ONE 172: Superlek Kiatmuu9 out to make short work again of 1.93-metre Nabil Anane in Tokyo

Superlek Kiatmuu9 is a name that will be talked about in Muay Thai circles through the ages. Already a veteran of more than 170 fights, with a trophy cabinet fit to burst, he is 'built different'. If he were to retire tomorrow, he would go down as one of the best fighters to ever pick up the gloves.

On Sunday at Japan's Saitama Super Arena, the 29-year-old has a chance to enhance his legacy further by shutting down Nabil Anane – one of the most exciting young talents in the game – again.
In 2023, he faced a unique challenge in Anane, one of the most dangerous rising stars in the division. At 6 feet 4 inches (1.93 metres) tall, the Thai-Algerian fighter boasted a huge reach and an iron will, making him an opponent most would rather avoid.
But Superlek made short work of him, knocking him out with a body shot in the first round and dishing out the first knockout loss of Anane's career.
Since then, Anane has put together a six-fight winning streak and has evolved significantly. He will look to prove that he is the future of Muay Thai.

They had won their maiden Asian title in Ningbo in April, in what was their first tournament back together. The star pair will be back in action on Tuesday, when they play in the Indonesia Open alongside fellow SAR shuttlers Angus Ng and Lee Cheuk-yiu in men's singles, as well as the women's doubles pair of Lianne Yeung and Yeung Pui-lam.

ONE Championship: Haggerty blasts ‘delusional' Ghazali, denies ducking fight with teen

Freddie Haggerty has denied turning down a fight with Johan Ghazali, in a fiery response to the teenage striking sensation's claims 'he didn't want it'. Advertisement The Briton hit back at comments Ghazali made in an interview with the Post, saying there were 'delusional and that's the truth' and if he was offered a fight with the 18-year-old by ONE Championship he would 'say yes like there was no tomorrow'. And Haggerty, the younger brother of ONE Bantamweight kickboxing World Champion Jonathan Haggerty, was quick to shut down any narrative he was avoiding the fight. 'I don't fear no one that bleeds the same as I do and that's the God's honest truth,' the 20-year-old said. 'Once we're in there [the ring], it's just a fair battle. It's who's trained harder, who's prepared better, who's ready to die for it.' The younger Haggerty said he would be willing to face the Malaysian at multiple Muay Thai weight classes having 'watched his [Ghazali] past couple of performances', and questioned whether the was really as confident as he made out.

Allycia Hellen Rodrigues will defend her ONE Women's Atomweight Muay Thai title at ONE Fight Night 32 against Shir Cohen in the main event at Lumpinee on Saturday. Now, with the fight rescheduled, Rodrigues is ready to prove herself once again. 'It's a surprise,' Rodrigues said. 'We were almost sure we were fighting Phetjeeja (Lukjaoporongtom) already, but things didn't go as planned. However, we're always ready to face anyone. 'Now we get to fight Shir, and we're motivated to go again.' Rodrigues enters the bout on the back of an impressive victory over Marie McManamon, where she secured her first stoppage in ONE Championship with a dominant performance. 'I'm really happy with my last performance,' Rodrigues said. 'I'm getting better everywhere – my hands, my knees, my overall game. Every fight is going to be better.'
