Egyptian ICT Minister inaugurates Deloitte Innovation Hub in Cairo - Middle East Business News and Information
Cairo, Egypt: Deloitte announced the official launch of the Deloitte Innovation Hub in Cairo, marking a significant milestone in the firm's commitment to driving innovation and harnessing top-tier talent in this emerging market. The event was attended by Egypt's Minister of Information, Communications and Technology (ICT), Amr Talaat, and the CEO of the Egyptian Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA), Ahmed El Zaher.
The official delegation was received by the CEO of Deloitte North and South Europe, Richard Houston, the CEO of Deloitte Middle East, Mutasem Dajani, in addition to Deloitte Innovation Hub leader, Hani Girgis, who said, 'Our investment in the Deloitte Innovation Hub reflects our commitment to the Egyptian market and a resounding vote of confidence in its capacity to cultivate world-class talent. The Innovation Hub will enable us to foster and develop local talent, making an impact that matters to Egyptian people and society, as well as deliver exceptional value to our clients across different markets in Europe and the Middle East.'
This strategic investment, totaling $30,000,000 spent over three years, is made by Deloitte in recognition of Egypt's wealth of talent and expertise in areas such as Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Business & Information Systems, and Data Engineering.
The Deloitte Innovation Hub in Cairo stands as one of the firm's pioneering delivery centers, having commenced operations in September 2023. Since its inception, the hub has rapidly expanded to over 350 of Egypt's top talent, including fresh graduates and experienced hires, reinforcing its commitment to nurturing and empowering local talent.
The hub is poised to offer a comprehensive suite of services catering to clients across Europe and the region, encompassing Artificial Intelligence and Data Analysis, Marketing & Commerce, Cloud, Cyber, and Enterprise Resource Planning. The Hub's expansion plans include reaching a workforce that is 5,000 strong to diversify Deloitte's service offerings and amplify its impact across diverse business verticals

Trade between the two nations was another focal point, with Abdel Aaty encouraging the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (Norad) and the Norwegian Investment Fund for Developing Countries (Norfund) to consider increasing their financial support for Norwegian companies operating in Egypt, particularly in clean energy and aquaculture sectors. He noted that these efforts would benefit from Egypt's recent economic reforms. The Egyptian minister also voiced interest in expanding trilateral cooperation in Africa, citing Norway's strategic engagement with the continent following the launch of its Africa Strategy in August 2024. On regional issues, both ministers exchanged views on the situation in Gaza. Abdel Aaty commended Norway's long-standing support for Palestinian rights and international law, and outlined Egypt's intensive efforts to broker a ceasefire, facilitate humanitarian aid, and mitigate the worsening humanitarian crisis in the besieged enclave. He reiterated Egypt's firm position on the Palestinian cause, advocating for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital. Regarding Sudan, Abdel Aaty reaffirmed Egypt's support for the unity and stability of its southern neighbor. He stressed the importance of safeguarding Sudan's national institutions, sovereignty, and territorial integrity amid the ongoing conflict. Industrial Hub for Bridge Parts to Be Established in Egypt
SAMCO teams up with Germany's Maurer to localise production, boost export capacity, and train Egyptian engineers. Jun 12, 2025 A strategic partnership between Egypt's SAMCO and Germany's Maurer is set to establish an integrated industrial complex in Egypt dedicated to manufacturing bridge and tunnel components. The agreement builds on their existing collaboration producing internationally compliant bridge bearings and marks a major step toward reshoring critical infrastructure production. The planned facility will expand current operations to produce bearings, expansion joints, and other necessary parts for infrastructure mega-projects—such as high-speed rail lines, bridges, and tunnels—serving both domestic needs and regional exports to Africa and the Middle East. As part of the agreement, Egyptian engineers and technicians will receive on-the-job training from Maurer experts, accelerating the transfer of modern manufacturing know-how. Already, 75% of the bearing components are locally sourced, and the plan aims for full domestic production in the near future. A technical committee—comprising representatives from SAMCO, the General Authority for Industrial Development, and the Roads and Bridges Authority—will oversee the hub's planning and execution. The committee will set milestones, staffing requirements, and a timeline to ensure the project aligns with national goals to enhance industrial self-sufficiency and private-sector strength in the transport sector .
