siachen Glacier. He was known among peers and seniors alike for his professionalism, discipline, and unflinching dedication to duty,' a statement from the Defence Ministry said. 'His final journey was a solemn and dignified tribute to a life dedicated to the nation. This long and logistically complex repatriation was made possible through a coordinated tri-Services operation involving the Army, IAF and the Navy, supported ably by the local administration,' it said. Army Aviation helicopters and IAF aircraft, including the C-295, were employed for this effort, ensuring timely and seamless transportation across multiple legs of the journey. A ceremonial wreath-laying tribute was conducted with full military honours at the Bengdubi Military Station in West Bengal. At Androth, the Navy rendered a guard of honour. 'Whether in Siachen or Sikkim, he (Sepoy Sainudheen) served with a quiet courage that inspired all ranks. His sacrifice is a reminder that true valour lies in selfless service even in the face of unseen dangers. Gandhi Maidan to get makeover with more greenery and cleanliness: Divisional commissioner
Patna: Divisional commissioner Chandrashekhar Singh on Monday chaired a crucial meeting with officials of several departments, including DM Thiyagarajan SM and Traffic SP Aprajit Lohan, to discuss a comprehensive beautification and infrastructure development plan for the Gandhi Maidan. The Gandhi Maidan, which often faced criticism for poor maintenance, was acknowledged in the meeting with divisional commissioner instructing a three-member committee under additional district magistrate (law & order) to conduct regular inspection and consultations with stakeholders. Representatives from the forest, building construction, and municipal departments were also present. The meeting also decided to bring some immediate changes, including rationalizing commercial activities inside the Maidan to reduce damage to its surface. Over 10-15 coaching centres and fitness trainers currently use the ground for physical training, which has led to grass depletion and dug-up patches. "Officials have been instructed to find alternate training zones nearby without affecting the student interests," said Singh. Singh said that public amenities were also being upgraded. Existing green toilets would be maintained regularly by the municipal corporation, while two more RO drinking water units would be added apart from the two existing ones near Gates 1 and 5. "Desilting and regular cleaning of drains are to take place with the building construction department being instructed to repair and cover the drains where necessary," he added. Officials also discussed maintenance of open gyms, children's parks, and platforms for karate and yoga, directing concerned departments to ensure cleanliness and functionality. Footpaths around the Maidan will be repaired and fitted with iron grills for both safety and aesthetics. Security will be tightened with regular patrolling, and guards will be deployed at all entry gates in three shifts. Smart City monitoring systems, which already track 128 CCTV cameras around the Maidan and its vicinity, will be strengthened, with additional installations as needed. Singh said, "Patna Traffic Police will also enhance regulation around the Maidan to ensure smooth vehicular movement and pedestrian safety. " In a stern move, the commissioner ordered the immediate removal of the food court currently set up inside the ground near Gate 4. "A designated space has already been allocated for such activity," he said. Lighting infrastructure around the Maidan, including high-mast poles, decorative lights, and streetlights, will be repaired and maintained to ensure proper visibility and safety after dark.

Army chief for IAF graduation parade on June 14
Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Upendra Dwivedi would be the reviewing officer for the Combined Graduation Parade (CGP) of the 215th course at Air Force Academy (AFA), Dundigal, on June 14. The event will commemorate the successful completion of the pre-commissioning training of flight cadets across various branches of the Indian Air Force (IAF). During the ceremony, the RO will confer the 'President's Commission' to the graduating trainees. The ceremony includes presentation of 'wings' upon successful completion of training to the flight cadets of the IAF, officers of the Indian Navy, Indian Coast Guard and one officer from a friendly foreign country. The flight cadet from Flying Branch who stands first in the order of merit will be awarded the coveted 'President's Plaque' as well as the 'Chief of the Air Staff Sword of Honour' - and will be commanding the parade. The 'President's Plaque' will be awarded by the RO to the flight cadet standing first in the overall order of merit in the ground duty branches. The event will include a display by the Akash Ganga team and Air Warrior Drill Team (AWDT) to mark the beginning of the CGP, and interspersed fly-pasts by the Pilatus PC-7 Mk-II, Hawk, Kiran and Chetak aircraft. The aerial displays by PC-7 Mk-II, SU-30 MK-I, and Surya Kiran Aerobatic Team (SKAT) will also form major attractions of this ceremony, a press release said.
