Kristen Faulkner and Quinn Simmons won Elite Road Race National Titles on the final day of the 2025 Pro Road National Championships.
Faulkner won the US national road championship in Charleston, West Virginia, for the second time in a row.
'I had a slow start to the season just coming back from an injury so this season started very differently from last year,' Faulkner stated, as per EF Pro Cycling Pro Team. 'This was the first race where I really felt strong and I really wanted to win. I've loved having the jersey, especially with the gold Olympic bands, and so I feel like this race was the first race where I could really come back and set the tone for the rest of the season.'
With no EF Education-Oatly colleagues in the group, Faulkner knew she had to race with strategy. For the first five laps, she raced cautiously and stayed with the group. She only launched an attack and caught the breakaway when the race was in its final kilometers.
Faulkner kicked in the final straight to get closer to Lauren Stephens (Aegis Cycling Foundation). The reigning champion triumphed by a bike length after charging to the finish.
After suffering a concussion during the off-season, Kristen's 2025 racing season began later than anticipated. Despite having less than a dozen racing days prior to the national championships, she maintained her confidence and understood not to take anything for granted.
She remarked, 'It's such an honor to wear the Stars and Stripes again.'

Quinn Simmons led the US nationals in Charleston by himself on Monday, putting on an incredible performance to win gold.
The Lidl-Trek rider, who claimed the title in 2023, will wear the stars and stripes jersey for the upcoming year after a strong solo performance.
He was aggressive in the beginning of the race and was more than a minute ahead of a six-man group at the halfway point.
'I think the worlds highlighted that I was getting back to my level,' Simmons said. 'Then I had a really good spring this season, winning my first WorldTour race, and now I have my jersey back.'

Carmelo Anthony spilled beans on weirdest reason why Larry Brown suspended LeBron James, Allen Iverson and Amar'e Stoudemire just before Olympics

Carmelo Anthony. Image via: Jean Catuffe/ Getty Images Carmelo Anthony recently opened up about the unexpected discipline handed down by coach Larry Brown just before the 2004 Olympics. It was indeed a stunning revelation that pulls back the curtain on one of Team USA's most talked-about Olympic moments. Speaking candidly on the 7PM in Brooklyn podcast, Anthony explained how LeBron James , Allen Iverson, and Amar'e Stoudemire were suspended over something as bizarre as showing up a little early, not late (point to be noted), to a scheduled team meeting. Carmelo Anthony revealed why Larry Brown suspended LeBron James, Allen Iverson, and Amar'e Stoudemire before the 2004 Olympics Carmelo Anthony candidly recalls the chaotic environment leading up to the 2004 Athens Olympics. The NBA icon described how things got real when, before a scrimmage against Puerto Rico in Jacksonville, three of the team's biggest names were told they wouldn't be playing. 'The minute I knew what type of environment that was going to be was when they got suspended in Florida,' Anthony said. 'Say there's a meeting at 2:00 p.m. Okay. You get there at 1:57. The meeting starts at 1:55, right? Now you get suspended.' Why Larry Brown Suspended Lebron James & Amar'e Stoudemire Despite arriving before the scheduled meeting time, the early start and razor-thin expectations created confusion. According to Anthony, this wasn't just about a timing mistake; rather, it was a power play to assert control over a team packed with big personalities and future legends. Brown, who had spent years managing the volatile but brilliant Allen Iverson in Philadelphia, appeared to have reached his limit. As Anthony explained, 'Larry don't want to deal with that [expletive] with Allen no more. He just dealt with it for six years.' So when Iverson, along with the young and rising Amar'e Stoudemire and LeBron James, were present just a few minutes before the set time, Brown chose to make an example of them. 'It wasn't a casualty of war. It was setting the tone,' Melo said. 'AI, you the guy… you leading Amari who's a young guy… you also leading LeBron James. I got to set the tone and let LeBron know that's not allowed.' For many, it seemed petty at first, but Anthony realized it was all about asserting leadership and making sure the rookies, especially LeBron, weren't influenced the wrong way. Even after the suspension, the 'Young Guns,' as the crowd eventually called them, made a mark overseas. 'We get to Turkey… the crowd is yelling Young Guns in the crowd,' Carmelo remembered proudly. Soccer-Serial winner Montemurro confirmed as new coach of Australia's Matildas

SYDNEY, - Joe Montemurro was confirmed as the new coach of the Australian women's national team on Monday and handed the task of taking the Matildas to the Women's Asian Cup title on home soil next year. The 55-year-old Australian moves from Lyon Women to replace Tom Sermanni, who has held the role on a caretaker basis since Tony Gustavsson departed in the wake of last year's disappointing Olympic campaign in Paris. "Joe brings world-class experience, a deep understanding of the Australian football landscape, and a genuine connection to our national identity," Football Australia interim Chief Executive Heather Garriock said in a statement. "Importantly, he has spent the last decade coaching at the very highest levels of the women's game in Europe and brings with him an unparalleled understanding of what is required to compete and succeed at the top of modern football. The Matildas have established themselves as one of Australia's most popular sports teams but despite runs to the latter stages of the Olympic Games in 2021 and the Women's World Cup on home soil two years later, silverware has been sparse. Serial winner Montemurro, who said the appointment was the "honour of a lifetime", will be expected to change all that. "This team means so much to so many Australians, and I'm humbled by the opportunity to help shape its next chapter," he said. "There's a generation of talent coming through and major tournaments on the horizon. My job is to honour the legacy, harness the momentum, and help this team play football that inspires and unites the country."
